Flat Black 2g

Do any of you guys have a pic of a 2g that's flat black? I'm really interested in what it would look like, as my plan is to do a professional paint job with some gold Advans. Please post up if you have anything.

It would look like someone forgot to finish painting the car, just like every flat black car.

It would look like my Laser, that is not something to be proud of.

Why drive around in something that looks half-assed? I'm not sure how this "primer" craze got started, but I think its from the ricers who install bodykits and never paint the car.

the flat black is a hot rod thing
I would just base it in black and use a flat clear coat over it

4 years ago, every 240sx that came into Elite was flat black and every single one of those guys though they had the only flat black 240sx in town.

Yeah, I am a fan of flat black as well. But, only as a low cost solution, not as fashion statement.

I've only seen one flat black 240SX in the Twin Cities, so there must be only one.

Flat black=subtract 50% from the value of your car at resale.

I'll take flat back over multi color, but not as a permanent color. I 2nd Shane.

To answer your question, no I have non.

To go along with everybody else I would have to know what your car looks like now. Flat black is kinda the honda way to go imo, but if your car is like piss green with fading color and graffiti all over the side, then maybe flat black would be a good temporary way to go.

I figured I'd catch some flack on here. Not a big deal, I respect ya'llz opinion. I haven't heard of a flat black 2g, plus I like how it looks. The car is silver and you can take a look in the Gallery. But anyway, I was picturing a paint job like this, again with some gold Advans:

Flat paint can look amazing in the right application. I really like flat paint Ducati uses on the Monsters.

Oh and that F430 looks awesome. I had a few pics of a Flat Grey 911 GT2 but i cant seem to find them again :(

I'd have to second that. A nice paint job just not glossy would be pretty bitchin. Not talking about a spray can flat block job we see all over.

Here is a M Coupe (The Clown Shoe) that a guy just did flat black. It looks good, but those cars are ugly as sin to start with.

I think a semi gloss black looks pretty cool. The flat/primer black that was rattled can doesn't look so cool.

i think if you go on team 2g and try a search there is a thread about that.. its very old.

Re: Flat Black 2g

I know it's not really the same, but this type of paint job is pretty sweet too. It's just a grey base, no metallics or anything, with clear over it. As for the car, it's a '95 240sx with a complete R33 GTR drivetrain (RB26dett/AWD) They're running a single GT4088 on it :)

JET 11-09-2007 11:40 PM

Re: Flat Black 2g

Wow, really hatin' on the grey. The flat black is so-so, but not liking the grey at all. Time to start putting huge metallic flake on like the bass boats!

Find that pic Joe. I love high class cars with a dull paint job. I'm still interested in a flat 2g. If there aren't any out there, keep posting other makes/models!

Definitely HOT! Not a eclipse though but you get the idea. This is not the rattle can primer paint job. The wheel color + flat black is sexy! This guy bought his talon all riced out but he changed the front and the ugly sideskirts is molded onto the body.

Re: Flat Black 2g

Talon doesn't look bad at all. I like how he painted the rims bronze also. Stock sideskirts on it and it would look great.

HiImBrian 11-18-2007 11:22 AM

Re: Flat Black 2g

Yea that talon looks legit. But a nice shiny gunmetal would like a million times better. And what the heck is up with a primer car and a finished hood? looks funny imo

Kevin 1G Drummer 11-18-2007 12:03 PM

Re: Flat Black 2g

The Talon is too round to have flat paint. That Lambo is the sex though!

Thor06 11-18-2007 12:10 PM

Re: Flat Black 2g

I agree with Kevin. Those sideskirts are horrible on the talon as well.

123abc 11-18-2007 02:22 PM

Re: Flat Black 2g

I think that talon looks sexier just because with the flat paint it really allows you to study all the nice round curves.

Re: Flat Black 2g

I just don't like the way roundish cars look in flat paint. The car needs to be more boxy and angular to pull it off in my opinion

Thor06 11-18-2007 09:02 PM

Re: Flat Black 2g

Thats it, if I ever get lucky/rich enough to get a Porsche its going to be flat black. There was a couple really hot 240sx's in there as well, and I thought the flat black AMS Evo was pretty sexy too. I thought that flat black/orange ferrari? was pretty sweet too, good link.

Re: Flat Black 2g

The spoiler needs to be removed and the side skirts/front clip needs to be swapped with 2gb accessories. The paint job and rim color is exactly the way I'm thinking. It has class but looks mean.

Re: Flat Black 2g

The problem here is this...The cars like the F430 that look super nice isn't flat. It is "egg shell" or matte. There is gloss in there. The cars that look like shit are because they have shit paint jobs or fail to realize that flat looks like crap. There has to be some gloss.

With that said I have contemplated painting my car a form of egg shell black for some time....However, I am afraid it is one of those colors that is far too hit and miss, it might look good but in a couple years am I going to end up repainting it because I got sick of the color? Probably.

Looks bad IMO, probably because of the rims, spoiler, and rear bumper. Definitely needs to be lowered more, amber sidemarkers, better looking rims, wingless, and 2gb rear bumper conversion. It could use bigger rotors and calipers for the bling.

JET 12-14-2007 02:04 PM

Re: Flat Black 2g

That car looks like ass because of the paint job, IMHO. If it was red or something, it would look fine. It needs to be a satin finish at least, not pure flat.
