how many bolts (flywheel) does the evo 8 motor have?
could you install a evo3 exahust manifold and put mitsu style turbos on?

LightningGSX 04-10-2004 07:48 PM

I'm not sure about the flywheel, but why would you want to put an evo3 mani and old mitsu turbos on an evo8? The evo8's twin scroll mani and turbine housing are a superior design.

SquackDiddy 04-10-2004 07:52 PM

because there arent any upgrades for it. does the evo 7 use a twin scroll turbo?

Enes 04-10-2004 08:32 PM

hold your horses and fully utilize the current turbo on that car, upgrade other components and THEN go up in turbo size..

LightningGSX 04-10-2004 09:48 PM

Also ,the compressor and turbine housings are reversed on the evo8 turbo.Meaning the intake is on the drivers side.

Super Bleeder!! 04-10-2004 10:05 PM

the stock turbo is good for 11s, and yes their are upgrades already available (think HK$)

CVD 04-10-2004 10:10 PM

Those stock turbos can make a LOT of power. By the time you are even close to maxing it out there will be plenty of aftermarket available.

Kracka 04-10-2004 11:58 PM

I belive the EVO has an 8-bolt flywheel pattern.

A couple of performance sources,

Buschur Racing
Magnus Motorsports
Pruven Performance

Shane@DBPerformance 04-11-2004 11:30 AM

First off, who cares how many bolts the flywheel has. More or less bolts don't mean anything. The reason 2G 7-bolt motors crankwalk isn't because there is an extra bolt on the flywheel. The 1G 7-bolt motor very rarely crankwalk.

There are turbo and manifold upgrades for the EVO 8. There are guys out there running big turbos with different manifolds and there are also ones that bolt onto the stock manifold.

SquackDiddy 04-11-2004 11:32 AM

8 bolt wow thats a lot. is that good or bad? ok it doesnt matter how many bolts are on the flywheel.

ok i was wondering then if there are any bolt on turbos for the evo 8?

At-Least-It's-An-Evo 04-11-2004 11:39 AM

Didn't he just answer those questions above? :censored:

The 6G72 has an 8-bolt flywheel and 4-bolt mains, and it's a damn good engine. The number of bolts don't mean anything.

Kracka 04-11-2004 01:48 PM

This thread is fucking retarded and has no point. Do you even have a car yet? Go ride a bicycle :)

GS_Turbo91 04-14-2004 03:08 PM

6G72? i thought it was a 4G63. correct me if im wrong.

Enes 04-14-2004 03:12 PM

I just set myself on fire.

JustROLLIN 04-18-2004 08:55 AM

The Evo 8 motor is a 4g63. Its just a mirror image of our motors. The turbo is good up to 400+.

Halon 04-18-2004 01:24 PM

yes someone makes a bolt on turbo for evo8's. I forgot the site but if you really want to know it, i can find it for you again. But the thing is like 2 grand or something. Also there are many companies who make turbo kits for those cars like HKS, Greddy, RnR, Buschur, and many more. Right now the fastest EVO8 is one that was completely built by RnR. His kits are prolly one of the cheapest priced ones there are. But if you want just a bolt on turbo kinda like the PTE's for DSM's that just bolt up, then yes there is one company out there who makes them but they charge up the ass. BTW, why are you asking? Do you own an EVO?

Isnt this the kid who just turned 16?

TheBlizzard 04-18-2004 03:08 PM

I second Chris, this thread is fucking gay, it should go in the trash just like the for sale ads with only one post.

Basic Tech? Ahhh @#$%

LightningGSX 04-18-2004 03:19 PM

Jeez, take it easy, he just asked a couple of questions.I don't know about you guys, but I was into cars long before I had a license.Give him a break

TheBlizzard 04-18-2004 03:48 PM

Hey Eric, go and read the first question. I mean come on, this is all shit you can search for, there is tons of info on various sites that tell you everytihng down to what the fucking TSI stands for with Eagle Talons. This site is pretty lax usually but I just thought it was going to start being a little tighter ship. Go over to NABR and put this thread up, it would be the your first and last one.

Anyway I will be nice now. :goodluck:

I can agree with that, but you guys don't have to tear him up for being young.

I never said one word about his age, that doesn't concern me, I am just trying to help him so he doesn't get on a hard core board and get his ass ripped way worse than here.

CRAIG

AJ 04-18-2004 04:05 PM

That and if he is just learning about cars maybe he has no clue about where to go for other info. Link him to vfaq and call it quits then. He posted a questions got some answers. It's the crap the thread didn't need that makes the thread worthless.

TheBlizzard 04-18-2004 04:08 PM

Ok I will take my toys and go home, its your sandbox.
