Went back to a stock turbo setup.
I recently changed my setup to the fp white turbo, it flows 10% more than the stock 9 turbo. As most of you know I have a fully built 2.3L stroker. Took the car over to MAP today to let jordan work on tuning it. Outcome suprised me at the boost level I had it at. At 25psi I made 458.70hp and 476.58tq. I forgot how the stock sized turbo's spool up, its alot of fun. Jordan said theres a bit more it it, I made on one run 465hp and 483tq but it was a bit lean, my single fuel pump is maxed out. I will have a dyno graph up later tonight. Im still on the stock intake mani and throttle body and an unported stock exhaust manifold.

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Holy fuk! I bet you're just grinning from ear to ear on that setup! I'm sure it doesn't hold power up top but DAMN look at the torque! That is pretty badass man. I would not even think about touching that setup ever again, that is a wide-ass power band.
Linked the full-size :D http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...g?t=1242777117 |
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Awesome! I've been looking a bit at the Whites lately. Great autox/street turbo IMO.

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Great numbers man! Plan on taking her to the track?
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
I will kick you very hard if you think about changing turbo setups again. This is very impressive and has to be a blast on the street!
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Damn, nice numbers. That power band SCREAMS AutoX car.
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Ya I had quite a bit of fun with the car tonight, I forgot a few times how fast it spooled and broke the tires loose of a few turns. I wont be changing this setup anytime soon, I think for next year its going to be the FP Red.

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
How much tuning time did it take to do that?
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
what happened with the HTA turbo?
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
I sold the HTA Kit.
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Let me know when you sell the White ;)

Dude, get your ass out to an autox already. If you've got driver mod, that thing'll be a serious SM competitor.

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Wow that is an awesome power band!

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Not bad, though I personally would've just gone with a stock 8 w/ a 10.5 or a 9 turbo (as it'd be really close to that power) but I think you were telling me you got that turbo through some trade with your HTA setup so I suppose (if that was the case).
Only reason I think it's alright is cause I know Shane's dyno'd a stock turbo'd 05 Evo8 making 360 DD awhp and there were other stock turbo'd Evo9's making 370-380 DD whp on similar boost levels. That's about 445-give or take some-Dynojet whp. Question is, is it really worth getting that turbo as an 'upgrade' when looking for something more? It almost seems about as much as an upgrade as it is going from a K03 to a K04 on them VDubzzz. And why'd you only rev to 6700? |
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
He got a really good deal on this turbo for his other setup.. I think its pretty good power considering the boost level and the lack of fuel.. and the torque is even better.. Like he said before he is planning on going bigger later but for the moment is happy with the outcome.. His boost peak hit 25psi and then dropped to 20psi.

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Ya im aware of the dyno readings, Im at the point where I could care less about what the dyno says. My car rips around like no other right now and I love it. Im still at pretty low boost, I could crank it up once I get my dual pumper. Right now with the calculations I should make about 393awhp and 409 tq on a dyno dynamic dyno. I got this turbo setup for pretty much free.
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Interesting that you ran out of pump so soon. A lot of people get another 50-60 whp before running out on e85. Any ideas why? Did you see fuel pressure dropping with more boost?
|
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
I only have 1000's to, I could just get bigger injectors and make some more but I might as well just put the dual pumper in for when i get my FP red.

Decent brake pads are cheap :D

My car did 370 on the DD at DB, and 414 on the Dynojet at MAP. |
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Well we will just have to see on the next dyno day. I swear everytime I go to a dyno day at DB, something happens to my car and always come home dissapointed.

Anyhow, I hate Evos. And Mike.... I hate silver Evos. But Silver Evos with black housing headlights and tail lights? Totally different car, love 'em. Haha. |
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Nice powerband!

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Looks good, Mike. Let me know when you want to hit up an autocross and I'll show you how to drive it. ;)
I personally am not sold on the FP White. Is it really an upgrade from a IX turbo? More like a sidegrade. |
Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Well, its not like Mike was looking to upgrade from a IX to a White, it was all part of the deal he arranged and it sounds like he is very happy which is all that matters. I would take a white over a stock IX turbo.
Another evo with an FP Red 1000cc and single walbro started to run out of fuel around 420hp at DB. Looks like the pump is maxed but the 1000's could be real close too. I bought 1250cc injectors and will be selling my 1000's soon. I also am going to skip dual pumpers for now and try more of a "domestic" type solution to the fuel pump. |

Re: Went back to a stock turbo setup.
Making good power, and awesome torque on a smallish turbo makes a really fun to drive car.
Good setup, nice looking dyno chart. |

Ya I still have more room to move on the injectors and the pump, I made the same power as bills white evo rs but we backed it down a little cause my idc was getting to high. Bills car made 415 at DB after making 460 at map the night before the dyno day. So I should be right around there. Next year Im either going with the MAP turbo or the FP Red. Out of all my setups this year (4088r,hta37r,fp white) I like the powerband and the fun factor of the white the most. |
