could this work!?!
could i put a 3000gt vr4 (v6 twin turbo) motor in a 95-99 gsx shell?
|
Re: could this work!?!
Anythings possible. Do you have 10k laying around?
|
Re: could this work!?!
no but i can get it, would that be a fast car?
|
Re: could this work!?!
hell yeah. gotta do alot of fabrication and wire work. :)
|
Re: could this work!?!
And it will still be slower than most of the 4 cylinder DSMs and Evos. :)
|
Re: could this work!?!
Epic waste of time.
|
Re: could this work!?!
it has 2 more cylinders so it's gotta have more power. more power=more speed yo!
|
Re: could this work!?!
Man, I don't know. I think spending the time/money into a built 4G63 would be better spent.
|
Re: could this work!?!
^ This coming from a guy who just spent $10k swapping a Subaru, those are words worth their weight in... anything really fucking light and really fucking expensive.

Re: could this work!?!
lol im pretty sure a stock vr4 engine in a 97-99 gsx would be faster than the stock 4g63 that would come in it!!
|
Re: could this work!?!
Thats a retarded idea.
|
Re: could this work!?!
okay im not disagreeing or agreeing with anyone i would just like to know from the people that are saying it is a bad idea, why? i would like some more info than just "thats retarded" please explain y i shouldnt do it?
|
Re: could this work!?!
Because you can make more power with an easier platform by sticking with the 4g63. The TT motor is hard enough to work on in a 3S, the dsm engine bay is only tighter.
|
Re: could this work!?!
yea but cant u make more power outa the v6 TT
|
Re: could this work!?!
Not really.
Just throw in a TT V8 instead or maybe a V12. |
Re: could this work!?!
that would be a lil to much cash and if a v6 has to have fabricating done could a v8 TT or a v 10 even fit..
|
Re: could this work!?!
Hell yez u kan mek mo powa wid da vsizzle, twice the turbo twice the power, 2 16Gs on pump at like 12psi make over 400psi, you'd have to max a 16G on a dsm to even get that much.
2 16Gs maxed out on a 3S would get you over 700 easy, thats insane hp. I say if you can do it, then get it done it would be so badass. |

Re: could this work!?!
I hope gravy chimes in on this with his 3S knowledge. But the 3S guys it sounds like run into a conundrum when it comes to bigger turbos, eventually you just get hit with super lag and its gay.
I have a better idea for you, 4G64 swap!!! Its still a 4G6x platform, AND ITS BIGGER DISPLACEMENT OH MAI GAWD!!!!!! POWA YO!!! |

haha finally reasonable words! |

The point is why try and reinvent the wheel? If you have the know-how and expertise to do this then I am all in for pics and a project thread, but realistically you can do so much with the 4G63 w/o doing a crazy swap it makes the idea seem laughable (thus some of the responses in this thread). Besides, enough stuff breaks on these cars as it is! |

hahaha worst thread/troll ever.

Re: could this work!?!
What's 'not a lot of money' vs 'a lot of money'
Again, it depends on your know-how and level of expertise. You could build a 500hp (or 500whp?) 4G63 for $5k pretty easily, whereas your vr4 swap would take who knows how much just to complete, then turbos, AEM EMS (no real cheap tuning solution for that platform, another drawback), turbos, intercoolers, exhaust, and all custom fab work b/c of the swap, oops you just spent another $10k! Go buy a FMIC ($500-1000), Evo3 16g ($500), 1000cc injectors ($300), walbro fuel pump ($75), exhaust ($500-800), and DSMLink ($500), go see shane@DB Performance and voila, you have an insane fun setup(seriously!) and nearly the oh-so-coveted 500hp you are after. $3k total investment on top of your GS-T you have listed in your profile. Spend the rest of the money from your swap on strippers and blow in vegas, savings, and a fund for when parts break on the DSM. |
Re: could this work!?!
I want to see the vr4 swap, the powerband would be so much bigger at any power level and would only be improved upon making more power.
Plus if you are fwd, then you have more weight over the wheels = more traction. I say do the swap good luck and bring that bitch to the cookout next year and win. |
Re: could this work!?!
add me as a friend man
|
Re: could this work!?!
I'm going to go a different direction here...
Have you thought about what it'll do to the weight balance? The car's already 59% front 41% rear, and putting a heavier motor up front is supposed to help it do what exactly? The car will do one thing on power, and that's move in a straight line. |
Re: could this work!?!
DSMs really don't do anything else too well.
|
Re: could this work!?!
Awwww <3
|
Re: could this work!?!
All I will say it can be done. there is a few mirage guys that have stuffed them in to a mirage shell (less room then a dsm) they worked good till they wanted to work on the engine and it had to come back out to do a timing belt. the one guy that has had it in his car for a few years just took it all out to put in a evo engine to make life better
|
Re: could this work!?!
If you have to ask, then no don't do it.
And LOLers at V10 swap :D |
Re: could this work!?!
Ok, i Have like 5 mins before class, and i just ran though this and have to get my input down.
/facepalm. You have no IDEA what luck you have with the 4g63 in there. You have something i like to call SPACE!!!! I could become rich by making bets with people. $5 per bolt and the deal is from 5' away you toss the bolt into the engine bay. If it hits the ground i pay you $5, and if it doesn't you pay me $5. I would be able to retire if i did that once a week at a random car show for one year. The TT motor in those cars only makes it twice as hard for mounting FMIC's in it, turbo upgrades wouldn't work at all due to the factory one's being crap. Your talking 300 bhp in the TT motor and the scale to jump up is crazy. They joke on the forums about if you want to run 12 seconds, you need to spend $100 in mods. To run 11's your have to spend $1,000 and to get into 10's your looking at spending $10,000 if you want to do it right. BUILD THE 4G63 FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!! Reminds me of the guy who wanted to drop a 440 into his stealth, since it's a dodge it will fit right in..... |
Re: could this work!?!
yea the space factor is what is causing my second thoughts..
|
Re: could this work!?!
The fact this idea is retarded is what should be giving you second thoughts.
build the damn 4g63 and be done with it. You already need to swap it to a 6 bolt since you seem swap happy. |
Re: could this work!?!
fyi if u went rwd, u would have a crazy amount of room
|
Re: could this work!?!
Dude, put a an EJ257 in it.
|
Re: could this work!?!
What a waste of bandwidth.

Put a 350 in it. That's the motor all rednecks swap into everything.
