Got Fuel?

http://awddyno.com/prod1/InjectorDynamics2200cc.JPG

Just got a set of these in with Mitsubishi adapters on them for DSMs, Evo 8 and Evo 9. 2200cc at a 43.5 base fuel pressure and they are capable of being run at extremely high fuel pressures, unlike most fuel injectors.

The 1000cc version of these injectors tune, idle, and respond like a factory stock injector. We have tuned a bunch of S2000s, Acura RSX's, and turbo B-Series cars on the 1000s and they usually run amazing. The 2200s should hopefully kill the 1600s out there in idle quality and drivability. The main problem with the 1600s is not that they are too big, it's that they are just a poor injector and do not have linear enough flow, a pulse width of 1.5ms can actually give less fuel than 1.25ms. That can cause problems and force you to have to run the car richer at idle and part throttle with the 1600s to get any drivability.

I am trying these tomorrow on an Evo 9 with an AEM EMS on it. Even with an aftermarket peak & hold injector driver box, the AEM EMS can't handle the 1600s very well, so this should be a good test.

Yep. They are a step up from the big Siemens Deka injectors as far as tunability goes.

They should work great, since the OEM Mitsu ECU injector drivers can handle the 1600s and 1650s better than most ECUs. The 1600s/1650 aren't perfect with the factory ECU/DSMLink, but at least the car usually drive decent.

They are very expensive, but they avoid having to goto a 2 fuel rail setup, different intake manifold, and 8 injectors on a lot of cars(1000s or smaller primaries for idle/drivability with 1600 secondaries coming on under boost), or if you actually need more than 1600 of flow.

Very expensive is right! Sheesh!

How much?

around 240.00 each

might have to save to get a set for the spyder when I start working on it some day. but whats a few more years since it has been apart for almost 8 years now

Re: Got Fuel?

That's a bargain when you figure in how much it takes to have two rails, eight injectors, and the corresponding fuel lines to do it. Plus you could run these with Link, doing eight injectors with Link takes some measures I wouldn't be comfortable with. At least before the new version came out.

Re: Got Fuel?

Well, they seem to work very well. No problems controlling the A/Fs at idle or cruise, runs/smooth fine at 1.0 lambda cruising part throttle. They respond like a normal injector, tune like a PTE/FIC 1200-1250.

Wow! What local evo9 needs these? I wanna see the dyno chart ;)

^^ I'm guessing maybe that white one that sat in their shop forever.

Re: Got Fuel?

better off buying these vs buying 2 sets of injectors at the same price, then avoid buying the extra rail, extra lines, and extra tuning required to run so much stuff

That was an Evo 8 from a couple years ago.

that makes RIDICULOUS power

Re: Got Fuel?

That's a lot of money. I wish there was a proven 1600 size injector that would tune like a smaller injector and take care of the "drivability" issues that most 1600's tend to cause.

i'm jealous of said power. It's nice.

It would have ran out of fuel on 1600s.

I guess IF I ever get to that point, i'll also need to look into these.

I was reading on their website a while back and at 100psi fuel pressure they'll flow 3000cc. The 1000's can handle that pressure as well, I think, so if you don't want the 2200's, go with the 1000's and up the pressure.

Nice numbers. What size turbo? Takes a while to spool

Shane@DBPerformance 09-10-2009 07:58 PM

Re: Got Fuel?

It's a T3 billet 67mm. It hits 30psi at around 5300 on the dyno, even though it looks like it's hitting high boost at 6000+ from the torque in those charts. Probably the cam/head just not being the best for mid range power.

You need some crazy fuel pump setup to be able to run a base fuel pressure of 100psi though. Walbro's don't like past 90psi total fuel pressure, so we normally have to run a base fuel pressure of around 43psi on a turbo car (43base + 40psi boost = 83psi total with some room to spare).

lol, thats fucking sick. With all this E85 around Evos and DSMs are turning into supras.

Re: Got Fuel?

So the new billet wheels flow a little more air then the cast counter parts? That is a lot of power, good job.

Hell yea they do! 300wtq by about 5200rpm, I've certainly seen worse...what intake manifold, ported stocker or some sort? Srsly, who's car is this!?

It makes a lot of power huh. ;)

Cher, get another evo already, bolt-ons are so much fun! Don't need this much power to have fun with one ;)

Oh i know. Bolt on that manifold and billet 67. Bolt on that head on the 2.3 block. Perfection.

Goodbye bottom-end ;) Ooh, punny...both low-rpm torque AND the stock rods/pistons will be missing from that equation!
