Anyone know this person? The majority of us drive quite fast at times, but please at least use some common sense and take what simple precautions you can.

Man this is crazy, I guess his phone ended up after everything in the rear wheel some how!

Looks like the EvoM mods deleted the thread.

Ghey, they took the thread down. I had it open, so I'll copy/paste:

The car was destroyed!! The motor, tranny, front axle, and exhaust were all ripped from the car during the crash. The trans case was cracked and the tranny gears were also cracked in half. The Cam gears were snapped in half also. We found the drivers ipod in the rear driverside rim. Please Drive SAFE!! Wear your SEATBELTS!!

The cops on the scene said if he was wearing his seatbelt he would have lost his legs, but survived.

Wow, I always wear my seatbelt in the Evo thanks to the annoying dinger. That thing got me into wearing it everytime.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

that is fucking nuts. I dont go any were with out wearing the harness or the stock belt. The only time I dont wear it is in the tow truck at work on the ramp at the airport

That's nuts. I always where my seatbelt in my dsm, not so much my stratus driving around to work or the store.

I guess owning an evo doesn't make you invincible.

Why don't you wear your seatbelt ALL the time? Its such an easy way to protect yourself!

No car makes you invincible, if anything, the Evo makes it worse b/c it has so much power yet its crash ratings are so horrendous.

No doubt, I have no valid argument for not wearing it.

Did Mitsu just squeak the evo by on crash testing to get it into the states then?

Yup, thats why for 2007 we got a '06 IX SE model instead of a '07 IX like the rest of the world. The '06 IX wouldn't meet 2007 crash standards w/o side curtain airbags so they had to keep it labeled as a MY06.

Thats just too bad.

I feel naked without my seat belt on actually. That and the Owdee wont shutup even if passengers don't put theirs on.

A mod on evom posted this as to why it was removed

Again, like I said, noone needs to see that. Gerald was a good guy... just made a bad decision that cost him his life.

That thread served as a great reminder to people to be careful and always buckle-up. Those pictures were public photos and should have remained posted since they are not the property of the family or EvoM. Once again, the EvoM mods have stepped way past their bounds.

You'd get that on most forums though.

And yeah, I, too, feel naked without it on. It's kinda like that feeling when my cell phone and wallet aren't in my pocket. Just too weird to ignore.

Omg wow.... I dont even know what to say about that bad of a crash. I'm glad I wear my seat belts, I think I would take lost limbs versus lost life. But it sounds like a hell of a crash if his iPod made it to the back rim.

Darwin strikes again. I feel sorry for his family and friends for there loss.

As mentioned wear your seatbelts.

I'm proof that seat belts save lives. If anyone needs a refresher we can take a trip to my brother's grave and I'll show you the scar on my head.

I always wear my seat belt, sad it ended this way.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

Wow, I'm very sorry for his family and friends. I also always wear my seatbelt. About 10 years ago my half brother was in a car accident. He was clinically dead when the EMTs got to the scene, they revived him, then he "died" 2 more times by the time they got to the hospital. Luckily they were able to revive him. He came out of it with severe brain damage, a broken neck, several broken ribs, , broken collar bone, and one of his lungs collapsed twice. Neither him, or the driver of the car were wearing their seatbelts, and they both would have come out far better if they had been.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

I've been wearing mine ever since my buddies were hit head on by a drunk driver and messed them both up really bad. I should've been right in front of them and I probably would've been killed. Plus my best buddy from high school was killed in a head on collision, he wasn't wearing his seatbelt.

Project2G 03-25-2009 10:01 PM

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

damn... I always wear mine since I had a buddy killed since he wasn't wearing one.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

when i had the dsm i have to say i didnt always wear my seatbelt, mainly because i would just forget or something, but ever since i got the explorer i have to wear the seatbelt or else it makes a really annoying tone every minute.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

that really sucks! I try to wear my seat belt as much as possible but I'm not going to lie I do forget to put it on a little to often

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

Even moving cars around in a shop I have put on a seat belt, the only time I do not wear one is when I go ice fishing and am driving on the ice.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

I have put mine on since I was a little kid. And with how EASY things can get dangerous with a faster than normal car, it really seems like a no brainer to me.

As Swanny said, Darwin strikes again. I don't want to sound like a cold harted jackass, but when your own actions cause your end, there's not much to say. But who knows, maybe he would have bled to death, slowly and painfully, waiting for and ambulance, or another person, to show up.

P.S. Wow Matt.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

That's why laws are in place to wear your seatbelts, they're not there because cops wanna be dicks. They don't want to be scraping you off the pavement, because someone was too lazy to click it. I feel for the family, but peoples decisions effect future actions.
I personally wear my seatbelt all of the time, even if it's a quick trip or moving cars around. It only takes a second, and could save my life.

Kevin 1G Drummer 03-26-2009 08:26 AM

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

I don't get hoe someone can forget to put it on. I don't even think about it when I put mine on. it's just something I do. As others ave said, it feels weird to ride or drive without one, and the only time I don't wear one is when driving around on the ramp at the airport for work.

DoughtCom 03-27-2009 10:48 AM

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

I put mine on while just driving in a parking ramp, I'm super anal about it. Most people end up buckling up in my car when I'm driving after the first turn :)

Anyone remember the girls that were ejected from their car on the way back from the Duluth cruise a few years ago? Too many people don't wear them, I don't get it.

Yea that was pretty crazy. Andrew you were driving with me... you had that girl with, that we can never remember her name... lol

That was on 35W as we got around forest lake. We stopped on the side of the road and then cops told us to move. Remember?

Oh yea now I remember. Totally forgot about that.

That was a pretty bad accident. I'm very surprised they made it out alive.

Re: Wear your fucking seatbelt!

Yeah its a bummer when stuff like that happens. Its too bad that it could be prevented by something that takes less than 5 seconds to do.

Im not so much worried about myself as I am the other morons that are on the road. You never know when some drunk bastard is going to run into you. I have had to many close calls to even think about rolling without my seatbelt on. My 96 TSi was destroyed while it was parked in front of Porkys last summer by some kid showwing off for the crowd. Thank god I wasnt in it or I would still be picking glass out of my eyes. It just goes to show you dont even have to be rolling to get hit by some clown.

god speed man! i always wear my seatbelt even if it is a 2 min drive. Life is too short to take risks like that. It only takes a second to put on its not that hard to do. Its very easy to protect yourself!
