FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
With golf season just around the corner (hopefully) I think it'd be a great way to kick off the spring/summer months with a little forum golf outing. I have a feeling that there are quite a few golfers on the board and think with enough lead time we could throw together a pretty good day.
Obviously the date is the biggest factor next to the ever-so-changing MN weather. No sense in planning anything for the next 6 weeks. But maybe a late April or early May date? As far as a course goes I feel that we should choose a nice enough course that we don't have to worry about pitted fairways and crab grass invested greens, but affordable at the same time. Some courses I have in mind are: 1) Keller 2) Hiawatha 3) Manitou Ridge 4) Oak Glen (I worked here for a number of years and know the GM pretty well so I think I could swing us a good deal on a group package) 5) Oak Marsh 6) Prestwick 7) Phalen Lets here your guys' suggestions! Maybe go play 18, then go out for dinner and drinks afterwards? Here is a comprehensive list of Minnesota golf courses. http://www.minnesotagolf.com/fairway...2.asp?Region=2 INTERESTED PEOPLE 1.LingLing 2.Tpunx99gsx 3.dzuest 4.Matt D. 5.t-revzr 6.cmspaz ?? 7.91TsiAwd90 8.Cornfed2.4 9.tehehodi ??? 10.Old Pa 11.DSM_421 12.Murlo26 |

I would for sure go... Dont care what course I just love golf!
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Pshhh, who cares about what score you post up! It's more about the socializing than the golf itself! A little pre-gaming will definitely be in order too.
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Count me in. Drinking on the course is not only recommended, it is highly encouraged.
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I'm in!
I'm so bad at golf i need to bring a bucket of range balls with me though, or i run out by the 16th.... I'm down with this though ----> :JD: |

I think finding a course that is going to be n00b friendly is an important thing too. Nobody likes playing a 7200+ yard course their first time. |
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Im in. Just recieved my new clubs (new to me) Nike CCi Forged irons, Nike Putter, Nike SQ 3 and 5 wood and Nike Dymo2 Str8 Fit Driver. Used to be my brothers clubs but nike sent him all new set of clubs, hes a PGA Pro.
I may head out to the golf dome in osseo possibly saturday or today to try them out. |

Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
^^ Long courses are fun.....Unless your playing like shit.
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
^^ thats the back 9 on any course for me lol, maybe a executive course would be better like a little par 3/4 course i think Braemar has a nice one
or parkview in eagan off cliff rd, its kinda a shitty course early in the year though |
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I think that might be a better idea than 18 for the inaugural event. What does everyone think? I would prefer to play 18, but for the beginners maybe that'd be a little much. What does everyone think about 18 or 9???
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I'd be in if anybody wants to teach me. Never golfed in my life but the drinking sounds perfect and enjoying the weather.

Hell, hit a bucket or two and you'll get a little feel for making contact with the ball. Like I said, it's more for the socializing than the golf. The golf is just a great way to make fun of people at the bar afterwards :P |
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Dwan is pretty short and crowded. This sounds like a good idea and reason to hit the range as soon as they open. Hopefully it will be an early and warm Spring.

Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I would say 9 on an executive course is best. Thats what we do for our family reunion every year. Keeps things fun.
If we get enough interest we should make it a tournament. we can use the same rules my family has been using for 15 years, its a good layout and makes for a fun time, yet keeps things fair for players of all abilities. And we could even get a plaque for the winner that we keep updating each year. (each year the winner adds their name, score and course to the plaque and keeps it until the next year.) |

That sounds like a pretty good idea to me, Tom. Make sure the entry fee covers the cost of the trophy, green fee, etc... BTW, with all this great weather, anyone want to hit the(a) golf dome this weekend? Maybe Sunday? |
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Come on up to Territory golf club or boulder ridge and I'll give you guys a hand with the drinking portion of these events :D

The trophy is only a one time charge that doesnt cost much at all. and green fees would be just paying when you get to the course. |
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I might have to join you! Is it like the other domes where you pay a flat fee and can hit as many balls at you'd like (Let the ball jokes begin)? Or a per bucket type thing.

Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I'd be down for sure, I tried setting something like this up a few years ago and lots of people were interested but it never really went any further than that.
I am a pretty decent golfer but even if you suck, you should still come out and have fun!! Drinks + Golf = Greatness |
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Last time i golfed was a few years ago but me and a buddy always went down to that executive course that's on Normandale just south of the college called Hyland Greens. They have a driving range and two par 3's, an outside and an inside. It's a decent little course. You could do 18 if you wanted since its pretty short.
anyone else ever been here? info: http://www.ci.bloomington.mn.us/main...d_facility.htm |

Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
hylands not a bad course could do 18holes in 3hours, me and my buddies have done it in 2 1/2 but theres kinda alot of trees for how small it is, and i like hitting my driver,(I dont think i have used it at hyland before, i might have for shits and giggles) longest hole is just over 200 yards

Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
With the weather warming up I think we're close to being able to set a definitive date. I put up a list of all people that have shown interest in this on the OP. If you'd like to add your name to the list just respond to the thread.
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
I'd probably be down, I like golf...I get frustrated easy because I always think I should be pro at it even though I golf like 5 times a year. Sounds like this would be fun.
|
Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
As it sits, if everyone that's on the interested list comes we'll have 3 groups of 4. It'd be nice to have enough people to do all 4-somes. But if push comes to shove I know (And I'm sure you guys too) some people that would go.

Re: FEELER: MitsuStyle Golf Outing
Bringing this back from the dead. Would Saturday September 24th work for everyone?
