SUPAs Progress
Here is the current progress of my car so far, note that when i bought this car, it was bone stock... all the way! not even a different CD head unit... i have done alot of work, and am very proud of what i have done.
dont forget, i am boosting this spring some time... and please no flaming because i chose to do this with a 420A 1996 mitsubishi eclipse (base model) FLAT BLACK YO! JE pistons 10:1 je rings eagle rods arp main studs arp head studs head work 5angle valve job crane valve springs crane lifters crane rocker rollers crane 0018 cams aem tru time adj cam gears fel pro copper sprayed head gasket walbro 255 fuel pump 490cc injectors 10mm plug wires bosch platnum fusion iridum plugs venom vcn 1000 nitrious system unorthodox pullys unorthodox flywheel clutchmasters 3 puck clutch B&M short throw shifter Short ram air intake Ebay header full 3" exhaust HKS muffler aem I/FC street tuned by SLS Tien coil overs all strut bars upper front, and rear lower and upper fully gutted interior no bumpers, just bumper covers 2gb front end conv 17" Enkei CDR-9s MSD ignition OBX Helical LSD SOON TO BE BOOSTED.... Re: SUPAs Progress
That sounds like a ton of work.
Have you ever thought about using E85? |
Re: SUPAs Progress
What turbo are you actually using? Please don't just call it a "T3 Garret Airesearch Turbocharger" ever again, that is the longest vague description I have ever heard. The rest of the car sounds fairly well put-together, post pics man!

Re: SUPAs Progress
I dont understand. You said in another post that you only had a few hundred $ to spend on a "cheap" car but then you post up this thread?
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
Why did you build up that engine in the first place, if you were just gonna swap in a different block anyways?
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
So are Bosch platinum fusion iridum plugs made or platinum or iridium or both? Nitrous and platinum plugs don't mix.
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
1.) no e85, dont want to use it.... not my thing i guess.
2.) im not sure exacticly what kind of turbo it is, i think its like a 46 trim? i bought it from mike (totaleclipse) 3.) this is the reason i only have a few hundred to spend, cause i spent most of it on this thing, but yet it does not currently run... lol. and i did not dump all this money in overnight, it was done over a long process of time. 4.) when i built up this block, i was planning on staying with this block, and staying n/a with n2o, but later on (now) i decided its not enough, so i want to boost big time, instead of running like 15psi on the bottom end i have now, i would like to build up a bigger motor, and run alot more that 15psi... 5.) thats just what they are called, platnum iridums.. it didnt make sence to me either... but it seems to be doing fine with them in it.... oh btw, i did used to run platnums and n2o and had no problems... i have been running nitrous for quite some time now... As far as pictures go, i do not have any real current ones of the motor, but i can post what i have, they are really crappy cell phone pics tho... |

Re: SUPAs Progress
I would tune on e-85 you will love it
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
You got your hands full. Good luck with the new addition in your life. Also, good luck on the build.
I sent you that list to turn a 420a into a 420a-T. |
Re: SUPAs Progress
Yeah, E85 is the shit if you are going FI.

Re: SUPAs Progress
um, you need to get rid of all that red, its too much for me, but its not my car.
ANYWHO, i had the same tach in my hyundai excel years ago, i just found it the other day. Good luck, also if you are doing boost you will love E85 i guarantee. Another point, you could still boost your current motor it will just be a little harder to tune because of the higher static compression. |
Re: SUPAs Progress
Need better pics of the flat black job STAT
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
i know i could still boost as is, but then i could only run 15ish psi... boring....

Re: SUPAs Progress
i dont want to run e85...
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
why not need a good reason
it is cheaper it is 100octan it burns cooler it lets you run more boost ect |
Re: SUPAs Progress
It's hard to find.
It's inconsistant. It requires a much larger fuel system. You can't drive across country with a car that only runs on E85. |
Re: SUPAs Progress
ecoli answered it for me...
|
Re: SUPAs Progress
Alky Injection! I plan on doing that to my car sometime this summer/fall.

Update:
Ok, so two weeks ago, I was out racing around in my eclipse, then the next day I was comming home from school, I smoked two rings, cracked a piston, and blew my head gasket, time to get the 2.4 done so I can get that block in. Turbo install IS COMPLETE! Yay Lately I have picked up a few more parts... Perma-Cool fuel filter/water separator, dual inlet/outlet, for custom fuel setup, new - $40 shipped Autometer mechanical fuel pressure gauge & steel fuel line, new condition - $45 shipped T3 flange upper downpipe - $20 shipped Earls oil filter sandwich adapter, new - $38 shipped Eagle 2.4 Connecting Rods (new) - $200 shipped JE 2.4 8.8:1 pistons (all 4 new) - $153 shipped So things are starting to go togeather for me... I will hopefully get this thing done by spring... |
Re: SUPAs Progress
Also, to whom it may concern:
Yes I do have a savings account set aside for the baby already... My Girl is already 20 weeks along... so I have quite an account going already. $200 a week into the savings account. And hopefully the next few months I will be able to do $300 weekly.... Its ok guys... I atleast know my prioritys , Goes something like this... 1.) Girl 2.) Baby 3.) other baby (DSM) 4.) myself... But seriously, im on a very strict budget... I have all my paychecks split up, and I would like to do some little mods to the Daytona Shelby... I also need to get rid of a 7bolt 4G63 motor (head and all), and my 6 bolt block, I would also like to get rid of my 97 GST parts car as well, the whole thing... I do understand where some of you guys are comming from though... and thank you... yall are like family... in a very odd sort of way! |
