Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
Minnesota University Wants K-12 Teachers to Hate America
What are my Minnesotian brothers and sister up to?!?!?! :scared: |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
It sounds like the board wants to make teachers honest for once. Instead of letting these kids think that when they get out into the world there will be no such thing as social, racial, or sexual injustices.
Its funny because when you get into college and take a history course, you realise that everything you were taught in high school history is completly bullshit. Take for instance, christopher columbus and his crew slaying many native americans. k-12 you learn that it was a peaceful journey and they had a great feast that symbolized peace between two cultures... when in reality the crews of the settlers were engaging in travisties such as cannibalism, murder, rape and genocide. your world is thrown upside down because you have been lied to your entire life by teachers you trusted to tell you HISTORY, not a fictional fairy tale. But i guess you need to pay for that kind of knowledge. The fact of the matter is that they do not hate the country, they just feel that if you dont prepare the kids for the harsh world out there, they will end up hating america much more. Conservatives love to live in a little fantasy world where america is great and peace (among straight white men) is rampant. But the fact of the matter is that the world out there is filled with lies that have been told to us our entire lives. |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
Here we go...another great mitsustyle political debate lol

Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
My little brother and sister are still telling me about how terrible my car hurting the planet....I'd rather have them(kids) think about the planet than something that won't do much for their lives in that age.

Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
More liberal BS out of Minnesota; glad I left. I'm ashamed to hold a U of M diploma after reading this though.
Tom, you have quite a bit to learn about Minnesota's current K12 education system. |

Well, it's too bad you can't tell the difference between an unbiased story and a completely right-leaning publication such as this one. I'm sure if you read the University's own version you might be able to draw your own conclusions, but probably not, since Republicans tend to simply regurgitate the real bullshit spewed by people like Rush Limbaugh, et. al. The difference is, for how much garbage he puts out there, he actually has to do some research. I hate to call it that though. And if you are so adamant about bashing Minnesota, I say good fucking riddance. And don't prove me right that you're a closet Fascist by banning me cause I said something you don't like. |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
LOL Calm down there killer, everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion! I have the right to spew my conservative opinions just like you do your liberal ones. There is no such thing as a true neutral media outlet, and even if there was everything is in the eye of the beholder so you take the U of M's statement one way and I take it another. Get over it; facts of life son which is why we have our 2-party (realistically) democratic system.
Also, I have never once banned anyone (paybanning doesn't count) just for saying something I don't like. As I stated above, everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but members do get banned for violating forum rules which again have nothing to do with personal views and more to do with member bashing. Yet again though, another political thread and look who is turning it into a fight... |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
As it's been said before, opinions and discussion are always welcome. Once it gets to be a personal attack, well,.....................

Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
Wait, people have issues because teachers are going to tell kids that America isn't the best shit in the world? We're not, and we shouldn't claim to be. And teaching kids that we are is what causes the shit I see every day at work, where you get people thinking they're entitled to shit because they're in America.
Had a guy call the cops yesterday when we refused him service. Why? We couldn't do what he wanted so he got belligerent, and when we tried to kick him out, he called the cops. Quote:

Including yourself.
Kids just like to be rebellious against any form of control. Welcome to earth. Why is it someone always brings up Rush Limbaugh whenever someone is conservative? Maybe we should bring up Al Gore and how he made Billions of dollars off of American citizens from the bull shit global warming scare he spewed. |

Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
The current climate is that we're undermining our own country with apologetics. To somehow think that we as a whole are this overbearing, race-hating group of white capitalists is a bunch of sissy crap. We are a large group of multi-national people that strive to be great and create a better place for our kids. We are the greatest nation on earth and help countlesss countries around the world economically and with military protection or help. We have absolutely nothing to apologize to the world for.
The United States of America was created to get away from the very thing we are now becoming, a heavily-taxed nanny state full of political correctness but no real social or economic sense. We are quickly burying ourselves in debt with absolutely nothing to show for it and one day we'll wake up and wonder why we, like most of Europe, have 60% tax and $9/gallon gas. The answer isn't to drive 400# shitbox cars, the answer is to quit bowing down to the socialist environmentalist whackjobs and let good old money decide what the American public wants to drive. Our government is there to protect us from foreign enemies, not to run every aspect of your lives. Those of you that think you've somehow protected your country by sitting behind your computer screen need to wake up and smell reality. It's easy to sit and complain, it's something altogether different to actually do something for your country. |

Are you suggesting that we run for office or join the military? A typical citizen shouldn't need to be that involved--we have a representative government. Not having an opinion on matters of the day would suggest being intentionally uninformed about what is going on and surely you aren't suggesting that... |

Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
If anything, running E85 should make you want to keep your HFC since its worse for the environment than regular gasoline.

E85 is clean. A typical FFV driver can prevent 4 tons of lifecycle carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and other harmful pollutants from entering our air every year by fueling with E85 instead of gasoline. Using E85 can reduce tailpipe emissions such as ozone-forming pollutants by about 20%. E85 will also reduce evaporative emissions of air toxics and ozone formers. American Lung Association |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
Look what it takes to create 1 gallon of E85.

Guys, I think what he was getting at was that there is less emissions from the actual car itself, hence why he got a test-pipe. Not the overall process of making E-85>burning it in your car. |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
Either which way it goes; hating America, loving America, it really won't matter who influences the students and how they form their own opinions. There is much more influence in the media; television, newspaper, radio, and of course, the internet. Most people, I believe, would rather form "their own opinions" based on the research that they do outside of school, biased research or not.
Whether or not the faculty of the K-12 schools will be teaching to literally hate America, or whether they'll be teaching the students how to think for themselves (when in reality they won't be, no one really does, they just form their 'own' opinions upon those that have formed their 'own' opinions) isn't going to matter all of that much. I don't know if anyone's noticed or not, but the last big change that this country has had unto itself where we came together as a nation for at least a brief moment in time in just plain awe and fright was a little over eight years ago, and before that it was, what, the Revolutionary War? I'd rather learn from the teachers the basics of education, and then learn more about other people rather than the country. Really, the country doesn't matter, but it is the people that live here, the people that die here, that matter. Screw the country, love your neighbor, because once you love your neighbor, you'll love the country. Gotta start small to get somewhere big. |
Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
We don 't need teachers planting any "seed" of any type into children's young minds, other than that an education is a great thing to have and that you can reach your dreams if you work for them. Research shows that your life long core beliefs are set in motion at early age, not in high school or college. Take a look at marketing as an example. Major car companies, etc. put out children's toys with their trade marks and designs. Why? Because when you come of age and can afford to buy something of your own, subconsciously, you'll be pulled in the direction of what you remember as a good thing from your childhood. Think when "young Tommy" get's his little John Deer tractor to play with and have fun with today in the sandbox at the age of 5, that when he needs a lawn mower or tractor later in life he won't at least consider, if not purchase a John Deer for himself? I'm not making this stuff up, it really works. Does it work on everybody, no, but it does work.
School should be about education, not agendas. And as far as education goes, we're getting left way behind the rest of the world. |

It will take many years of research and development to get E85 to a better way to produce it. But like most conservatives you seem to be thinking short term. The whole "drill baby drill" is a very typical conservative view, short term answer to a long term problem. But if you take the time to "develop baby develop" in new energies you can eventually increase the potential of many other methods. I will NEVER take my vote for Obama back. I believe that he is trying to work towards solutions for all of the problems that seem to be coming up, but what can one man do? We put more stress and issues on him than ANY other president, and he is thinking Long Term. Not short term "lets give this country a bump just to get me through this presidency" thinking. |

Re: Teachers must HATE AMERICA!?!?!?!?!
They already have efficient ways of making ethanol and other parts of the world are using it very successfully, we just don't use them in this country which is why I have such a problem with it. It has nothing to do with me being conservative or liberal, it has to do with me caring about what is best for our economy in the LONG RUN.
