This is just a thought I had. I think that it would be cool if we had a DSM/Import
swap meet and cook out. I'm sure that many of us have a lot of stuff we don't need that other people might. And a swap meet would be a good way to buy, sell and trade things. I have always had more success selling thing at the snowmobile swap meets i've gone to so I think it would be a good way for many of us to get rid of stuff that we aren't willing to throw away but don't need.

It could also just be another time to hang out, bullshit, and checkout cars.

Different shops and Venders could have a stand and represent themselves.

Just wondering if people would be interested in this type of thing? Maybe someone has some good ideas for this type of event also.

Kracka 03-16-2004 02:37 PM

Sounds somewhat similar to the annual Mitsu Cookout, but I'd deffinately be up for something like this early in the summer. May/June?

Maybe it is the same. I don't know. I'm fairly new to all of this I havn't been to many events.

A//// Guy 03-16-2004 02:46 PM

Wrong quote haha. Yea a meet would be cool. One a year isnt enough I think...

Kracka 03-16-2004 02:51 PM

I think QPR should sponsor it and give away about $10,000 worth of stuff....that'll get your name out!

AJ 03-16-2004 02:59 PM

10k of altezza's and leds.

Ilike the idea though.

I'll be there for sure

MATCHBX 03-16-2004 07:48 PM

I brought this up to Honda guys a couple of years ago and they liked it as well. It's good to do it early in the season (at least when it's warm out) so people can get rid of old stuff taking up space and buy the stuff they need for the season. I'm all for it. It's a shame we couldn't rent a small place, like a small armory or something, so we had space to spread everything out.

Or if someone had a large garage or something. If we had the house that we've been looking at, we could have it there. But I doubt that will happen.

BUCKY 03-16-2004 09:51 PM

I talked to alan and it sounds like we'll try to get something set up for early this season.

I say all we need is a nice day and a field. Everyone shows up, sets up shop and we git er dun.

NoNameSteaks 03-16-2004 10:12 PM

if u will let a wannabe DSMer go to it then I am game, but I have nothing to sell but I will chill with people especially if there is free vodka, but I doubt that. I am only 19...*I HAVE NEVER DRANK *looks around, yeah*

JustROLLIN 03-16-2004 10:39 PM

Actually, this sounds like a really good idea to me. Sell some parts, eat some food, meet some people, and of course drink some beers. I would be in.

BUCKY 03-16-2004 10:40 PM

You know were gonna drink lots of beer.

JustROLLIN 03-16-2004 10:46 PM

Good cause other than the parts and beer the rest was BS. (Food and friends, who needs em!) LOL.

MATCHBX 03-16-2004 10:51 PM

If it's in a field, it better be someones private field and not a park. They frown upon drinking in public parks. If someone has a field or a large driveway area or something else that they would let us use, then it would be perfect.

BUCKY 03-16-2004 11:01 PM

This week im going to talk to some people and see what I can find.

Im going to talk to my work and also the people at medina ballroom.
In the summer they have a swap meet type thing already. Maybe on the same day as one of theres we can use the top parking lot. This way we would have even moor people checking stuff out and we could shop the other areas if we wanted.

Please let me know how you feel about the Medina Idea.

Is Homosexual Organized Romping Team going to be there? Josh is curious

Owatonna has a small armory if everyone wants to drive an hour south of the cities.

NoNameSteaks 03-17-2004 02:49 AM

here is the thing some of us are underage for drinking, will there be a way for us to get anything to drink, *hint hint* I will want to call a cab that day, if I go.

Kracka 03-17-2004 02:51 AM

I'll bring you a juicebox...cherry or punch?

niterydr 03-17-2004 02:54 AM

A//// Guy 03-17-2004 11:57 AM

YAAAY Koolaid is my favorite!

audiousECLIPSE 03-19-2004 05:07 PM

Although I probably won't have any cash to buy anything, or a car to drive up there... or be able to drive my car up there, I'd be up for it. :jammin:

audiousECLIPSE 03-22-2004 11:09 PM

Anymore news on this?

BUCKY 03-22-2004 11:28 PM

[/QUOTE]Anymore news on this?[QUOTE

I don't know if Alan or anyone else has looked into it or not but I still plan on checking at a couple of places as soon as my car is put back together. Hopefully on wed. I will then post possible dates for it and see what kind or interest we get.

AJ 03-23-2004 01:01 AM

Just need a location. I'd love for it to be a non race day and place that has good parking, solid ground and would be something Elite, SLS, and QPR could enjoy setting up a stand as well. Not some old pasture.

Sean,
Thank you for your interest in Medina Entertainment.  Jill Schmidt our
catering director is on vacation and will be back in the office on 3-29-04.  I
will relay this message to her and have her email you with a meeting time.  A
few things she will need to know is, Do you have a date in mind?  What time
would this be from?  How many people generally attend?  How much of the parking
lot would you need? (We have 5 acres of parking)  If you could please respond to
me with these answers then I can give Jill more information so she can give you
a price. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Missy Yanish
Catering Assistant

Yesterday i emailed Medina Ball room about using there locacion and this is the email that I got back. It looks like it might cost a little bit. I plan on responding to this in the next two days. Please give any ideas on a Date, how many people we think will go, amount of space we will need, and so on so that I can give them a close estimate.

BUCKY 03-25-2004 05:42 PM

Is anyone going to reply or should i just guess.

Jana 03-25-2004 05:45 PM

I think it should be fairly cheap or free. I wouldn't want to pay much, but that's just me. I'm cheap these days. :D

I agree, but I have no idea how mutch it will be until I give an estimate on how many people will be the and how mutch space we need. It could be Like $100 to use there lot witch we could pay for selling hotdogs and pop. i just want an estimate so i know if its $100 or a$1000. This way I can decide if i need to loke somewhere else.

Black97civic 03-25-2004 06:59 PM

I'll be there if I am not working that day, and if the admission is less than $10.

Sean,
Thank you for your additional information, we have an upper lot (approx. 3
acres) that we could rent to you for the swap meet on April 17th or 18th.
$200.00 from 12:00 TO 5:00 PM. If this is what you would be interested in,
please advise. I will need an address, fax number to send you a contract and the
payment of $200.00 with the signed contract will confirm the event.
Jill Schmidt
Catering Director

Ok this is what I got back from Medina. Please tell me if one of these dates would work, and if people would be willing to pay $2 to $5 to go. Also please post if you would plan on going so I can get an estimate on how many people would go.

BUCKY 03-31-2004 08:50 PM

Ok maybe nobody is interested in this.

Jana 03-31-2004 08:53 PM

Hmmm, I'm not sure if we'd get enough people to go to even cover $200. Let's keep thinking of other places we could maybe do this for free.

NoNameSteaks 04-01-2004 01:42 AM

I would go and would pay $10 fee to get in. That seems like a good idea but yeah if there is place that can be for free that would be best

I have a big drive way but my father wouldn't let many ppl to be there it ain't that big even with the 3 garages open and the drive way clear the ppl would have to park in the road and Minnetonka hates that. and the ppl who live in the neighborhood hates it too

DSMGirl 04-02-2004 03:45 AM

If you have it on a weekend after May 20th, I'll definatly go. I'm looking for any excuse to see AJ and Jana and everyone else again.

Kracka 04-02-2004 03:50 AM

It would be cool seeing you again....its been since August down in Rochester I do believe.
