Car gathering tomorrow morning

Not sure if anyone here has been to one of these, but it is just a gathering to meet other car people. I haven't been there before but plan on going tomorrow. Just thought I would let people on here know about it. Below is a link about it on the viper forum. I know a few viper guys going but I am hoping ot run into a few lambos and other high end cars.

If you've never been to one of these, you want to go. Freaking insanely cool/fun/breathtaking! :D

There is seperate parking for people who don't want to be in the assigned areas. I will be there and my brother might be there with his car also. I have never been to one before but I have heard they are very fun.

I know a few people here are going. I might have to drop by since it's right on my way in between picking up car parts at two places down south.

I may be going, not sure yet. If I go, I'll definitely be rocking the camera.

whats the deal with this place? You can buy units? Do they limit what you can do in them? I've spent a while reading their site and its a bit vague.

It is free as far as I know. They just want similar cars in similar areas

There's a spectator parking lot if you don't want to roll out your 'rari for them :D

I love that I can roll in there in the evo and be 'one of the gang' but have paid 1/3 the price or less :D Basically if you have a clean, nice looking sports car, bring it!

You can do pretty much anything with them. Go check it out, you'll see what I mean.

I went with my dad in his vette... it was fun. I didn't realize the parking lot was dirt. My dad was like 'hell no' to that.

Those garage units are pretty cool, but i'm guessing they get expensive if you get a decent sized one. They say you can get them for 40k though.

Re: Car gathering tomorrow morning

That's retarded. I'll take a house with a garage attached and make the lady park outside. I won't be relegated to an off-site garage with big crowds every month. :)

Maybe the reason I don't understand spending so much money on a garage in a place like that is because I ain't got no money.

I was there with some of the MN 3/S guys. They had a great turnout. Saw Andrew on the way out. If you want to see some of the most exotic cars in MN, this is the place to go. Wow.

later,
Curt

That all works good in theory, but what if I don't want to buy a house?

Then you're anti-American. lmao, just kidding. I actually don't feel as strongly about it as I made it seem. I currently keep my car "off site" and usually work on it over there, so I am actually being a hypocrit.

Re: Car gathering tomorrow morning

Yeah, same here. The commute just to work on my car is a PITA, but I live in a condo that doesn't allow car work, nor storage of as many vehicles as I own :) I really like living in a condo, otherwise.

Its a man-resort more than anything! I think it would be great to have a garage away from home to get together with your friends, hang out, and wrench. Basically, its an adult clubhouse :D

I thought that place was pretty nice. I don't think 40k is that bad either though. There were a lot of nice cars there and the place filled up quick.

s1ngletracker 05-03-2009 02:27 PM

Re: Car gathering tomorrow morning

I think 40k is for a 13' by like 20' unit. Pretty small.

SnoEclipse 05-03-2009 05:01 PM

Re: Car gathering tomorrow morning

A double-wide unit with a decent set of garage tools and a lift costs around $100k. Some of the larger/nicer units there, especially the ones with front and back garage doors (drive through) cost over $250k.

James, Were you south on 65 in Ham Lake/Blaine today? I was heading north and my gf was like "is that a viper?". I looked over and say a viper in gray and was like "that's James!"

I had mine through that area on Saturday. My brother has a house a little north of that area so you could see either of our cars going through that area. My brother's black convertible went through there yesterday, but mine was in the cities most of the day.
