Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Its a shop here in CA that mostly tunes exotics, 3S', and many other cars. I heard he is REALLY good with the AEM EMS system (which hopefully he will be good with dsmlink then).
Im going to be getting tuned FINALLY on saturday at that shop. The tuners name is Denis. Just wondering if anyone has heard of them before? Their website is www.gtpro.com |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
I've heard good things. Why not just go to RRE though since they have a ton of fast DSM experience?
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Yes, they have been around for a long time with 3S's and a bit of DSM stuff.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Tom, quit trying to reinvent the wheel every chance you get. Go to RRE and get it done with.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
DSMLink is the easiest system on the planet to tune.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
the problem with RRE right now is that scot grey, the guy who tunes all those fast dsms is out of the country until thanksgiving. And they dont usually tune on the weekends, only on tuesdays.
Denis will be going to SEMA until friday night then saturday he is gonna tune. |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
So you're gonna go to a shop that has less expierence tuning DSM's, rather than wait a couple weeks and get it done at a shop that has loads of expierence? IMO, it seems kinda backwards.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
plus RRE keeps talking shit because i buy shit from extremepsi instead of paying their high ass prices for the same shit. Scot Grey is cool but i dunno about the rest of them.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Good luck :).
Fortunally like Shane said, anyone should beable to "tune" with a dsmlink, especially if they follow instructions :) |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
went to GTPro tonight, great shop, really nice, i felt like i was in a Lexas Dealership. They got her strapped to the dyno and couldnt get a good a/f reading and couldnt get it to idle for shit. Turned out that my Magnus SMIM Heat barrier gasket was bad and leaking. So im gonna go back next week after getting a new one and we will get her in tune and out of trouble. :)
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Heat barrier gasket?
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Why bother with that? People on here have already proven that they're more trouble than they're worth. Do you really think air rushing through your intake manifold is going to have time to absorb heat before entering the engine?
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
im going to go pick up a normal intake manifold gasket right now. I bought that gasket when i got the INtake manifold. At least the bastard should run better now.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Do yourself a favor and do a boost leak test before you go back to the dyno. If you don't do that you are shooting yourself in the foot!

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Ya, I wouldn't go to RRE neither. I hate those guys. Especially when they give you a discount after you've shopped there a couple times, or when they send you free shit in the mail, or respond to your emails the same day. I'd feel much better having a shop that looks pretty tune my car rather than some OG DSMers.
As for the heat barrier, I've never heard anything bad about them. Do you have any links to proof of them sucking? |

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
The heat transfering to the intake manifold is where the positives might be had. The IM wouldnt get as hot as it would without a gasket, therefore reducing intake temps a little... Not sure how well it works with Forced induction because leaks probably occur more often.
Tom are you ever going to just do it right the first time? |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
The concept of a phenolic spacer is not new; but in reality they often are more of a PITA to deal with than the gains they provide. Is that spacer a gasket itself, or do you have to stick manifold gaskets on either side of it to get it to work?
How about just ditch it and run E85 or alky injection? :D |

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
If you do use one, a few good coats of copper spray with no gaskets should make it seal, that is if the head flange of your SMIM is flat.

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
I have heard mainly bad things too, most of them tend to warp. A while ago I figured out how fast the air was moving through a 2.5" pipe, I think it was 187 mph at 7k rpm for a 2.4l. How long do you think the air is going to sit in the intake manifold at those speeds and what do you think the temp rise is going to be? I bet way less than 1/2 a degree.

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
These spacers were all the rage years ago. But when everyone over time ended up having issues with boost leaks etc. everyone ditched them. I guess they still get sold to suckers who don't know any better, but really, they do nothing. Like Jet said, the air doesn't spend enough time in the IM to make a difference in IAT's.
If a crappy intercooler can't make a big difference with temperatures, how is an open void with no turbulence going to have an effect? |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
My spacer was warped to shit, it looked like it was almost melted. The gasket was bad but that didnt correct all of the problems, The car still was idling like it had cams, so i did a boost leak check and sure enough i was leaking mass amounts of air through the throttle body. so i pulled the piping off and checked it out, somehow, (i seriously have no idea) i forgot to put in the front bottom corner bolt on the throttle body. So there was a nice hole directly into the intake plenum. So i put in a bolt, sealed and tightened it and started the car up and it idled like a dream and the WB was actually reading 15.0 FINALLY!
So next week ill be back at GTPro doing some more tuning. As for RRE, yeah they are sometimes good guys. I havent had a problem with a lot of them. Halon, thats great that you get deals if you keep buying from them. but chances are that the prices you pay after buying a crap load of stuff is about the same prices at any other shop. I think ill stick to GTPro. |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
I have my spacer so I can touch the manifold for quick plug changes if needed.
Plus it added a bit of runner length that I needed back after modifying the upper plenum :). |
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Scot Grey knows his shit, I've talked to him a few times in the past.

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
He's also got detailed information on what his car does 0-60, 0-100, 0-160 and top speeds. He had a nice website with all of that, don't know if he still has that or not.

Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Dynojet AWD, so probably 370 awhp on pump and 440 on race gas.
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
280 on pump :)
|
Re: Anyone heard of GT Pro?
Yeah sorry, its a DynoJet AWD Dyno.
And 280... come on give me more credit then that. My GST did 314 on a dynojet, with the 50 trim and 680cc injectors. |
