My new setup for spring.

So Im just about done with my swap that I got a couple weeks ago. Here is what Im gonnna be running for the summer.

Engine
2.3L
Eagle crank
Manley rods
Wiseco pstons
ACL Race bearings
ARP 11mm head studs
ARP Main studs
Kelford 280 cams
supertech valve springs
supertech valves 1mm oversize, inconel exhaust valves
cometic headgasket
Precison 1000cc injectors
AEM EMS with air intake sensor and 3.5 bar map sensor
GT4088R turbo
Custom top mount divided T4 manifold
RNR fmic core
Custom lower intercooler pipe
Buschur upper intercooler pipe
Tial 44mm vband wastegate
Tial BOV
JMF spark plug cover

I got the setup from Ron at RS motors and I will be trying it out for alittle bit and then maybe switching it up a little bit. The only thing left I need to complete my car is getting a new oil cooler since I cannot use my old one after I spun a rod bearing. I only have a few pics that I took with my cell phone. I will be taking some better pics in the next few days. Plans till spring will be running 92oct till I get it tuned on e85 with the full blown dual pumper.

<---- Jealous!

Looks like a very nice setup, good luck with the tune and can't wait to see what kind of power she puts down.

Thanks man, Im hoping for around 600 on e85 in the spring and aound 500 on pump. Ron had this setup in his car and made 527 at 24psi on pump with the magnus cast v5 manifold an I just have my unported stock manifold. I will keep the updates coming.

Everything is already done, I just need to bolt up a new oil cooler and put it on the dyno. Paul and I spent all day thursday and friday swapping everthing over. The only thing I didnt get was the magnus v5 cast manifold.

Ya I want to take it to the track, the only thing that might cause me trouble is my act hdss clutch, I dont know how much that will handle. I hope I can afford a exedy twin disc soon and also a shep tranny/t-case.

I thought he had a 4094?

Hmm...... I guess fast evos won't be rare anymore around here. Seems like everyone has realized the key to making lotsa power is to go big! :) I like it.

What you got for a clutch, trans, transfer case?

I have a act hdss clutch, stock flywheel, stock tranny, stock t case. Those are next to be upgraded. I want a twin disc, and hav my tcase and tranny shipped out to shep.

^oh.

This is gonna get good.

Cher, you're crazy. Big turbo's aren't always needed. Well maybe they just aren't really used.

Good luck Mike unplug that bitch and let her buck come spring time.

Well we will see what a fullblown dual pump setup and some 1600's can do come springtime if I get a new ignition system.

And then you launch on the street and blow up your drivetrain :) That's the only way I'll beat you!

I wont launch my car till I know I have the funds to send the tcase and trans in to shep. I will just wait and see how big my tax refund is

Well an evo is still a must have in my book for someday but I am way too hooked on my car to start putting my money into another car right now....

As soon as I get the money wich should be anytime now I'm going to be putting that engine in and pulling the 7 bolt!! But when I do it Im going to do it right the first time and get the lower end built atleast. At the same time I'm planning on going to a bigger turbo then after that all I will have to worry about is the same as you "TRANNY, TRANSFERCASE"

Ya I really hope I can at least make a couple passes at the track in the spring. I know this setup in the fall with ron driving ran a 11.4@124 with a 2.1 60 foot. That pass, the throwout bearing came apart. This was on pump gas too, I want to run my full blown dual pumper with e-85, but that still all depends on my driving and if my tranny and tcase can hold the power.

Ron at RS is going to be tuning it. He already made 527 on this setup on pump at 28psi with the magnus cast intake manifold. Im gonna run the stock intake manifold for now. But in the spring im gonna be running e85 with the dual pumper. So I guess I will see what the stock ignition can do and then upgrade once thats maxed.

C3L1CA 01-14-2009 04:37 PM

Re: My new setup for spring.

That thing should move!

Ever think about getting your full blown setup anodized? I wouldn't be too worried but if you plan on running e85 for a while it'd be something to think about.

I will try and get some video of the car on the dyno next week, as for now I have the car at home and I took a few pics of it today with a real camera. Here they are.

Re: My new setup for spring.

Nice. And you know you can use the oil cooler, you just need to flush it out really well.

Halon 01-15-2009 08:24 PM

Re: My new setup for spring.

I was curious as to why it couldn't be reused also...

Setup looks great though!@!!

FattyBoomBatty 01-15-2009 09:40 PM

Re: My new setup for spring.

I also am inclined to believe that the oil cooler lines are fed after the filter, but I could definately be wrong on that. Can someone help out here?

MustGoFaster 01-15-2009 09:47 PM

Re: My new setup for spring.

Oil cooler is after the filter, but the filter has a bypass on it for when the oil is thick, like cold starts, or when the filter gets clogged.

I would not re-use the cooler. Have you ever cleaned an oil pan with bearing material in it? Even when you can touch it, it can be though to get everything out. If you think you going to get everything out by "flushing it out real good" dream on. Once 10 GPM of oil is pumping through that thing, any little spec you didn't get will work it's way out and into your motor.

FattyBoomBatty 01-15-2009 10:07 PM

Re: My new setup for spring.

then I'd better clean my own cooler really really good.

That thing looks pretty wicked!

Re: My new setup for spring.

I didnt reuse my cooler, I got a new one. My car is running off wastegate pressure and still rips pretty hard, I will be going back to rs when its not so cold out to get some numbers.
