Conservative push for legalization?
Trying to gain the college vote?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsfCWl9Bk4k&feature=player_embedded#!&hd=1 What are your guys thoughts on this? Votes are confidential |
Re: Conservative push for legalization?
Well, I am sure not a conservative, but I have always thought the idea of individual freedom/choice, smaller government (drug enforcement has ballooned the police, court and prison systems) and fiscal responsibility (the cost for enforcement is massive, far more than any "welfare" programs) would be ideas that appeal to conservatives.

Re: Conservative push for legalization?
Cops "Should" have alot more important things to do than chase around teenagers with weed...

Theres no reason it shouldn't be illegal. You can't overdose, it's relaxing, has many medical benefits, etc etc. I'm surprised alcohol is legal TBH. You can die from it easily, become addicted fairly easy, and has a lot of terrible long term effects. Oh well. |
Re: Conservative push for legalization?
Pot should be sold the way tobacco is in italy, basically the government owns the business and collects all profits created. Think about the biggest drug dealer you know, know imagine that guy sold to everyone in the U.S. coast 2 coast.
So yes I think They should and need to legalize. |
Re: Conservative push for legalization?
HKSenilyks, your screen name is hard to type. Also are you nuts? You want to expand government? That's what republicans hate most, besides gays, jews, mexicans, taxes and liberals. If you are really saying that the gub'ment should own all tobacco production and realize all profits from sales of it, that is the "communism" fear that is instilled in every GOP supporter by their overlords. Might as well give it to large corporations, which are basically a front for the government since they are all intertwined and share profits.
I suppose that sounds crazy. Anyway, back on topic here. I know some pot heads, and they have thrown their life in the garbage trying to smoke weed all the time. They become sloths and the only desire circling in their head all day is their next toke. Man, you call it freedom, but you are enslaved to just one more man. Your weed man. You spend a shitload of money on a 10 minute high. On a gas tune, if I spent that same amount fuel, I could drive half way to Colorado easy. 60 bucks a bag, lol. pot heads. |

Re: Conservative push for legalization?
While I'm not a pot smoker, I did do it once in a while in high school. I wouldn't care if it was legalized, a lot of people in this country do it and I'm sure a decent amount of money would be made from it to help pay for debt this country has accumulated, moreso recently :P

And for the record I don't smoke it, just a supporter. And as far as your first paragraph, you should go through any kind thought process before you post. |
Re: Conservative push for legalization?
I like to piss off the other party just as much as the next guy. Maybe your buddy wasn't a heavy user, but if people smoked pot like they do with cigs, there would be a whole lot of drooling 'tards walking around.

some people do smoke pot like they do cigs. Once you build up a tolerance, you don't get retarded all the time. Just happy-go-lucky. |

Anyways, I know plenty of fully functioning burners that are contributing members of society. I think it is stupid that pot is illegal in the first place, IMO it's FAR less harmful than alcohol, and 99.9% of the people who smoke are not drooling idiots. Hell, even de-criminalizing it like Canada would save us boatloads of money. |
Re: Conservative push for legalization?
Me and Kracka were talking about this the other day.
Legalize pot, then make all current illegal aliens legal (because they know how to grow it better and cheaper). Tax the sales and growing of marijuana and kiss the deficit goodbye. Also, i hate the fact that they are making this out to be a Conservative issue. This is on both sides, democrats have been calling for this for years. |

Actually I've never seen a Dem or Rep with any real swing in DC push very hard for Fed legalization. It's always a rally for the stoner vote leading up to Nov. every time they even bring it up. They figure the true stoners will forget about it after the election. I think it would be a good idea and help raise $$ and open up a few jobs. I think the biggest thing holding it back is there is no accurate field sobriety test out yet. |

Re: Conservative push for legalization?
I've inhaled and I prefer beer. I think we should take Canada's approach.
I was talking to some guys at the track...we all think we're safer doing 110 at BIR than commuting. A lot of people shouldn't be driving. |

Re: Conservative push for legalization?
If cali leagalizes it for recreational use which I think they will, colorado and a few other states will be right behind them. Pot is probably the #1 illegal drug in america and it isint as bad as alcohol and you can still drive a car if your stoned out of your mind. Legalization means less people in prison from stupid pot laws, less criminal/gang activity involving pot, and you can tax it as well as the fact that there would be alot less stressed out people out there with road rage, suicide, ect.! California has problems with mexican gangs forcing people to setup illegal grow operations in national parks telling them they are going to kill a kidnaped family member if they don't. You cut out there #1 profit drug and gangs take a huge hit not to mention saving alot of money by not prosecuting people for petty weed crimes. Only thing is you can't sell it at gas stations where kids can get it, have to have a dispensary to get it at.
I see the poll shows there is a large number of pot heads on this forum or everyone agrees that pot really isin't that bad and should be legal. And companies can still drug test and fire you even if it is legal so not everyone is going to become a pothead if it becomes legal. |

You want to do it, stay your ass home and smoke all you want. I'm ok with the legalization of it because I believe what you do in your own home is your business until it becomes a danger to others around you. But to even remotely insinuate that you could/should smoke and drive is ridiculous. Either you don't smoke and are making assumptions about it's affects, or you do, but your hook up is hookin you up with some low budget crap weed. I used to smoke regularly from when I started in high school for about 10 yrs and I can tell you I never thought about wanting to get behind the wheel because it does impair your thinking and reaction times. Considering today's weed has much higher levels of THC than when I smoked it, you are only taking your life and innocent others for a very risky ride. Want that on your conscious if something happens? |
