Looks like im going to jail for 48 hours. :slap: :uh:   i just got back from my trial and the judge was an ass, he yelled at me.
Me and the prosicuter came to a decision on bringing it down to a Misdemenor speed, and the judge sentenced me to 2 days in jail, with 90 hanging over my head, and $100 fine with $900 hanging over my head, and he made it so if i get even a speeding ticket im gone. no good at all. so in other words i went under the speed limit the whole way home and anywhere i go from now on. FUCK this sucks. and he told me "tell you street racer buddies to knock it off!!!!"
Tom

Jana 10-30-2003 12:23 PM

Sorry to hear that Tom.....I guess you can chalk it up to an expensive lesson learned. :(

I wonder if you could have the Judge removed from your case for obvious reasons? It sounds like he is being prejudicial and grouping you into a catagory and not looking at your case with an unbiased state of mind. You weren't street racing when you got that ticket were you? So why should he say that?

CVD 10-30-2003 01:53 PM

im sure he had a full list of toms previous offenses. he did get busted streetracing once.

BuildADSM 10-30-2003 02:32 PM

Well sorry to hear about that. I am not joking when I say that you should put a govonor on your car (until you get cleared up). It will save you alot in the long run.
well good luck

Goat Blower 10-30-2003 03:09 PM

Well, I'm going to play the devil's advocate here. Were you respectful in court and did you ever interrupt the judge at any point? I've had to defend myself for doing a few dumb things when I was younger and I never had a problem because I was very respectful. Going to jail at all for a speeding offense tells me there's more to the story.

And the weekend jail thing isn't so bad, just don't close your eyes when you're taking a shower. :bounce:

I can't even say how dumb this is to post a picture like this on a public board. You could easily be joining Tom for the weekend.

MustGoFaster 10-30-2003 03:55 PM

It's only 48hrs, skip the showers.

AJ 10-30-2003 03:56 PM

Posting that pict was just retarded.

Tom just beat the hell out of the biggest man there so everyone knows your a touhg guy and leaves your poop shout alone.

Sorry man.

520Talon 10-30-2003 04:11 PM

Posting that pic is beutiful. No stream, no crime. He could just say he was standing there to look funny. No crime in that.

Seriously, a weekend? Quit your whinning. You will be in the work release area with other weekend warriors, mostly DWI'ers. Get busted for something really stopid and sit with the general pop waitig to see the judge mon morning. That sucks.

Kracka 10-30-2003 05:02 PM

Nothing wrong with posting that pic.

A ) Why would cops be lurking on the board?
B ) NO WAY they could prove it was him in the pic, or even him for that matter that made the post.

If they are here, they know now :slap:

Kracka 10-30-2003 05:12 PM

The cops won't chase after a shoplifter who steals a $15 CD, why would they lurk on a car board? It would be more than a full time job to keep tabs on every single online car board...and if they were to go after a MN based board, it would not be Style since there are a few other MN groups with a larger member base.

Iceman 10-30-2003 07:11 PM

You guys smell that it smells like pig... O its stronge...

BTW i love the picture your also my new best friend even if you don't wanna be :P...

About the court thing you could ask for a retrial with a different judge (hopfully) to get another opion and tell them to give you one last break... other than that if you really want no jail, than RUN!

Anyway i feel bad and hope things work out better for you in the near future..

tpunx99GSX 10-30-2003 07:31 PM

I am always respectful when in court, the reason he gave me the jail time is because of my shitty record, 9 speeds, 5 others. CVD this was the street racing that i got busted for.

Jakey 10-30-2003 07:44 PM

This was only a judge, no jury, correct?

Goat Blower 10-30-2003 08:07 PM

Cops wouldn't be "lurking" on here. Does everyone here have a job? Being a cop is a job, just like anything else. Lots of cops love cars, and belong to car clubs. It's pretty conceivable that someone on here or that would join in the future is a cop. Maybe they'd let that picture slide, maybe they wouldn't.

Thing is, the only times I've ever been spoken to by a cop, I was doing something wrong. I deserved it. They are the babysitters of our society. Not all are good, but 98% are and they are just doing their job keeping people from doing stupid things. No reason to piss on their cars for that. Respect them and they respect you, pretty simple.

:brownnoser:

john 10-30-2003 08:42 PM

Tom, you raced CVD? Did CVD get away?

CVD 10-30-2003 08:47 PM

i wasnt there when he got his ticket, no. we did not race

I do fully agree with Mr. Steve here.

john 10-30-2003 08:56 PM

All of the cops I have meet have been nice except for the ones in Ramsey County. They have all been real asses.

Raptor 10-30-2003 09:46 PM

Well I first want to say sorry for hearing about it tom but like others have mentioned, it is no big deal going for a couple days. You will be fine and you can make up stories about all the little punks you traded for rolling paper and milk duds. It comes with the territory anyway, if you don't want the time, don't do the crime. I agree with Steve as well, Cops for the most part are decent people doing their jobs and you should have respect for them. There is a lot more to it than just busting speeders.

First as 520Talon said, No stream, No Crime, Any cop can come talk to me, I respect cops they put there lives on the line when they are needed. To Protect and Serve. Also, Sorry about the pic size, I resized down form 100% to 75% apparently next time I will go down to 40%. Also, everytime I have been pulled over, taken to court, or talked to by police it has been respectfully on both ends. Every other time I have either gotten a ticket or made sure that I dont shower in the designated :jammin: shower.

JET 10-31-2003 12:02 AM

I would definately trade 2 days in jail to get that reckless down to a speeding ticket! That stays on for 3 years. Most cops are good, but I have met a few bad ones. There is always that kid that got tortured in school and now has a god complex because he has a badge.

A//// Guy 10-31-2003 12:49 AM

Thats too bad Tom...

But I agree with steve on the cop thing... Dont do the crime and you wont do time....

But I hate how some cops speed and run lights and crap without sirens on or anything... that really pisses me off. What happens if you honk at a cop?

BTW that picture was stupid.

Dont have anything to say about the red lights but I dont have a problem with cops speeding. They could be on the way to a robbery in progress or something where they dont want the perpotrator to know he is coming.

slowbubblecar 10-31-2003 11:35 AM

yeah, then you just follow them a little distance back.

Holy old thread batman!

The funny thing is, I go to court the 10th of April and I will probably have to serve a couple days or even a week for driving after revocation. Laws suck ass!

Wow really old thread! It is funny because now I am, dare I say it, friends with a lot of the local sheriffs and police. We all lift together, and I see them at the bar on their nights off. Let me tell you, it is nice when you can call a cop on duty's cell directly to let them know of an incident. Personalized protection.

I go to court April 12, fifth court appearance for an erratic driving ticket they are trying to make stick to me. I got the ticket in a parking lot last April. They made so many mistake that it will never stick. I love the legal right to fight tickets again and again.

How bad do you have to be before this happens? I might be in the same boat.

Re: Can i borrow someones Soap on a Rope?

I agree with a couple people on here. I'm not trying to be a dink or anything but if you got 9 speeding tickets (WoW!) in your past, you probably deserved the 2 day jail time and whatever else. Obviously something has/had to change. If you're gonna go fast, why not just do it at Rock Falls? Again, i'm not trying to be a dink, but isn't this one of those cases where you say, "I had it coming this time?"

as for the honking, there was a report on the news a little while ago.

the guy got a ticket for noise distrubance I think and a warning from the judge that it is not his job to correct the officer.
