Buschur Shootout 2011

I know it's early but I'm one of those guys that plans stuff six months out.

I'm driving out and already have a room booked at the Econolodge in Norwalk, OH. I'm hoping to meet up with Hotdog, Eyler, Fractur, and the other loons that live in the area.

If anyone is interested in a convoy or hitching a ride then post up.

I'm going to skip this, but I may attend Import Alliance in Nashville (mid-July).

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

I probably will head out for this this year, but I'm the opposite, I'll book my room in August. :D

My disappointment from my last shootout has faded, and I'm excited to actually drive my car out instead of trailering it. Now that it's turned into Evofest, I'll fit right in again.

I would like to, have to see where I am for work and $$$ before I can really make a decision though.

I'm nervous about my job but I'm going to make plans this season anyway. If I don't pencil stuff in then it'll never happen...I won't get the time off from work, budget for it, etc.

I think I might actually do this, thanks for posting up!

I know for sure I'll be at IA in Nashville, since it's like a 25minute drive from post.

If I can get leave I'll go to the Buschur thing. I sort of want to go to MAP's event too.

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

We will be down there as always, we're sponsoring the Evo Stock Appearing class this year as well so we will be all set up as a vendor :) Anyone that wants to caravan down with us is more than welcome, we roll pretty deep and bring a lot of tools and spare parts lol.

I actually considered going this year as I have never been there, but Rosey is getting married that weekend.

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

I am hoping to make this as well. Should be a great time. Traveling with MAP would be a solid idea, as they said they have lots of tools for fun road side wrenching :)

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

^You shouldn't be planning on roadside wrenching. lol

It was meant to be a just in case type scenario haha :)

Wrenching roadside sucks.

I'll definitely see what their schedule is like. I assume they'll be going a day early and staying a day late for setup reasons. They also have multiple drivers for their rig so not sure how sane the schedule will be.

The same one you'll have, only not supplemented with 5-hour energy. ;)

I suspect that I'd make more stops...and at E85 stations rather than diesel.

Not sure if I am going or not but this from the rules make me LOL:

-ALL ROTARIES MUST RUN A MUFFLER OR YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN.

I wonder if that is directed towards a pair of rotary powered Starlets we are all familiar with...

Agree x a bazillion
I thought the Buschur DSM/Evo shootout was mostly (if not all?) Mitsu's thought?

^^That was the fastest rotary I saw the entire weekend at MAP's 1st proving grounds LOL

If they show up again, I might help make that a reality. Shit was obnoxious.

I suppose it depends on if there's an Import day coinciding with this SO.

If you're just looking to race then it's a ridiculous drive. I won't even be racing. I'm just going to shoot video and photos, meet some people, etc.

Anyone go? Any word on what Shep ran? I saw he had the car back running and was doing some testing.

First run:

Second run:
He didn't even make it to the 1/8 before his intake manifold backplate welds blew from a nitrous backfire.

I wonder if the kid in the timing shack got hit again?

Gezus, an AWD that needs wheelie bars?!?

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

Isn't he RWD now? I could be wrong though, but for some reason I thought he converted it over.

goodhart 08-22-2011 08:01 PM

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

Looks like it's still AWD. I know Robert @ FP had said he was at shep's installing a new 105HTA last week.

I hope to see some video's as bad ass as last years shootout had.

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

I actually just found a video of his second run:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztxFN...layer_embedded

He broke before the 60', my mistake. And he wrote on Facebook that he blew a burst panel. Guess he didn't want to hit the timing kid again.

He's running a Ford 9" with a 4 link still AWD.

Constant_Project21 08-22-2011 09:29 PM

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

How does he not eat up center diffs running a Ford 9 with a dsm Awd trans and tcase? I'm a newb when it comes to ratios and such...but I doubt the ratios are the same, I would imagine it would chew up the center diff. I suppose being shep he found a way around that.

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

The DSM rear gear is a 3.55, very easy to install a set of gears into your 3rd member on a ford 9". And he has a Dog box for a tranny, so the only thing stock about it is the case, full billet gears inside and a billet spool, no center diff.

Re: Buschur Shootout 2011

We made the journey again, the Evo threw a rod out the side of the block on its second pass (first pass bogged launch but appreciable 154mph trap at just 880whp) and the FDSM ran two 8.2 passes around 169mph, unfortunately no 7 second pass...yet
