Testing Out the Go-Pro Camera

Wednesday at OC, Lomker lent me his GoPro camera which he has never used. I swapped it to 1080p and went for a drive. I think it turned out pretty good and it was fun.

I mainly made the video to show people on the national forums how smooth the car is and how able it is to be a daily driver with the "lag" it has.

Toward the end I do a race tune pull, 2-3-4(let off at about 110).

Enjoy :)

Ps...It's kinda long, just me cruising mostly.

Looks good! The pull is at 13:20.

Sounds like it spools plenty fast. Great setup!

Ps. was this on the 31 or 37 psi tune?

There was some knockCEL flashing there. He said on another forum that it was the hotter tune.

37 for the full pull...i switched it right before I spun first at that stop sign...you can see the IC sprayer light start flashing when I am playing with my cruise control. The cruise control button switches tunes.

Also on the pull you can see its knocking on spool up, been trying to figure out why...seems like it only does it when I try to get it quick spool scenarios...like 1st, 2nd gear or 3rd/4th at higher rpms. When I gun 3rd from 3k and it is slower spool it seems fine, its weird.

I don't know why, but it bugs me when people misuse the word borrowed instead of saying lent.

Cool vid though :)

I know I know, I borrowed it from him, he lent it to me etc etc..I don't try to think about grammar when I post.

Plus i was a few drinks in the bag when this video finally finished uploading last night ;)

Ha, no worries man, I think that one was just drilled through our heads from a teacher at some point, so I notice it quickly. Ask my g/f how much it drives her crazy when I correct here constantly on that :D

No shit right? lol

The video is so boring, it was like 2 seconds of driving fast, god they are lame.

LOL, why do you think I don't really post over there?

It's funny, you don't realize how fast these high power cars wind out until your comprehension ability is limited to a small portion of your screen... I would have in no way guessed that the pulls in Jakes car were that quick, then I see how quickly you're running out of gear and it's like 0_0

I got a pretty good chuckle when I pulled up EvoM this morning and saw:

Warning for murlo26: Posting Street Racing Content
chaotichoax

You actually didn't get points though, it's just a warning. Looks like he also owned you for 5 points back in January. 5 more and you're banned for a day LOL

He did indeed, I think i mentioned in a thread I had something for sale and he owned me, lol. I don't even remember.

I would love a ride in this car, this thing looks badass.

Last time I was in it trying to log the knock I wasn't quite ready for it. I tend to get a little car sick in higher HP cars when I am staring at the computer screen and then they floor and my head whips back.

Might have to wait until spring for this, the car goes up on jackstands sunday :(

Unless you are in the Blaine area Saturday, then I am sure I could arrange a ride ;)

I was all confused when you were like I wasn't ready for that because like 2 seconds before you were like ok ready...then after the pull wait not ready, but you said you were just used to all the cars with like half that power from earlier, lol, it was funny.

Did you see the knock at spool up in the 13th minute Shane, that is what I was talking about in the PM's I sent you. If you watch the 1080p version on youtube you can see the dash etc pretty clearly.

I know what he's saying...trying to read a screen with things whizzing by in your peripheral vision can throw you off.

Yay spool!

Whoever said that was laggy needs to ride in a car that actually has bad lag. haha. Even mine I dont view as too bad, same amount of powerband as stock just higher up. Same with yours I'm sure.

Giggidy.

I got a GoPro and was really disappointed with the sound quality. Especially when it's mounted outside the car. It wouldn't be so bad if you could plug a mic in.

Great quality image and easy to mount pretty much anywhere, but aside from that, GoPro sucks.

Actually, I have more powerband than stock, lol, just shifted. I am close to 5k rpm of powerband...maybe closer to 4500 as it drops hard after 8k but its still making a lot of power up there. But I know what you mean ;)

Personally I thought the GoPro was pretty awesome, the video in 1080p looked very good and the sound was livable...this was it in the weatherproof case too. I am going to buy one when I get some fundage for sure.

Yes, HD. I'd consider it depending on the offer but I'm not dying to ditch it quite yet.

As for Murlo's comment, yes the 1080p image is beautiful, but I disagree with the "livable" sound. I think quality sound is the most important aspect of good automotive footage. I could tell the waterproof case was on for your video right away. The sound is worthless with that case. The only thing I haven't tried that might work is the open cover on the interior of the car. Forget getting good audio from the exterior though.

Re: Testing Out the Go-Pro Camera

^Meh, it gets the job done for me, the camera is like 200 bucks new or something...what could you possibly expect out of it.

I think it does its intended job great and is worth the money. If you wanted good sound too I would imagine you have to spend double.
