Tax time!

*This WILL NOT turn into a tax-return debate thread, we've gone over that enough times already so if you care just search for it*

If you're getting a return what will you be doing with it? Savings? Paying off debt? Car parts?

Re: Tax time!

I'm torn between upgrading my computer or buying car parts...

For computer stuff:
24" LCD
New processor - Intel Core2 Duo something
SLI motheboard with new DDR2 RAM
Add another 8600GT video card

Car stuff:
More tires
Used Evo wheels for R-compounds
Rear swaybar
Get some touchup paint work done
O2 housing

Down payment on a new garage.

Re: Tax time!

Either tools for the shop or turbo for the car. I really have no idea if I will get much back this year, since I only worked 1/2 of last year.

Kracka 01-15-2008 02:29 PM

Re: Tax time!

I think I will split mine between savings/investments and Evo parts. I need some summer tires and I'm going to do the ported intake manifold and throttle body. I'd also like a nice set of cams and a larger FMIC, but I'll probably wait on those.

Re: Tax time!

Considering I won't have spent my xmas $$ yet that was all for the evo, I'm filing asap and taking a shotgun to my last credit card, ever ever ever. If I do get anything for the evo, it'll be some minor cosmetic updates, but more than likely that will wait until further into spring.

For now my tax return will pay for the 95 gsx I just bought.

Re: Tax time!

Good question... depends on where i'm at... if I have my current list of wants for my car completed, I will probably end up saving it all if at all possible.

Otherwise i'll finish up the list and save whatever is left. :)

Re: Tax time!

Well, so far I have bought a set of Recaro's, a new 6 bolt for my GSX. Planning on picking up a new turbo, dsmlink and some other misc crap to actually make it run good and proper for once. Yay for taxes.

Re: Tax time!

DSMlink for the Eclipse, and maybe cams... Depending on how much I get back. Or if I don't win the auction for an exhaust system for my bike, maybe I'll get that system new, instead of the cams.

That made me :)

My plans are to throw some into savings, throw some towards my mortgage, and we'll see how much is left, but hopefully pay for a tranny rebuild.

Travel, probably. Where to I have no idea.

Re: Tax time!

I just recently got my two credit cards paid off, so my only debts are student loans, my motorcycle, and a miniscule ammount for tools! So for once I can spend my tax check on fun things :)

Re: Tax time!

I was just thinking about this the other day.

Probably new lifters for the M, throw some into savings, or a new computer/server setup. Possible down payment on a new vehicle.

I don't know if I'm getting anything back. If I do, probably just pay bills.

Re: Tax time!

Yeah I claimed a few more deductions this year so if things go according to plan I'll owe a couple hundred bucks or maybe get a return of a couple hundred.

Re: Tax time!

Not sure what I will get back, plan on: plane tickets to Flordia for July, new golf clubs, pay off bills, maybe a new monitor for my computer as well.

Re: Tax time!

So did anyone actually stick to their plan and spend it like they planned to? God knows I sure didn't.

scheides 03-04-2008 12:37 PM

Re: Tax time!

I did. I paid off my last credit card ever, invested about $4k, and the rest I'm saving for my next adventure to Vegas this summer :)

goku28 03-04-2008 05:06 PM

Re: Tax time!

Credit card and maybe fuel mods.

asshanson 03-04-2008 05:14 PM

Re: Tax time!

I didn't stick to my plan at all. Instead of paying for the gsx I just bought way too much for the Talon after running into major problems with my turbo install.

I'll get some of the money back by selling my old intercooler setup, afc, and other parts that I replaced, but it still cost way more than I anticipated.

It always does when it comes to modding cars.

asshanson 03-04-2008 05:59 PM

Re: Tax time!

Yes, I have much to learn still about the true costs. I hadn't touched my car for almost 3 years, then started upgrading last summer. I don't even want to know how much it's totaled since then.

Kracka 03-04-2008 06:01 PM

Re: Tax time!

You don't want to know, even adding half of it would probably be painful! :)

I had already spent all of my tax return money before I even got it back from the gov! ha

Re: Tax time!

I prettymch stuck to my plan. Although I did buy an LCD tv before I bought dsmlink. my original plan was to buy link first. Oh well :) I have both now, and I'm happy

Fail

A//// Guy 03-05-2008 10:02 AM

Re: Tax time!

24 Hydraulic Lifters
Timing chain tensioner
Timing chain sprocket
Flywheel lock tool
Cam lock tool
Valve Cover Gasket Set
Accessory belt pulley
Redline ATF
Fan Delete kit

750 dollars later.... ugh. So yea I spent it on stuff I thought I would. The rest of the refund goes towards something cool atleast.
