Got a new car
 

After driving my brothers car enough, I decided I had to get one. It is a 2002 GTS and I picked it up in Chicago with 7,800 miles on it. It is a little dirty in the pics from the drive back, but I got it without a rock chip, scratch or ding on it. Not sure how many mods I want to do to it as it is pretty fun as is, but I am sure I will do something to get a little more about. I am considering bringing it to the dyno day, but want to see what my schedule is like first. The numbers won't be to impressive, but it would give me a base number if I decide to do more.

Very hot, but would be even better with some new wheels on it. I have never liked those much. That color is sexy as hell though.

nice, i guessed it was a viper before I clicked.
How much did that run?
My friend had an '05 with i think 30-40kmiles for 42k.

Just don't have a douche sig, '05s are as quick as B16G cars.

I like vipers, that style you have is cool.

I got it for 34k, but I couldn't find another 02 for under $49k. I am not too worried about the depreciation on it as I got it with only 7,800 miles for less than half the sticker. I think it will hold its value a little better now than it did for the previous owner. I was looking at some of the newer style ones, but I don't like the look of them as much. This is the last year of this body style and the older style ones seem to be more popular. I coulld have gotten a local 04 for about the same price. I would have liked to find a blue and white, but for the price I paid, I would be looking a 96 with over 50k on it. After getting this one, I think I like the color better anyways. These are pretty fun cars stock, but a well modified dsm would be able to beat them.

As far as the wheels go, at least they are better than the 3 spoke razor style that come on my brothers. I will probably leave them for now though as it is hard to find a 18" X 13.5" 6 lug wheels for a reasonable price.

lol, i hear this 2nd gen has all forged internals and yes the color is awesome. Having max tq all the time is sick and those long gears just beg for boost or bottle.

I wouldn't say a well modded dsm.:hah:

Nice! I would have to say, when someone says Viper, this is the body style I see in my head. GTSs are my favorite!

There are a few decent sized viper junk yards in Wisconsin ;) Being there or not will most likely depend on where I am for work the week before. It can change quickly.

His doesn't have the forged internals but mine does ;) We have to line them up soon. Initial feel is that mine is faster but it just may seem that way as one of my rear tires is crappy and the car goes sideways in second. I just need to get time to swap my other tires on the car.

turbo1gtalon - you still going to be running the 16g this year or are you going bigger?

Just pick any 16g car on e85.

Wow, that's quite an upgrade from the DSM's! I still love Vipers, instant torque, sex appeal in spades, especially the GTS. I wouldn't worry much about depreciation either, you stole that thing.

That is what I was thinking. They fall in price like every other car, but there there aren't as many around so prices have still been decent. I see people still trying to get just under 30k for their 16 year old 93 vipers. I think the one I bought will hold its value pretty well for a while.

Brownman's old setup last summer was faster than my evo I thought? I think we test and compared one night, close but I think he was pulling on me slightly.

I didn't know i was getting called out by the sweet vipers, plus like I said i rolled an '05 back when i had the B16G on less boost.

I would never deny a good race, its all in good fun.

Hey, I have the first race against the new car ;)

His s/b faster but we will see. Mine feels more powerful but that is just as mine gets a little squirly in the first couple of gears while his takes off.

Didn't really get these cars to be race cars or anything. Just wanted something that was fun, something I liked the look of, and something that had a little power. Satisfied so far.
