Towing a DSM with a DSM
I need to Tow Project2gs car to my house, no highways or anything just gonna take it easy down the side streets.
Where is the best spot to hook the tow strap to my car? |
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
There isn't really a good spot on the back. Bottom of the bumper is going to be the only thing I can really think of.

Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Good luck with the boost, dont toast the turbo. DSM's have a unibody frame, which cant take much stress from towing. My best opinion, use someone's v-6/v-8 truck. Not sure how far your towing the car, but it's better to not have to burn the clutch alot, the brakes, and rotors after the tow. I have a truck i could do it for you.

Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Bullshit you are native to the US. Noone says "traveling the car".
And are you in California? |
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM

No, I just hate having to get out my decoder ring to try and decipher your posts. It gives me a headache. I could care less what nationality you are as long as you can post a decent sentence. I am not talking perfection or anything, just something legible.

Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Well then, back to Towing a DSM w/ a DSM.

You could try for somthing on the rear subframe.

Yes, you can easily tow another DSM. The weak point would be your clutch and everybody has upgraded that, so no worries. I've towed dozens of cars with everything under the sun, you don't need a truck to pull a 3000lb car. Hell, I push them back and forth up and down a small hill at my shop and I'm not exactly a big guy. |
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
I have done it before. I have towed around my spyder with my talon.
|
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Thank you very much.
yes i have an upgraded clutch (southbend DXD 6puck.) |
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
This should be an experience! I will take a pic. Knowing the cops around here I might get pulled over for tailgating!
FYI: The distance we need to go is 17 miles. |
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Wow, 17 miles? That is quite a ways. Are there many stop lights? Starting out is when it will be hard on things.
|
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Theres a bunch of stop lights but as long has hes not a dick fore and slam on the brakes we should be fine.

Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Good luck with the tow. I have towed my fair share of cars with my dsm, and vice versa.
Its not a bad idea, but if I were you I would ask for help first, it may be safer to tow with a truck. |
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
Wow, you guys are going to make a video of towing a car. Wow, post that up, I can't wait.
|
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
good god, why dont you make a freakin "how to: tow a dsm" thread, it will deff. come in handy for a majority of us... lol
|
Re: Towing a DSM with a DSM
The tow went great. No problems what-so-ever. I hooked the tow straps to his car via looping it around the crossmember, then on my end hooked it up to the frame where there are two holes, one above the muffler, and one on the other side.
Pulled like a champ, didnt take video. sorry. lol i really would have loved for a honda to rev up on me, i would have raced him for sure. It would have been like those old hemi commercials. LOL |
