The last track day, who is going?

Cedar Falls has its last race day this saturday, if I can get some tires I will head down for the day to get some shake down runs in. Who else is going?

I have some 555 DR's you could use on some Kosei K1 wheels, but the tires aren't mounted yet.

Re: The last track day, who is going?

I would need them fit on a 15x7.5" rim, unless your wheels are 4x114.4 by chance. I tried the car in front of the shop and when I shifted into 2nd it made full boost and put the car side ways and tried to kill me, so traction is a big issue, I would be starting at 26psi(500awhp) but I do not want to hit the wall, or do a few 360s.

Nope, these are 16's and on 5 bolt wheels.

Re: The last track day, who is going?

Man, that bolt pattern sucks. Cedar Falls should be a lot stickier than the street though. Last time we were out there, they started prepping the track at 8am for racing at 11am.

let me know if you need some mounted john. I could probably get it done for you on friday, as long as I can tag along to the track. I'm ITCHING to go!

Sounds like you aren't sleeping John this week, that car needs alot of work besides tires to be track ready.

I am 100% sure I am not going, just wanted to see who else was heading down, I have no time or money to make the pos track ready, maybe next year if I still have the car.

Umm they were 17's and to small for the new setup?

I'll be going 15" tires next season hopefully.

Re: The last track day, who is going?

I'm sticking to the 16's. Selling my current tires, and doing some MT et street radials.

We'll be there with the talon as will the rest of TCStangs as tomorrow is the Porky's shootout! Should be some very fast cars...

Re: The last track day, who is going?

Porky's shootout sucked last year, I got a whole 3 runs in and I went straight to the back of the line after coming off the track. They let the stupid wheelie van have like 10 runs though.

Re: The last track day, who is going?

MAP was up here late, I think the car should go good at the track, but the clutch/tire monster strikes again on the spray. It made good power on just boost though.

Who all went? I know Ryan r-evo/merkzu ran some 12.7's in his wingless red evo IX!

Re: The last track day, who is going?

It pretty much sucked again this year...4 runs between 11am and 7:30 pm, and it was cold. CFR officials didn't really have much organization. The bikes sure got plenty of runs though it seemed. I'd say stay away from this event in the future. I'm not sure what happened, but the MAP talon had to push thier car back to the pits. I think it ran a 10.1 @ 145ish mph on the one run I saw

merkzu 10-28-2007 09:41 AM

Re: The last track day, who is going?

The 2+ hour wait in line between runs sucked, but I had fun going down the track..never done it before. Gotta learn to launch without spinning so much. ended up with two 12.7s at 113 and 115mph with 2.2 60's

v8klla 10-29-2007 11:17 AM

Re: The last track day, who is going?

We got two whole runs in and had to beg for the last one as we had to leave early. First run was a 10.1 @ 145mph with a 1.69 60'. Second run was an anti-lag launch at 7k, made it through first pulling hard and broke the rear end as soon as she hit second and the nitrous came on. Upgrade axles, break rear end. Upgrade rear end, break transfer case. Upgrade transfer case, break transmission, Upgrade transmission... Well you get the idea!

Re: The last track day, who is going?

4-bolt rear end too? Is the clutch too harsh?

v8klla 10-29-2007 11:27 AM

Re: The last track day, who is going?

yes 4 bolt, and it's a QM twin disc so yes pretty harsh. We're going to look at the video again as we're not sure why it would take the launch and then break in second, but it could all come back to the drag radials and poor suspension once again.

there is a easy and cheap fix put in a ford 9in and 3link or 4link
(I have 2 for sale)

Re: The last track day, who is going?

I would guess it pretty much let go with a 7K stutterbox launch and just held on til you hit second. I don't think even Shep was launching nearly that hard. Plus those street drags are much harsher on the drivetrain than some softer wrinkle walls.

How much are you slipping the clutch on launch? The QM seems to like being slipped a bit if you have the bigger slave and can do so. The smaller slave makes it act like a switch.

Speedfreak 10-30-2007 12:25 AM

Re: The last track day, who is going?

Preloading is very important when trying to save your drivetrain.

dumb_ricer 11-03-2007 03:22 PM

Re: The last track day, who is going?

He *always* preload's his drivetrain before launching.

Sucks to hear the damn thing broke again. I was hoping it would do at least a mid 9 @ 152ish.
