Spectator drag season (Elko & Raceway)
 

Anyone going to be doing any circle track this year? Season opener for spectators is 4/12/08 for Elko & 4/27/08 for Raceway.

We should get a shitload of style members to make a showing. I know most will be gone on the 12th but I will be there running on the 27th @ raceway park.

Get your asses out there and show those domestics what you can do!

Actually the asshat primer black 79 Camaro that would ram you if he was loosing isn't allowed to run at either track anymore.

Last 2 years the champion was a modded 1Gb Laser AWD

If the guy is running you to close for comfort just back off the throttle & let them pass.

I've run out there off and on for the past 5 years and never been hit. Most guys will run you clean.

Hope you make it out.

The secret to winning at raceway is a good launch. If you can pull a couple of car lengths from the start and hold them through turn two your opponent will most likely panic and drive it way to hard into 3 and 4 to try and catch you.

Works damn near every time

Meh, They have to catch me first ;)

Everybody but Sellner will run you clean. All the cars there were in good shape & DD's. They are alot more picky on who and what they let run nowadays.

After 5+ years of running there I'm not to worried about it. Then again I don't drive a 30K dollar car

Going again this Saturday, this time @ Elko. Should be a couple of TCS people out also.

Hopefully I'll be able to bring home 1st place at Elko then it's back to Raceway on Monday where I know I can spank the competetion.

Hopefully my camera man will make it out this time.

Elko is straight down 35W south, Raceway is in Shakopee across 101 from ValleyFair.

Howd Saturday turn out? I was thinking about going, but couldn't justify paying $30 to get into the pits. Hopefully the car count was good and you spanked a couple guys.

Well this just sucks, I can't get my fricken' video camera to upload the video to my PC .

I installed the correct Sony USB drivers but can't figure out for the life of me how to upload it onto my hardrive.

That was awesome!!! I had some guy behind that was talking about the galant saying that it wouldn't do worth a crap. I told him if it's AWD and turbo, and the guy know how to launch, there won't be anything to catch it. And I was right!! Only one race lost. To great competition I might add. That camaro is fast as hell. Straight line it would be a toss up, but launching and corners belonged to the vr-4. Nobody there would believe me that the galant would do so well. They were shut up in a hurry on the first race!!! Good job out there!!

BTW, that little Civic hatch was doin pretty good too. The way he was blowing smoke, I gotta believe he's turbo'd and running way rich.

Yeah, overcorrection FTL. My girl got a better camera angle of it (looked like his rear wheel was going to snap off when he went sideways). The crowd's reaction was priceless.

I'm on my way to a friends house to edit my footage so it should be up soon.

ive retired my wanna be spectator mobiles and roll in da 4 door cutlass now but im rootin for ya buddy
they should have an mitsustyle hostile takeover of those drag races looks allot funner than going to lacrosse anyway.

some day my brother gunna have his conquest done so that should be the first place hes going to race it early predictions say 400hp

not sure of elko's site. i dislike the owner and they are quite expensive.

they both have schedules of their events. spectator drags will most likely be on a "eve of destruction" night.

Heading out to Raceway Park on Labor day. It's the year end championship race with the winners from all the other events. The Galant has some clutch issues but if I keep the boost down and don't launch to hard it will hopefully hold up.

I should be getting some video footage.

Took 2nd in the Championship round to a fast ass 79 Firebird with my clutch slipping the whole way (bouncing of the rev limiter)
It was close (went all 3 rounds) and in the end came down to who had inside lane.

Next year I should have an extra 100whp

So who has the Laser? Pretty sad the stock Laser beating up on a modded LS1. Did the Galant get any body damage? I have video of the drags tonight but I'm tired. I'll post tomorrow.

Left rear 1/4 panel has a big ol' dent in her. Nothing that wont pound out with a hammer.
Sucks, But it was bound to happen eventually. That's the 1st contact I've had running specdrags going back to 2001.

Watching the video you can see he came into turn three way to hot. Started pushing, then had the genius idea to hit the brakes mid turn.

I heard he hit the Firebird in the finals too. That boy needs to learn how to handle his car. It's pretty sad when you cant control a stock DSM.

He's lucky he lasted untill the end. It gave me time to cool off. I'm not the same person I was 5-10 years ago. If I was he'd be missing some teeth right now

Yeah I could tell you were pretty hot. Those races, even though it rained were alot of fun.

Whats done to your car? It was way to laggy to be stock.
