95 Talon TSi AWD

1995 Eagle Talon TSi AWD, auto.

I got this car while I was attending the Import Diesel weekend at BIR.. I believe it was Sunday, June 27th (26th???).

Since getting it nothing has been done EXCEPT taking out the back panels and the back seats.. No repairs or mods yet... So here are the pictures the day I got it:

What needs to be done follows:

Key made for the doors, A LOT of body work, a new paint job (same color *SIGH*..), interior as well....

And I still need to find out whether to go wingless of buy a factory thumbnail.. Also, I need to figure out the body setup... Stay 2ga Talon or go 2gb Talon. Or maybe do a 2gb Eclipse front with 2gb Talon rear... Along with wheels.... Stay the same or change..

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r.../dsminmngo.jpg

Help me out!

I say wingless 2gb Talon body. You plan on putting Evo 8 wheels on it like in the pics there too?

Yeah, that was kind of the plan... Not 100% though.

Also, this is what the rear end of the car looks like:

Originaly it was because the atena wasn't picking up any radio stations (no its not the radio because the radio is currently in my GS-T and picks up all radio stations), but then we found out the windshield wiper fluid wasnt coming out anywhere..

And after taking everything out and looking at the wiring to the...are they pumps? on the resivour, the male and female power connectors weren't even connect to one another, and the wiring looks getto rigged on top of that..

Which then led me to just wanting to take out the back seat... And it turns out, the terrible smell from the car was the back seats cusion...

Also, there is a wire that runs from where the headunit is supposed to be to the hatch area, and I was told it was for maybe, a subwoofer box or something? Not even sure, so I might just take that out...

Really, it was because I was bored... Plus now that all that is taken out I can clean it.... And get ride of some of the wires that are under there... Some of which I don't understand are there because they don't connect to anything... Kinda of confusing..

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Alright, time for an update...

The car has been at my dad's shop for probably a month now because we've had such bad weather where I am we moved it when we heard there was supposed to be hail..

Anyway, finally on the first of this month the project began :)

So here are some pictures from the day we started:

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101521-00.jpg

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101521-01.jpg

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101521-02.jpg

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101522-00.jpg

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101522-01.jpg

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101522-03.jpg

(Existing hail damage)
http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101523-01.jpg

(Front bumper before we decided to repair it)

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...1101523-03.jpg

So since those pictures I have sanded both front and rear bumpers, gotten a new hood, door panels out, mirrors off.... The only thing left to take off are the side skirts... And the screws holding them on aren't going anywhere so it's going to be a pain...

Anyway, more recent pics:

http://i467.photobucket.com/albums/r...D/100_2418.jpg

Also, can anyone tell me anything about the amps that came in these cars (under the passenger seat)? Because I found out it has one and was just wondering if it's good or worth keeping in the car...

Thanks!

And thanks for looking!

God bless.

Why do a bunch of body work just to paint it flat black?

Green HID's???? What is this? Need For Speed Underground?

For once, I agree with GH.

Dude pick a real color please, once you have been around cars a bit or maybe age a little you will appreciate a real color on a car, shit you love just a mint stock color DSM.

But its your car so whatever and looks like you have the tools to paint the car whenever u want.

so what are the plan for it after flat black and potentially illegal green headlights.

Not my choice... If I had my way, it would be a eletric blue or something nice like that but my dad said flate black because it will hide all the hail damage.

Hahaha, that's funny. Got the idea from a friend of Supa's on here or on mitsu-media.com. He has a flate black Neon with smoked lights, and green HID's. Snce I have to do flate black, seemed ideal.

If everyone on this site want's to come and yank the engine so we can paint the 'bay and take all the needed interior out to paint the jams, oh and the prep worth...you can cover the paint and clear too, that would help.

Just saying...

I want a blue color like the blues used on the new Corvette ZR1s (no, I do not like Corvettes).... I didn't pick flate black, my dad did because he said it would hide the hail damage a little more, and it was either the stock green or flate black... And I hate the stock forest dark green...

Hard intake, filter, FMIC, hard piping, Greddy Type-S BOV (recirculated), different exhaust (3 in' all the way back with test pipe in place of the CAT)... Maybe a built stroker engine some day down the road (a few years)... No, I'm not a ricer either... I'm not going to put neon and crap on it...body kits and all that..

Like I said, if I had the money, and ability, I would paint it another color...

how can you hate on vettes? they will blow you out of the water all day long. If you want a color to hide imperfections you want white!!! white will hide imperfections. But black even flat black will show all your imperfections......o and your car will look like shit and after the first month you will be very embarrassed to drive it in public

Instead of "hiding" hair damage, you could have just repaired it. Flat black cars remind me of my rattlecanned honda many years ago. Not the best memories.

LOL Who's got the money? To pay the person to remove the bad dents that my dad/uncle can't remove, paint, etc, etc....

DSMINMN 08-10-2010 07:48 PM

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

I guess I have to explain... I'm 15. I own no part of the shop. My dad and uncle own it, 50-50 between the two. I work for them every once and awhile. For example: if they need extra work done I will come and help. Or I'll work on my uncle's project cars and get $10 an hour for about 3 hours... Only $30..

Right now I only have about $100 in un-cashed checks, and about $100 cash in my wallet. That can't pay fro everything the car needs.

Sorry guys, if it was up to me, it would be different, but its not.

hate to tell you but that black 2g you just posted isnt flat black. its satin black with a clear coat (possibly a matte). I garuntee someone actually put money into his paintjob. FLAT BLACK wont look decent at all

DSMINMN 08-10-2010 08:05 PM

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Its a girl's car, and she said it was flate black. We aren't using rattel cans. Were using real paint, then putting a flate clear over it.

I just told my dad to paint it the blue color and he said that $200 isn't going to cover the cost to have the dents removed, and all the supplies.

turbotalon1g 08-10-2010 09:22 PM

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Its spelled "FLAT" not "FLATE", sounds like you don't need to worry about cars at all.

I wouldn't paint a car with $200 in my pocket, I don't think too many other would either, maybe wait longer?

Is the worrying about cars thing sarcastic, or not?

I technically have $300 but also I have $800 in the bank set aside for buying a car. To make a long story short I almost bought a '94 Talon TSi AWD Auto. that needed a hell of a lot of work. So, the money that guy was asking, I wrote down so I know how much I would have been out if I would have gotten the car.

But yeah, I'm not really understanding the difference in prep work and such between a flat* black or metallic electric blue paintjob.

Besides getting the dent problem attended to.

I Believe he means your age . . .being 15 and all do you have your drivers license to operate the car yet? Regardless if youll be happy with the flat or flate black which ever it is by all means go for itl. If you would like to change it later thats fine 2. I personally would of kept it the color it was painted the wheels black. Maybe lowered the car and then get a different 5 speed project car. Making the current one you own a somewhat decent looking quick DD. Regardless have fun and learn as much as possible with your new project.

Permit to operate any vehical, yes. This car can not be driven, given its current state.

So I keeping it green would look better?

As far as the 5-speed goes, I can drive one, pretty well if I do say so myself, but I heard these auto. trans. can be used to run 10's... With the exception of a shiftbox and high stall torque converter...

It took so long just to find a TSi AWD let alone a 5-speed... That would be another 2 years...

I'm trying to help you, I'm usually an asshole in person and come off like a complete asshole online.
But i'm sure you will be driving soon enough i don't care about that part. The $$ thing is what I'm talking about, classic DSMers are fueled by function over looks, while it gets old having crappy looking stuff. If I were you I would just get teh thing running first.

Don't believe everything you see online it's not as easy as it seems. There will be a few locally that will illustrate this for me I'm sure just give it time.

Get the car running solid then report back.

Nothing...that I know of. It is leaking a bit of oil and needs a new passenger side drive shaft. Nothing internally though.

Re: 95 Talon TSi AWD

Really all I KNOW I need is a different exhaust, or end tip/muffler. Because the whole dual, round to square tip muffler thing....isn't helping the looks.

This is my list, I guess you could call it, of possible things to get:
full 3" exhaust
Dejion intake
ARP head studs
shift box.

Or maybe it would be a better idea to save up and get a 6-bolt and build that? Ideas ideas...

My cousins '94 Civic:

Actaully this was before they painted another design on it.

But what I'm pretty much trying to say is, I'm the only one in my family (close to the age of legally driving) worried about performance. :( I tried to get my youngest cousin into DSMs but I lost hope when he said "I need a car I can put an awesome body kit on!"..

I think you should do maintenance and get a new axle first. 6 bolt I wouldn't worry about til your motor lets loose. Same with the exhaust, it's all functioning.

if nothing is wrong with the engine...just fix the oil leak, get a new passenger side axle. if the engine is solid, leave it be. the old saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it" is quite useful. what are your plans for this car again?

LOL this may sound a bit gay but my plans are to make it fast...er. Something I can drive whenever. I have a '99 GS-T too but that thing has 152,xxx, and its more my dad's car than mine.

I just want something faster, or camparibly faster rather, to most cars on the road.

Kind of answer your question?

Yep, my car is faster than my mom's camry. ;) most 'cars on the road' aren't going to ricer race you. as for going fast, fix the oil leak and do other maintenance to it. Maintaining a DSM is definitely a must, if you don't than the engine is bye-bye. After doing the regular maintenance (timing belt, water pump, etc) then start modding. The sky is the limit with modding DSMs. My car is plenty quick as it is for me but I'm planning to get 272s+DSMlink if the car doesnt sell.
