Well, the deal's done and it's in my garage. Now to figure out a whole new car because I'll be tearing into this one to find some horsepower. And yep, it's a turbo..... :sasmokin:

Re: My new whip
holy crap, I love esprit turbos! Looks flawless!

Re: My new whip
oh snaps. very nice ride indeed! Always saw a white one in Woodbury cruising around a couple years back.

Re: My new whip
Ha, pics are deceiving. It needs a lot of work including a full paint job. It's been repainted so a lot of it is shiny, but they painted around the emblems and such instead of taking them off, so it's getting a full repaint. I might even change the color to something darker, not sure yet.

Re: My new whip
Very nice, I will have to check this out sometime. So is the hp going to topple the 2.4/3575 setup?
|
Re: My new whip
Can you give us some specs on that car?
Year, rated HP, type and displacement of engine, etc? |

Re: My new whip
Nice purchase Steve. 1987?, 1988 CE? Type 910 correct? Also do tell what these have been going for lately as I've always been interested in them. I prefer the 1993+ design but beggers can't be choosers.

Re: My new whip
Nice pick up Steve, Congrats. I've always wanted to drop a 4g63 into one of those. I'd like to check it out some time.
BTW, was this on Ebay recently? I think I was looking at it on there recently :P. |
Re: My new whip

Re: My new whip
So is this taking the place of the Eclipse?
|
Re: My new whip
You don't see those around too often.

Re: My new whip
Awesome! I hope to see this car in person someday!

Re: My new whip
I'll try to answer a few questions all at once. It's a 1988 Esprit Turbo, rated at 215 hp, 2.2 liter turbo, five-speed, mid engine RWD.
This definitely won't be topping the old DSM setup, I'm thinking 350 hp would be all I need for this baby, especially since the trannies aren't known for being especially strong and they weigh just under 3000 lbs. They go between $8k and $30k depending on year and condition, the 88 and 89's can be found running and half decent for about $12k. I might have paid a little less than that.... This takes the place of the NSX I wanted. I wanted an affordable exotic, this will fit the bill just fine. Not sure if it will take the place of the Eclipse entirely, I might have to sell the GSX, I might not, I just bought a turbo for it so it might stick around a little while. I probalby won't drive it too often though. Momin, yep, it was on Ebay. :-) |
Re: My new whip
Oh yeah, I'm already thinking homemade air to water IC, 3" exhaust, and a few other tricks. I'm thinking the turbo might need some upgrading as well, I've heard they're a little laggy compared to newer designs.
