Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
2 Attachment(s)
Well, after years of not having time to get to the track and thousands of hours of making a street/strip car, I've decided to forget about racing and make my car fun and streetable again. This project includes putting the following back in the car after taking it out at some point:
power steering AC heating system comfy stock seats Canadian seat belts replacing harnesses cutting out part of the rollcage for rear seat access a good sound system So with no further worries about saving weight, the weight goes back in. Carbon fiber hood is gone replaced with stock, modified stock steel bumper is going back in to hold up front bumper cover properly. Also the whole underdash along with HVAC stuff is going back in. Along with that, since I'm keeping the 3.5" exhaust, the factory sound deadener is going back in along with a full coating of aftermarket sound deadener. Since I'm used to a little fancier ride these days, I thought it'd be fun to see how quiet and solid I can make the car feel while still making ~600whp. Here's a few teaser pics. |
Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Looking good Steve! You are going back to the Club DSM days, "Going fast with class!".

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Awesome man, keep on going! Can't wait to see this thing out more regularly!
|
Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Nice! I don't want to know how much my tank is going to weigh once all of my powdercoating is completed and stereo is finished.

Looks good!

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
That's how you do a dual purpose car. Keep up the good work. :score010:

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
You should have just bought a stock shell and swapped the important drivetrain parts.

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
I like to see this. I dont like stripped out cars. Tin cans ftl, comfort ftw.

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Looks good man, i am in the same boat, i have carpet and seats, need to do something about the rear seats and then get HVAC controls still, over the winter i may do AC, but i will have to wait on that.
Good luck. |

No, not scrap it, sell it as is, minus the go fast parts. It doesn't matter anyway cause you're already doing it. take some more pics!

I'm not sure about a 11-sec car for $150, but I think I can make a 12-sec car for $100! |

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
That's alot of sound-deadening! That's awesome. You're going to have a pretty sweet and comfy DSM. A 2 door, hatchback, luxury car with a roll cage and 3.5" exhaust. Nice!

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Looking good Mr. Hill!

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
I'm convinced Steve just doesn't want to stop working on his car. It was getting close to his original goal of becoming a streetable race car and the end of the tunnel was just too close. So he decided he wanted a luxury DSM with 600whp. In a year or so, he'll be turning it into a rally car. :P

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Well, I had a 2G that I was going to just fart around with and have a nice stereo in, but after driving it a bit, I remembered I don't really like 2G's, so I sold it. THe idea of having this car be more streetable just made sense after having problems with it at the shootout. I would rather drive it to the track and home of course, instead of also having to have a full trailer and tow rig. I miss the old days of just airing up the tires and heading home.

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Totally understandable.
|
Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
I see alot of us going back to nicer cars and ditching the tin can idea
|
Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
I've already ditched the only parts my car will lose.Power steering, and ac. Sometimes I regret ditching the ps, but for the most part it's not too bad. Parking lots blow ass though.

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
F That, Worst mistake ever. Take that extra weight out dammit. LOL jk

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
never. I won't put all the work into it, just to turn around and reverse that. I keep going forward, not reverse. I'll just buy another car as a DD, but until then..this is it!

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
Having a running car, and then one on jack stands is reverse... ;)
Scheides is probably right. :P |
Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
I did tell Swifty when he gets close to my age if he still has the car, he'll be doing the same thing as me. It's hard to predict your life at 22. At that age I was driving a 1984 Trans Am thinking I was pretty cool. :loser:

Re: Comfort comes home-Project Lexus GSX
I am just realizing that I've gone to far with my car, so now its a dedicated drag car.
And I'll by something nice like a 08 lancer or a late 90's, early 00's 3 series bmw to drive around next year. |
