Kinda bothers me they are cutting back on the sport compact days. I don't really know if I wanna throw around 65 to go run on a test n tune..

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

If I don't take my car apart before April, I really want to try and make it to the first sport compact day. That way when my motor blows, I'll have a long time to fix it before the end of racing season in Oct. haha

we'll see. I'd love to go but probably not with the Galant.

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

I can't stand sport compact days. So many kids with 15 second or slower cars, cars leaking down the track and blowing up... I don't recall anyone getting much more than 4 runs on those days.

Test and tune days and fun days are the way to go, IMO.

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

I went with a couple buddies on our bikes last year to a sport compact day and we all had 20+ runs in. Opener might be a different story though.

Most cars are mighty slow/retarded, but it'll make you feel that much faster.

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

Haha that would be funny. A mitsustyle group of 10 people, all 12s or faster, dominating everyone. I'd rather do the T&T though, don't really want to see a bunch of ricers.

The best part is if you run 12s or faster you'll have a steady stream of fanboys checking out your car all day.

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

I can't believe you guys are stuck on this sport compacts being slow thing.
They sounds like complete shit and are loud as fuck and I hate it and the fact each pass last 15+ secs it feels like forever.
I can usually last an hour maybe 2 with those fantastic machines.

If you guys plan a day and my shit is in one piece I am down, but my last wed night BIR experience was that the track prep was horseshit and I was only running mid 12s and was all over the place.

How many times have you even driven your car at a sport compact day?

How bout MNSubaru? They have all kinds of guys that think their 13-14 sec cars are fast... plus we have a handful of member here that are on both sites (myself, Mr.98GSX, ylime, Kracka, Blageo, CarlVR4, etc.) that could help set this up.

None, which is why I said I'd like to go on a day like this..atleast there's no pressure to be fast, when you are around 16 second g35's and their evo wings, 2 tone paintjobs, and etc.

Shane@DBPerformance 01-26-2010 02:20 PM

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

There is more pressure on a sport compact day than a normal day to be fast. Nobody cares about or is watching some rice burner on a mostly domestic day. You run a 13.0 on a domestic day with a 4 cylinder and they are impressed. The best thing to be on a domestic day is a consistant bracket racer, regardless of if your running 15.0s or 8.5s.

Swifty1638 01-26-2010 02:21 PM

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

Yea, but we are talking sport compact. Either way, I usually go there, so I don't get shit for having some slow car on the domestic days, muscle days, or test n tune. Plus, SC day is cheaper..

Shane@DBPerformance 01-26-2010 02:32 PM

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

If you are trying to impress the other ricers, then goto a SC day. If you aren't trying to impress anyone and just want to run your best time, goto a normal day when there are some RWD cars putting down some rubber and they prep the track.

Swifty1638 01-26-2010 02:35 PM

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

Impressing others, I honestly don't care about. Like I said, it's cheaper, I'm not catching crap from muscle guys for my "jap crap" and because it's not as well prepped, I shouldn't break..as much.

I didn't get any crap for running 13's with my Talon a few years back on a fun day. Not sure what you're worried about Swifty. There was a stock truck there running 17s, an Insight, nobody seemed to mind.

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

On the fun day I went to, there were some mean looking and sounding cars there, but 90% were just that, loud and mean looking. They were running 12+ times all day (but consistently!). I was actually a little intimidated when I first got there and saw the other cars there, because here I was with my A/C running, and my car isn't exactly quiet, it's got exhaust and some lope at idle. But compared to those things, you woulda thought my car was electric, ha. Then when it came to running on the track, my quiet little dsm was running some of the faster times there.

So in the end, yeah who cares what you run, it's all about fun. And no matter what day you go, I'm sure you'll have fun, and there will be faster and slower cars there.

Spinning all the way through first really isn't all its cracked up to be, fun day would probably yeild you better times. I just wonder if its worth the extra $29

My car will not go down this track, but one of the first days up at BIR pending cash flow my rice burner should be their.

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

Fun Day > SC Day for the track prep alone.

Plus they run actual dial in times in the brackets, not the 11.0-11.49/1.50-11.99/12.00-12.49 shit

Back in the day Fun days and SC Days cost the same. Fun days are more now???

C3L1CA 01-26-2010 08:43 PM

Re: Rock falls raceway 2010 schedule!

Yep, SC days are $40 and Fun days are $69.

haha I always liked the big brackets on SC days when I'm on my bike beacuse I'm the only vehicle in the 11.0-11.49

It's nice for picking on slower cars too. If you run 13 flat and every else runs 13.3 or 13.4 you will have a hard time losing
