Project Sexus
 

This is kind of a continuation from my other thread.
But I wanted a project thread around for when I do some kind of cool stuff.

For now the car is almost stock save for:

SRT 3" CAI w/ECU Mod
2.5" Catback Magnaflow Exhaust
Torsen LSD

Then the sexy part:
30% Tint
10" Infinity Basslink Subwoofer (for that decent, but not too loud bump)
O'Rilleys shift knob, cuz the stock one was horrid.
Clarion CX609 Deck, double din (for that almost factory look)
6000k HID bulbs

Planned mods:
Koni Adjustables with Tein S.Tech springs
Headers winter/spring
And come spring a set of rims, and possible CF hood

Sweetness!!

That sub looks exactly like the one I had in my Talon, and was stolen out of my garage a year ago. Are any of the black screws missing in it anywhere? I loved it, sounded great, would love to get another one. If you're thinking of selling it let me know :)

The surface Im mounting it too is that cardboard shit that covers your spare tire. It's flimsy and the way I drive I would be one sub short in about 2 days.

Basslink club here, my amp went out but I still have the rest of the unit.

Plans sound good minus the CF hood, but i'm sure it will look good with teh dark color

It's a factory unit off a 2005, I'm pretty sure they are Torsen style.

Sweet! I used a torsen style diff in my 240 and I'm pretty happy with it. Though if I were to do it again, I think I'd go with a 1.5 way clutch type. It kinda sucks when you get one wheel on a little sand or one rear wheel comes off the ground a little and it turns into basically an open diff.

Yeah, I have read those downfalls, but it will do for now. I could always rebuild my other diff with some MK3 Supra components, or a Kaaz LSD....

I will wait till I make more power tho.

Does the MKIII use the same case also, or just the guts? Just wondering if they are a straight swap or not, cause if they are I I know about 10 people with MKIII's and I'm sure one of them has a spare laying around if you ever decided to go that route.

OHHH YEAH!!!

I honestly dont know why LSD's aren't just standard on RWD cars.

Got the diffs swapped. What a chore. I will never understand why you would want to use machine screws to attatch your half shafts to the diff, all you end up doing is rounding out the inside of the damn things. Thank god for vice grips.

All in all tho, was the swap worth it?? HELL YEAH IT WAS! It works like a champ.

One wheel wonder willy is no more, say hello to two tire tommy!

It was almost 11 before we got done (started at 3). And also I dont have enough power :(

Well.... I havent actually done anything cool to the car recently, but heres a list of shit that has happened to it/i've done to it this winter thus far.

Replaced a main tire because of a pothole
Replaced my spare tire because that went flat too (the next day)
Replaced a license plate bulb (not a simple task, thank you Lexus)
Went to replace my sway bushings because they are bad, wrong bushings, or wrong bushing brackets... Its complicated
Replaced the bolt that was missing on my brake caliper... Car is a lot more quiet now.

I'm mulling around what to do next for this thing. I keep debating between a suspension drop, or putting on some headers and a Y-pipe... Power, or Handling.... decisions.

Well..... More power is on its way soon.

I broke down and ordered in (what I hope are) OBX Long Tube headers off amazon. Seemed like people were either or on Megan vs OBX. And the Megan stuff was about twice as much just for the header, a header they don't even list on their website. Also the my.is guys seem to like them... then again... it is the my.is guys....

More details later whenever it finally shows up at my door.

I got the couch from Becker Furniture world down here in B-ville. It is pretty legit, the center sections can hold a 12 pack and the ends recline.
