Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
Dave said he would be extremely mad at me if I didn't make a novice school. Bummer the April is full, I will have to sign up for June.
Maybe the sentra will like auto-x if I can't get the new project going by then :) |
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
Dave who, anyone I know?
The April school filled up in less than 2 days, I plan on going since I only have 4 events under my belt. Aside from a test and tune day it is the most seat time you will get for your money, plus there are instructors there for nothing else but to help you drive better. |
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
I think I will do the June school.

I just signed up for the June school. I decided I'm going to try autocrossing this year at least a few times. Should be fun!

Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
For people wanting to sign up for the novice school and all the MAC events they can be found here:
http://www.myautoevents.com/pls/mae/...text=minnesota Keep in mind that MAC runs events in conjunction with other groups so they aren't listed there, but a link to signups is usually listed on the forum at www.mnautox.com and they're always through myautoevents.com. |
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
Found this video of 8-time national champion Mark Daddio in his Evo from last year's Pro Solo event in DC:
http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fusea...deoid=11481547 If you think that's still slow, imagine yourself in the car, it's fast. The course is a little short, but that is a fast course. I don't know his exact setup but I remember FP green, AEM and everything else you can imagine. At one point he was running 18x10s up front and 17x8.5s in the rear to help the car turn. |
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
Looks like I maybe at the novice school this weekend, there is a guy that wants to trade.
|
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
I'll be at the novice school in June.
|
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
I ended up in the April novice school by trading with a guy. I had a great time and learned quite a bit. Anybody that hasn't tried AutoX should, it's a great challenge and you learn a lot. And you don't have to go to a novice school to start.

Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
Updated the schedule.
The Porsche Club of America/Corvettes of Minnesota autocross still has spots left. These events are known to have faster courses than what is normally ran by MAC. Hope to you all there! |
Re: 2008 MAC Event Schedule and autocross information
MOWOG 3 registration open.

Re: 2008 Autocross Schedule and Information

Re: 2008 Autocross Schedule and Information
Damn I really want to do this, anything open in June, July, or August? As far as driving school and auto x are concerned. Would prefer to do this with a healed leg ;)

Another Evo and an STI with coilovers were just ahead of me, then a 350Z with coilovers and R-compounds, then two M3s (one on Azenis, the other on Rs) were nearly neck and neck for the lead with the M3 with Rs coming out a few tenths ahead. I'm doing pretty good for having an under-prepared car, though a guy with a stock Evo 8 RS put down times that rivaled the fastest cars, but he isn't human. Working on getting some coilovers, then need a set of wheels to put R-compounds on, then it's just little stuff like suspension bushings and a little more power. The car needs some work, though. I'm getting alignment done this Thursday which I'm told will greatly improve how the car behaves in the corners. One thing that bothers me is I was the only Evo (stock suspension or otherwise) that was lifting the inside rear wheel at all. I don't know if it's my driving or if I have blown front struts, but it really bothers me. The car just felt like the front outside corner was digging in really hard. I had to put more air in the front tires than I wanted, even more than the other Evo guys were, because I was beginning to roll the tires halfway to the wheel. |

The Eau Claire events are a good time. It's nice to be running somewhere not-so-local yet isn't very far away.

Re: 2008 Autocross Schedule and Information
I was on TV! - http://www.wqow.com/Video/6-8%20autocross.wmv
23 seconds in. No, you don't see me mowing cones. :) Ryan was there tearing it up in his Stealth, as were 3 other Evos. |
Re: 2008 Autocross Schedule and Information
I was on TV too, just in the background out on the course.

Re: 2008 Autocross Schedule and Information
Another video clip of the event. I think he's on here, his name is Brandon.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/9583961@N06/2563986683/ He posted the fastest time of the day (FTD) later in the afternoon when it dried out. Good job, Brandon! |
