GT5: anyone get it?
So did anyone on here get it? how is it?
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
Man did this finally come out? Glad I waited the 3+ years to buy a ps3
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
yeah today was the day and apparently not too many know or don't care after getting fucked about with the release date.
I was one of the poor saps ready for this to be out 3 yrs ago. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
Did you get it? I've been excited but like you said, after changing the date like 30 times literally it was hard to keep pumped for it.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I bought it. Guess what I am doing tonight?
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
No, not knowing how much sitting on my ass I will be doing i haven't gotten any video games.
I spend most of my time on this internet thing, its proved a good waste of my lifetime and probably should get written on my tombstone. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
My copy should be delivered today...that's what I'll be doing tomorrow.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
It's pretty cool,.A little overhyped possibly. I'm not seeing a whole lot better then forza except maybe graphics. We're going to play it in 3d tonight so we'll see how that goes.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I was thinking about getting it. But reading what people are saying, I'll probably pick up a used one for half the price soon.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
ive got it installing at the moment. im hoping at has a few good qualities over forza givin its so far behind.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I bought a PS3 and so far have purchased 4 games for it. Uncharted 2, GOW 3, Metal Gear and FFXIII (Sucked hard). Not all that thrilled at buying GT5 and I thought this was the reason I bought a PS3, I pretty much just use it to play BDs and play all my games on the 360.
I got burned out on car games with the last two Forzas, GT5 looks nicer but racing games are starting to become a bit of a grind to me. Need for Speed stuff was fun. I'll more than likely pick up GT5 on sale or used. Jake, let me know how the 3D is. Kind of been looking for an excuse to get all the 3D stuff for my TV. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I had no idea this was out. I thought it was just in an endless loop of release dates.
I will have to pick it up. Too bad the Europeans got the cool edition, (signature Edition) with all of the features of the collectors edition except with a wallet with a code to win a car in an exclusive drawing, as well as a USB stick... bastards. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I just picked up a PS3 a few weeks ago, mainly to use NetFlix. I have WAW for it, I have thought about picking up MW2 or Black Ops, but I find the controls harder then on the computer.
If I see it for a good deal on black friday I may pick up GT5, other wise I will look on CL. ~John |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I might pick it up, but Im really getting pumped for the new Twisted Metal, That game is going to be sick!
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I played about 6 hours tonight... not sure if it's 'good' or not, but I enjoyed it... I need a wheel. I did like the used car lot feature as a way of finding cars rather then just having them all listed out like other racing games. There's nothing really ground breaking yet, but I never got in on (and burnt out on) FM3, so I am liking GT5 quite a bit.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
Still like it here, but honestly I'm finding it harder to like then Forza 3. Tomorrow night will be the night we bust out the 3D tv and give that a whirl
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I gave a dsm seat away to a friend who will be making his own cockpit to use with his stearing wheel setup.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
^When i ordered mine earlier this year I was thinking about making the same thing with one of them logitech steering wheels and pedal setups where you have to use the clutch.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
very interesting game. I've been seriously waiting for this game since GT:Prologue.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
Played it last night for a bit, so far i like it. Seems to have to similar game play to GT3, but with better graphics and much more cars. I haven't put to many hours into it. Also Mattd and I found out that rally racing went from sucking to lots of fun when you turned the games traction control off! It robbed you of any power when skidding with it on.

Re: GT5: anyone get it?
im kind of dissapointed. it lacks alot of little things i would like to have seen.
all the upgrades cost the same for any car ive seen so far. some cars a 30k turbo kit adds 8 hp, but the 3.5k header adds 12 hp. poor number of event choices and used car choices. personally i dont like the music or most of the menus either. tons of cars but not alot of choices, aka many versions of the same cars. also for as many cars as their is, there is alot of cars left out that would have been nice to see. the game is fun enough to play but i feel like they could have improved alot of things. |

Re: GT5: anyone get it?
Still trying to decide if I should ask for this game as a Christmas present or not...
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I'm mostly disappointed now that I've had more time with it. After all those years of devealopement it still seems something is missing. (ign gave it a 8.5, while Forza 3 got a 9.4)
On a side note, 3D is pretty sweet. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I bought it and am level 17 currently. I like it a lot, physics are a lot better than Forza IMO and looks better too. Only gripe I really have is the way the premium/standard cars are setup.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
The only thing better then forza is the scenery, and a few of the "special races". The dealership/used car set up is stupid, and so is the fact you cant purchase or sell any cars online. I feel very little difference in the actual driving in game and the modding process also sucks. I always said I was going to buy a ps3 when this game came out, but imo it's not really worth it. I think the guys behind Forza could put out a better game in 12 months compared to... 6 years? And I'm not being biased one bit, I was excited as shit for this game but had a feeling it wouldn't live up to it's hype.
That being said, it's still a good game. But definitely not the OMFGBBQAWESOME!!1!11!! everyone was expecting. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I have it and absolutely love it.
I have played almost every racing game/simulator under the sun. I am reasonably sure, that GT5 is by far the best racing simulator. The only thing better in gravel is dirt 2. For those super-hardcore, there is GTR. If you don't own a wheel - you don't even have a right to critique the game. Its like saying "I have banged a million women" when in all reality you are still a virgin. |
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I'm a Forza addict that use to be a huge GT fan. After making the jump from GT4 to FM2 a couple years back, I was blown away at what I was missing. If I'm reading that GT5 drives like GT3....well I can happily say I won't be buying it. GT has always had the car count there, but the actual physics were always lacking, along with a bunch of other things (release dates?). Forza 3 might not have some of the cars some want, but the physics in that game will always keep me back racing. At least until FM4....

Re: GT5: anyone get it?
I played GT5 at Rosey's this weekend. It's pretty good, but still has a bland watered down feel when it comes to physics and how the car feels. It plays like a game, not a simulator. I'd rather play Forza 3.
|
Re: GT5: anyone get it?
playing with the steering wheel does make it THAT much more better. If you're playing with the controller, you're not getting much....kinda like you'd rather jack-off than do the real thing if you know what i mean.
Anyways, the game feels pretty great so far. I haven't driven high powered cars yet. Haven't had much time this weekend. I don't really like how the Miata can be easily over steered with the medium sport tires after corner exits...or I'm just a awesome noob when comes to driving a rwd car in gt5. GT5 definitely does not feel like GT3. Yes, if you have the controller, it will feel like GT3 i guess, but totally different story when you have a solid steering wheel. Haven't had much to review on the game because I haven't driven, modified, and played any awd, rwd, fwd vehicles yet but the game is far more better than gt4 so far, especially with the online play. |

Re: GT5: anyone get it?
Wow, sounds like a lot of people are kind of underwhelmed by this game. Things I never liked about previous GT's, and I'm sure the new one isn't a whole lot different are; 1) Even when traveling at 135mph, it feels like you are doing 30mph. 2) customization of the cars. You get SOOO much more open control of the customization aspect of the gameplay. I have owned every GT 1-4 and played Forza 3 a fair amount and just in the few hours of Forza, it blew away GT 1-4 in those aspects.
What are your thoughts GT owners? Have these issues been addressed with GT5? |

Also with games today, they can be very dynamic with respect to updates that they could not before. So something like a 30k turbo upgrade only netting 8hp, can be changed if the programmers see people complaining about it. |

Re: GT5: anyone get it?
But wouldn't the whole going 200mph, but it feels like 40mph be part of the physics?
For how unrealistic games like Need for Speed: Shift/ProStreet may be, that is one thing they simulate very well. |
