I like what you got going on here, what injectors do you plan on using and what fuel? If you have a problem with getting pictures on here most people use photbucket

looks good! can't wait to see some pics. with the bc cams you should get some adjustable cam gears and degree them in. at least it's recommended. I haven't with mine yet but I don't mind doing the work to do it

Re: The new setup for spring!

Sounds like a good setup, your FMIC will be pretty much maxed out with that turbo. Get it tuned and have some fun!

I'll try tomorrow again but it will take a little more time then I want to spend tonight on it...

I have the intercooler on and the piping will be going on just as soon as I can get the damn fuel filter off and the new oem one on..... :angryfire:

Im not going to run the adjustable cam gears now but maybe in the future.... I wasnt even planing on doing cams this year but if I'm doing the timing belt and arp's then I might as well shell out for cams....

Well this is just this winters setup, I'm planing on still doing the built 6 bolt this year still but it will have to be later in the year.... then some more upgrades and more boost! As of right now I'm going to shoot for 20psi with a good tune.

JET 03-08-2009 11:18 PM

Re: The new setup for spring!

You can get way over 350awhp with that turbo if you crank the boost up (I made 460awhp at DB). I made 360awhp at 23 psi with that turbo, but a little more mods.

Just get some cams, what's the point otherwise? I live in the area, I may even offer to help you put them in if ya want. They're pennies nowadays for some half decent ones.

Re: The new setup for spring!

Well its been a while since I've updated you guys..

I put in the fuel filter, have 2 tire's mounted on the rims and am going to mount the other 2 at work tomorrow...

Me and Kevin ( sleepydsm ) have been tearing my engine apart and doing the timing belt and cams/arp's. I also installed my oil drain and started on the intercooler piping!

Slowly moving along and hopefully I can have this thing to map for a tune in about a week!

Hopefully pics tonight on the progress

GsXtUrBo98 03-29-2009 01:38 AM

Re: The new setup for spring!

I mounted the other 2 tires today at work and me and kevin finished the timing belt, arp's, cams, ect... tonight

Ok so I got the car together last night and got it running!! I'll get up some pics really soon and maybe a video but I suck at installing just pictures so we'll see if I can handle it....

Re: The new setup for spring!

Are you getting it tuned at MAP this week if it turns out to be just a bad lifter?

GsXtUrBo98 04-08-2009 01:52 PM

Re: The new setup for spring!

yes!!!! woot woot!

Or i'd be doing a 6 bolt swap because I think that I have leaky valves or something because I'm smokin a little bit on idle but when I drive it goes away....

GsXtUrBo98 05-29-2009 10:16 PM

Re: The new setup for spring!

Ok!! So... I just got my car back from MAP on tuesday evening and I'm loving it!! I ended up going with a built 6 bolt swap and I upgraded my injectors so I can tune on e85! I'm in the middle of breakin at the moment with 220 miles on the motor...

Only thing is I ran into a snag with cooling.... the cooling I have isn't good enough and is going slightly over regular temp but NOT HOT because I will not let this happen.

So I ordered a new mishimoto radiator and the flex a lite fan shroud to keep things cool! will be in on tuesday and then I'm good to go for the rest of breakin!

O on a side note it only gets hot when I drive then site at idle for like 5 min or so but never when I'm driving.... not a big deal or anything but I'm not going to mess with anything and will spend whatever it takes to cool my new engine to its likings... lol

GsXtUrBo98 06-04-2009 04:10 PM

Re: The new setup for spring!

Just got the FAL fans yesterday along with the mishimoto radiator! and today I ordered a MAP custom o2 housing with waste gate recirculated back into the down pipe!

only down side is its gonna take 2 to 3 weeks!!!

Halon 06-04-2009 04:57 PM

Re: The new setup for spring!

If you're only hot while at idle, then that definately sounds like a fan issue. Hopefully the new radiator and fan combo helps out. We need pics!!

Re: The new setup for spring!

LOL I will try and get some pics up this weekend as I have my little sisters graduation on friday and I work 11 to close on sat.

GsXtUrBo98 07-04-2009 10:19 AM

Re: The new setup for spring!

Ok I know its been a while and still no pics " I SUCK " But I got the 02 housing from MAP last friday after having to wait for a couple weeks "3" when I was told 4 to 5 business days but o well. I installed the 02 housing on the same friday and found out that my fal fan shroud will not fit even with the MAP 02 housing!!! I'm going to put my mishimoto radiator in on monday and hope that the radiator will fix the problem with the over heating and still use the 2 10" fans, then on wed YES 2 DAYS BEFORE BIR I'm going to get it tuned at MAP! I have around 1,400 miles on the motor now and am good to go!

I need to have primo weld a 02 bung on my exhaust so I can hook up my wideband and then just the radiator, and get some E85 to tune with.

sleepydsm 07-04-2009 12:48 PM

Re: The new setup for spring!

You shouldn't have wasted that money on a FAL fan setup. Should have just gotten some proven cheap slim fans. The biggest ones you can get, and maybe 2. And also, you know my opinion on the other thing. You should listen to our advice for once! lol.
