Re: project mini
The aftermarket stuff rides like ass on a mini. I'd keep it stock for a while at least.
|
Re: project mini
also craig cant really lower the car sense it is low all ready and has 18's on it now. also spring for the mini s lowers it no more than 1/2in anyway
|
Re: project mini
got the intake and the ipod adapter today and put them in. hid the Ipod better this time so it will be harder to find and steal. the intake is really nice looking and was really easy to install. pics put on first post

Re: project mini
got the header cat back all here so that is all going in tonight with the short shifter. I have to go to the church for a wedding meeting so mark and my dad are going to do it for me.
|
Re: project mini
well my dad (ken) and I put the header, cat back, short shifter on the car. All I have to say it was the longest 6hour install ever. For the short shifter the cat back has to be taken out and the heat sheilds. for the header you have to take out all the upper heat sheilds to even see the dumb thing. then you have to take all the lowers ones out also. Then you have to drop the header down and turn it 90 to get it out around the sub frame.
I did take a lot of pics OBX header http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04142.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04140.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04141.jpg OBX cat back http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04137.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04139.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04138.jpg |
Re: project mini
the oem cat cat back set up. the new stuff is about 40lbs less
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04143.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04144.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04145.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04146.jpg |
Re: project mini
the oem 1300.00 header. that was cut apart to reuse the cat. Had to do it mini guys said the car will not even run with a test pipe in it.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04147.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04151.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04148.jpg |
Re: project mini
the cat with the obx pipe welded to it. so it will bolt to the obx header
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04153.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04154.jpg also put in the wideband bung right be for the cat http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04161.jpg the header bolted back in before the 2 upper heat sheilds went back in http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04159.jpg also had to reuse part of the mid pipe from the oem cat back used 47in's of it. the only cat backs for the mini are well over 1k. and the pipe that is on there is 2.5 to start whit and is manderal bent http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04160.jpg |
Re: project mini
now on to the short shifter. it was also a pain in the ass to get out of the car and then to get the shifter out of the base and then new on in.
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04152.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04155.jpg it out of the car http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04156.jpg http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04157.jpg oem vs. ebay http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o...e/DSC04158.jpg |
Re: project mini
LOLerskates at the oem exhaust routing! And wtf is that bulge on the stock downpipe, in front of the cat but after the flex section?!?!
I can't believe you didn't just put a test pipe in and see what happened :) LAME guys, LAME! ;) WTF on the short shifter too, how do you even get the stock one out? I see no removable retainer cup?? |
Re: project mini
it was a pain in the ass to get out. there is a plastic cup that come out then it is all about twisting and pulling.
One the test pipe mini guy have done it and the car will not run at all. They have even reflashed the ecu and would run in only limp mode. Just put it in like all the other guy that have done it the same way and the obx header back is a proven 15whp on the dyno. |
Re: project mini
have some pulls scheduled for wed morn. now all i have to do is get the new pulley, some sway bars maybe a x brace and some tuning software.
might have to upgrade to some 380 or dare i say 400cc injectors to deal with the extra power |
Re: project mini
no the 400cc are so huge ;)
