In high school. I woke up to 93x saying a plane hit the WTC, and I was like what is that... lol I kept picturing a tiny airplane sticking out of a building like the convention center roof. Then later... watched the news all day in school.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
Sitting at work on the 11th floor of the TCF Bank Tower downtown, had just started my first big IT job a week or two prior. The internet quickly became useless as every news site was being flooded so we turned to radio and a tiny black and white TV someone had at their desk. We were sent home as they closed the IDS Building (across the street from us) and a few adjacent building. There was hardly any traffic on the roads.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
I'm the token old-guy in this crowd. I was 29 and working at MPR in downtown St Paul. Since I was on a fitness kick at the time, I was at the gym and I saw the commotion on the TV as soon as I got in to work. I walked around pretty stunned for a few hours...I think everyone had that reaction.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
I was in Mr. Kopp's graphic design class, a junior in high school. One of my buddies came in the room and said that there was a bombing in the WTC (not really knowing what was going on), Mr. Kopp tryed to get everybody to sit down and nobody listened, about 5 minutes later everyone in the school was hudled around every TV in the school. Nothing really got done that day as everybody was kind of in shock. One year and two months later, I joined the Army on my 18th B-Day. (Mom didn't want me to so I couldn't when I was 17) I now have a 9/11 theme sleeve tattooed on my left leg, it's a work in progress.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
I just started my job at Winmark, second day on the job. People just sort of stood around and tried to watch reports online and crammed around the few TVs we had in the office. I left at lunch and went home to watch on CNN, being so new and with everything going on that day I don't think anyone knew I had even left.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
damn it is crazy how everyone remembers where they were during this incident.
I was in Choir class, 1st hour. Teachers came by and told us the news and we watched the news the whole day through out the classes. I remember everyone was shocked. Everyone thought it was "made up" and everything but it hit everyone that it wasn't fake and this is real. quite crazy when you see the towers fall though....very crazy... |

Sleeping and my mom called me up freaking out that America was going down and that we're all gonna die, I hung up and went back to sleep. Then off to work at a gas station, lines for gas for miles in all directions, because of the price scare.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
I was working at my first real full time job. We didn't have any tv's there (it was a target store supply warehouse) so all we had was the radio. I remember there was alot of confusion in the news at the time and nobody really knew what was going on so I didn't really understand how serious it all was till I got home and saw it on tv.

Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
I was working at Metro Mitsubishi and heard about it on the KQ morning show. Went to the waiting room to see the damage to the trade center on CNN. As soon as I saw the hole in tower 1 I knew it was no Cesna.
I got there just in time to see the 2nd plane hit live. Everyone thought it was a replay untill the plane got close and you saw the other tower was already burning. Right then and there I new it was only going to get worse. It was a crazy day. |
Re: Where were you 9/11/01?
It was a messed up day. I was in some kind of history class in the lovely BCHS (senior year) when we found out. The second plane had just hit and I remember the teacher was in tears. She was freaking out.
The next class, the teacher told us it wasnt a big deal and he ended up locked in his office so we could watch. He had just gotten out to see the first tower go down and he then realized how big of a deal it was. After that the day was a wash. The pseo at Hennipen tech was cancelled so I ended up waiting at the high school waiting for my freinds to get out of class. I still went to work but nobody was in the mood to buy auto parts that evening. |
