Exactly what I was thinking. The same is true for every race. They (blacks) need to realize that white people aren't the reason they have 9 kids, live on welfare, and can't quit sticking the needle in their arm.

But who am I to say anything, I am white and have obviously been feed from a silver spoon my whole life, never had to work for anything like the black man has had to. You're exactly right. You've never been a black person before. Neither have I, but you can't expect to ever be able to see the world as they have. If you go overseas to a homogeneous culture, you might get some idea of what it's like being black in a white society. I think you might find at first that you get stared at a lot, but beyond that you might notice that you won't be one quite the same playing field as one of them. You may be overqualified for a job and the perfect fit, but you'll be looked over or given a lesser position or pay simply because you're different. You could be fluent in the language and it wouldn't matter. You're an outsider.

I know I'm basically talking to myself since most racists are very close-minded, but if you ever try to see things differently, just know that there is a huge spectrum of people and generalizing is about the worst thing you can do for "race" relations.

I have both. How about you? You're obviously very oblivious to the world around you. This whole "overqualified and perfect fit for a job" stuff is complete BS. Have you even entered the adult working world yet? If anything, being black gives you an advantage since there are so many "black-only" college scholarships available. Don't forget about the stores/companies that advertise they are black owned and operated. How about government jobs where they have to hire at least a certain number of minorities even if they aren't as well qualified as a white male?

I'm starting to believe that you simply lack the character to tell us why we're wrong for what we say, and what we prove on an almost daily basis in this forum, as to what is wrong with this country and our society. The only thing I ever see you use as a debate tactic is more or less saying "you're wrong". No different than Tom has ever done except you use bigger words. Next thing you'll probably tell us that we should be providing constructive criticism rather than being negative all the time. There may very well be light at the end of the tunnel, but I'll be damned if we haven't just entered the darkness.

That's good. I'm not trying to get you to show that you can respect someone no matter what color their skin is, rather I'm trying to get you to understand in a deeper way how you can never know exactly what it's like for what you or I might call a "disadvantaged" person. Sure it's bad to knowingly take advantage of a system (i.e. slacking at work since no one is watching or having a bunch of kids to get more welfare money (and even that is a long term commitment)) but where there is a deliberate or unintended yet unchecked void in that system that could easily be filled by means of better education or opportunity, you can't blame it entirely on the ones who take advantage of that void. And although it may indeed be deliberate (such as a lack of supervision or instruction or what have you) it may be hard to perceive and therefore hard to overcome.

I think you are not seeing the whole picture. And it is most definately not as black and white, so to speak, as you are making it seem. There are many many facets to situations like that. Also, I understand that there are actually black people who believe crazy stuff like that, but that's just people. There are insane white people too. Every color of human has some group that just hates others without understanding them. I want people on this website to be a little more advanced than that.

Read my last post that I specifically targeted at Chris, but please don't dilute it down to me just saying you guys are wrong and I'm right. I really do know that I can't just up and change people with words. Actions are even worse at trying to convince people. But the thing is, you don't have to provide any criticizm, constructive or otherwise. But this is America, and you can say whatever you want. It just REALLY helps when you listen and mull over the things other people are saying too.

You never answered my question though: Have you entered the adult working world yet? Have you experienced first-hand the injustice against the black man in working America? Every company I've been with since college has employed multiple minorities and not a single one of them felt they were entitled to a certain job; they worked just like the rest of us to get to where they are.

I didn't answer your question because I was responding to your original post, not the part you added when you edited it. I wasn't looking back for edits, just moving foward, waiting to see where the thread would go. And as a matter of fact, I have entered the so-called adult workforce you speak of. I'm an employee at a blue collar company and I move furniture and other stuff that people own. I can't really tell for sure, but it almost seems like you are trying to play some kind of holier-than-thou card with the comments about the adult working world. As if I were a child. I'm the same age as you and I don't hate you because you have a higher paying job than me. You can drop that bit.

One doesn't need an education to know how they feel about their situation. You use the word nigger too freely and with no consideration of the consequences. You might not know this, but this site is not just a bunch of white people who don't mind the slur. Your words may never come back to bite you, that's true, but you may also never know if they do any damage to others.

How are "they" getting a sub-par education in the first place? Every race has the same opportunity for at least a High School education, not to mention all the college funds/tuition payment & re-payment programs/scholarships that people of color have. Did you know that in MN, You can get $1000 per semester just for being at least 50% black? And it is paid for by the state actually. I know this because my *gasp!!* black friend used it when she was going to college.

...but "black only" isn't? Like I said earlier in this thread, being a minority is, if anything, a benefit in life with more opportunities to get ahead being just handed to you. I knew some black kids in college who were getting scholarship checks just because they were black, it had nothing to do with their achievements, etc.

I know people on welfare making more money than me, and they still can barely pay rent, dont have a running vehicle, and are always trying to borrow money from me. I think the days of working hard to earn your pay is going away.

A few here are trying to muddy up this topic with off-topic BS. The simple fact here is that an extreme racist hate group is given a free ride by the government. There is an obvious imbalance here, and it's not OK because we're "getting what's coming to us". Racism has always been a mistake that most of us have learned from and moved away from, so if as a whole, we want to get rid of it all together, this kind of racist crap needs to be dealt with, not swept under the rug.

And for the 17-year olds trying to justify this blatant racism from the comfort of their parent's basement, you're not enlightening anyone here. The reason why we still see forms of racism is because of all these radical racist groups, black and white. Along with a DOJ and a president that is playing politics with race. In everyday life of interacting with people of all color, I don't see racism like this, everybody gets along and does their own thing. And I'm from the south. Children aren't born racist, so where does it come from? You want to see racism go away, end all the one sided programs that have muddied up the waters of equality. Every man and woman stands on their own merits, period, along with being held accountable for following the laws of this country. Taking from the rich to give to the poor does not only hurt the rich, it hurts the middle class and the poor. Ever had a poor man give you a job? What really has the welfare state done to improve a family's life, it's actually hurt it in my opinion.

Here's a thought:
If I have to take a drug test to get a job where I pay taxes that go to welfare, how about the recipient of my tax dollars having taking a drug test to qualify for it?

Ask any of those Black Panthers if they would like all the programs that are in their favor go away in the name of equality for all?

What have the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton really done to help their people. They've done a great job of helping themselves to piles of money in the name of keeping racism alive.

I'm tired of hearing how slavery was unfair. I agree it was wrong, don't think you'll find a person here who would say it was right. But damn, how long ago and how many generations ago was that? As a country, we did the right thing and moved past it a long time ago.

By today's standards, people of color have it much easier to get assistance with education, housing, etc. But it's the same with every race, you'll have those who will take advantage of what they can to get ahead through a great education and hard work, while others want to sit back and complain about unfair life is.

You get all the breaks, preference to jobs that you are not as qualified as the next person, you get the job because of your race.
