Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Well, after 2.5 years I have finally finished the Spyder. Although it still needs a bit a tweeking I am pretty happy with the results.
It Made (DBs dyno) 486 hp 39x tq (cant remember exact) That is (corrected numbers) 567 hp 490 tq At that point we were just starting to run out of fuel. I currently have a single DW300 that I guess cant keep up. Drove it around tonight and it felt awesome. I couldnt get on it tooo much because if I do the powersteering/waterpump belt flys off. I have the Jay Racing relocation kit that I think is not keeping the PS pump lined up very well. I have a plan to fix it I just need to get a few parts. Anyways I am very happy to get it on the road again and hopefully get to go to some events. A BIG thanks to Shane at DB for helping out with the tune and being patient with the issues |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
That sick man... I need a ride in that beast for a reason to pull the trigger and build mine.

Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
graphs bish!!
awesome numbers mike, you deserve it |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Nice, congrats its been a long time.
Can u give us a mod sheet? |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Really...? that pump ran out already? How much base fuel pressure are you running?
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Nice numbers! My car used to throw belts when I had the water pump pulley on backwards, might be something to double check!
This thing going to be at the cookout this year so we can all drool over it? |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Congrats! Keep that thing together for the All Mitsu Cookout.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder

amazing numbers! must be pretty sweet to be drivin' an awd spyder around.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Get a bigger pump (or two) and turn up the boost!! You've got a built drivetrain, use it!! :)
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Also, a (basic) modlist? I don't even remember what turbo you have anymore! :P
|

Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
About time this thing is done. You going to drive this now?
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Congrats! Now lets see what it can do at the track. O and don't break a rear axle I hear they suck....
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
I have that turbo too! :)
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Steve Hill made like 580+ on that Dyno with the same setup.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Steve made 519 at 33psi.

So anyways, when does it get a parachute? |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
I made 519 on a T67 but I bet my spool was crap compared to Mike and Steve.
Shane you should do an overlay of mine vs Mike vs Steve. |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
My old car made 519 too, overlays for everybody:VP2:

Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Any plans to get down the track this year once the little issues are worked out? Did you ever finish the cage on this.?

Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
I gotta bring it to the track at least once. But without a cage its gonna be pointless. Can only go 13.49 without one.

Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Yeah, Figure, make some launches and if the launch feels good then roll with it otherwise just let off.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
I have no idea where my dyno sheets are. It was years ago and they're probably in storage with 80% of my stuff.
13.49 is all you get without a cage these days? Even if my car runs like crap I'll probably get kicked out also... That sucks. |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Its a convertible thats why its 13.49.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Congrats Mike, now enjoy that bitch.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
What's the limit for non-convertable cars?
BTW, nice power! I can't wait to get back into the cars. |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Iam pretty sure its 11.49 or faster you wil get kicked out. They changed the rules cause cars are safer no days. I have the rule book in the garage. Just go and get use to the track and get use to the car.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
11.49 or 135mph. I know DSMs scoot pretty good, we can get the MPH to kick ya out before you even hit the ET!
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Its a convertible. that changes everything
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
Bump for a Spyder. Huge fan!
Good job! I want to see a graph also. Would be nice to compare powerband with mine. Mine was on a T67 also. |

Wow, I missed this. Here's my dyno graphs for comparison.

Here's mine. Can't find the 596 to compare.
This one is from the E85 conversion dyno. |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
I was poking through an old hard drive right before I moved and found mine.
Here's a quickie with Hill's blue, Brad's green and mine red. I think I screwed up Hill's sheet's height but at least it's something. http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/j...g/b4316558.jpg |
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
I will try and get mine up here. Its too bad I only got to enjoy it for a handful of drives until the turbo ate itself.
|
Re: Dyno Results: 1998 GSX Spyder
When are you getting the turbo situation fixed?
