xbox or ps3

I own a 360 and have a few friends with ps3 and we always get in friendly arguments over which is better, the ps3 is more expensive has less games but free online play and its a blueray player not to mention you can't even hear it with a stethescope. The 360 has way more games but sounds like a 2.4 stroker 2 stepping in a tunnel. But its less expensive and more arcade like. Opinions!

PS3 for sure, they don't get the ring of death. I've heard you can get a download for it so you can play PS2 games also

Re: xbox or ps3

I have both, and equally enjoy both. The older ps3's could play ps2 games, but the newest ones don't. I got the red ring, which was under warrenty so I got it fixed. Which ones best? I'd say ps3. The games on 360 are plentiful, but it's jet engine sound pisses me off. The ps3 graphics seem ahead of xbox, just got kill zone 2 for ps3 and was blown away by the cut scenes.

I'm not mutch of a Gamer and have no experience with the Xbox, But I love our PS3. The blue ray/upconverting DVD player works great. The media center is a must If you download any movies of the net. We've also been using a program called Playon to stream Netflix play it nows , Hulu, Youtube, CBS.com, CNN.com and ESPN.com to the playstation its awsome. No need for a DVR when we can stream Hulu and CBS.com. BTW MY wife plays plenty of games too.

I had a 360 for a month or so played it a few times and sold it. it was not as fun as our wii. Some time I will get a ps3 just for grand turismo and the blue ray

PS3 for the graphics and overall quality; XBOX consoles break down and their graphics aren't even in the same galaxy as PS3. When I am gaming on my 46" 120hz Sony Bravia LCD I almost get dizzy from how clear and how good the motion flow is. XBOX doesn't even look close.

Metal Gear for the ps3 has warnings because of the graphics, you can get sick playing it.

I have both and the Xbox hasn't been turned on more then maybe 3 or 4 times since I got the PS3. PS3 takes the cake in every respect IMO.

Re: xbox or ps3

yeah...the ps3 you will love. Have you guys played Kill Zone 2? graphics are crazy good. Lets just say I got dizzy playing it...and I'm not one to get dizzy. For GT5 Prologue, the game is sex in my eyes but I just hope in the finished GT5, the online play is much better and easier.

We have a 360 and a Wii. The Wii gets more play time, but I love forza 2 and gta4.

I still want a PS3 though because it is a better console. The XBOX was just cheaper.

Re: xbox or ps3

I have both:
Xbox is way better for gaming, and the online service and online content so 10x better.

PS3 makes for a great Blu-Ray player; that's all I use mine for b/c it's worthless for anything else. PS Network sucks, games suck, etc.

Re: xbox or ps3

the xbox seems to have a classic arcade feel to it, and i HATE the ps3 controller, its like something you would get in a cereal box, but i wouldnt mind having a ps3, I do admit when i turn my xbox on, all the power goes out in the eagan area lol

Re: xbox or ps3

As far as the Graphics go, a majority of the time Xbox actually has higher resolution then the PS3. Theres plenty of independent studies that show this.

The xbox does get red ring, But they also get a 3 year warranty, and will usually also usually send you free stuff if it happens to red ring.

As far as games go, it's not even a competition, the 360 takes that hands down.

PSN is a Joke, thats why it's free. I'm okay with paying $3 a month for great online. Also you can have Netflix instantly stream movies to your console.

The PS3 has BR, which is a good quality.

Overall, if you wan't to play games on/offline go with a 360 elite, there quiter and have a lot of features. If you like BR movies, and the occational game go with the PS3.

Or if you like to play games, and the occasional BR, go with the PS3 :)

Coming from someone who doesn't own one, nice lol

I bought mine for games and it's secondary feature is BR.

hmm...I don't know, but the PS3 we have has been working perfectly fine for us for the past 2 years with no issues. not trying to bash on a system but from what i've witnessed, the 360 does have good customer service but i dont think i'd want to deal with that red ring of death. PS3 is great for blue ray but im still kinda questionable about how reliable it is when I keep watching Blue Ray than switch to a game.

On graphics though, you guys should try Kill Zone 2 for ps3, the graphics are insane...insane. I havent played the 360 much but when i compared the 360 and ps3 graphics in COD5, there was little difference IN my eyes. ALL around, it's what you're gonna use it for. But I'm lovin my ps3 for right now.

NOTE: ps3 guys, add me!

i say ps3, you got a blue ray dvd player and a gaming system, i know some electronics guy awhile back said get the ps3, and the online play is free. unlike 180. i think xbox screwed up on this one, i rather have the original xbox modded! and a ps3 and a wii so my fatass can work out.... but just my .02 :)

On a side by side comparison done by IGN, GOW 2 on 360 has better graphics/higher resolution the Killzone 2 on PS3.

Both have goods and bads, But I'd rather just buy a blu-ray player and save $100+

When you do something like that, you get a slow loading player that could become obsolete if it doesn't have the option to update firmware and support the Profile 2.0 movies. PS3 is one of the best options for a Blu-Ray player that is future-proof in that regard.

You can get the Samsung for $200, or $150 if you look around, Loads great/fast, and has updatable firmware.

So you would spend $50 more (and I doubt the upconverting is as good as the PS3) and have a less reliable and louder game machine? Not to mention the media center aspect of the PS3 and it can upgrade HD's easily. The best thing about the X360 is the cheap and more readily available games since it is older.

Reliability is fine with me, Since when i got RROD i had a new xbox at my door in 3 days.

The new Elites aren't loud at all, Using Windows Media Connect on the xbox is amazing, you can almost completely control your PC through your xbox.

Xbox has infinitely better online, and has more "great" games. Both of those are what gamers look into. If the Xbox had BR, and no RROD the PS3 wouldn't even be considered. Theres a reason the PS3 got named "Failure of the year" when it came out, and to this day xbox's are outselling PS3's.

At the same time, I do like some PS3 things. They both had backwards compatibility, then Sony took it out for some reason. Sony has built in wireless (hella nice) BR, and has no such thing as RROD.
