I'll admit after seeing just the first pic in the post I was like "wow, that's actually fricken hot!". After seeing the real color of the wheels and more of the car and the inside I hope they give it to Paul and Vin to destroy in F & F 4 5 & 6.

Probably painful when you bang into second gear and give yourself an upper cut.

here is there web http://www.fasteddiesla.com/

you have to give something good sence they are a hot rod shop and build customs and they did this also. It come down to people are starting to see that the imports are the new hot rods.

idk I've always thought whitewalls would look badass on my dsm. haha everytime I spray my wheels with tire cleaner and they get all white I just think it looks so unique. But in this case maybe they have gone a little far with pink wheels too.

The wheels are red, look at the third picture. Post processing of the first two pictures made them pink.

neat in its own way?

Re: rat rod evo

Funny. I hate the wheels. not because of the color, but because they suck.

If the rear lights were solid red or they put some '87 DeVille tails on there, it would be awesome.

Gay. This fad will be over as quick as the cheap bodykits. Oh, scratch that, some people still like that stuff.

Volk GT-7 wheels are very nice, it's that reddish color that makes them look bad.

Now shit like that is cool. If you can say nothing else it is pretty original!

Original? Apparently you haven't read Hot Rod lately.

I'm not a fan of the red, but those things are HOT!

rat rods have been around for a long time. Some are nice looking that have alot of custom parts made for them.
If any one wants to build a ratrod I have one for sale 1931 chevy 2 door country sedan

Re: rat rod evo

Ok, maybe it has a little to do with the color. Still, they aren't very interesting to me.

I love flat black, next car might get it, i am a fan of it since i went to RFR 2 weeks ago and seen a 70 challenger in flat black professionally done its pimpin.

Re: rat rod evo

I would not even consider that a rat rod.

Never seen a rat rod with: 4 doors, comfortable space for 4 adults, 6 gears, reliability, turbocharger, is brand new, all wheel drive, and fuel injection.

Just does not seem right to me.

Gravy 10-12-2007 12:20 AM

Re: rat rod evo

Yeah, arn't rat rods supose to be an old beater someone sunk money into to go fast but not spend the time to always make it look nice, or reliable?

In that case, wouldn't a DSM be a rat rod?

Andrew7dg 10-12-2007 12:30 AM

Re: rat rod evo

yeah I thought rat rods are stuff you kind of just put together with spare parts that you have in your garage...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_rod

Or here is the wiki term for it.

I think the Evo is a rat rod wantabe but I think what is a better deffinition is a 1G DSM with a dirty engine bay but big turbo, interior stripped out, loud exhaust probably from an exhaust pipe out the side, clear coat faded off, some sort of wire and zipties holding it together...and this could go on...

I kind of wanted to put together a photo book of cars like that with imports and domestics.

Yes!!!

Re: rat rod evo

It is in rat rod style that the evo was done.
If I had time and less projects I would put together my 1931 chevy. make it a nicer looking rat rod in a velvet blue or purple paint

that shifter is just horribly ugly..not cool..

Re: rat rod evo

Someone was a little confused. The idea behind a Rat Rod was to take a low buck piece of shit antique beater and make it into a cool cruiser by scraping parts together and trying to build a piece before you tried to buy it, just like they would do back before aftermarket parts were readily available. This process involves many hours of cutting/grinding/welding, tons of used (very used) parts and very little cash. Rat Rods are more about personal accomplishments between man and car, not cubic dollars spent.

A new car covered in flat black paint doesn't make it a Rat Rod.

Fast Eddie smoked a big fat dick on this one.

*thumbs down*

Rat Rod's have been around longer than all of us on this site have been alive. Not going anywhere either.

Sad they did this to an evo, but whatever. People have to get attention some how I guess.

Re: rat rod evo

I don't know about this one. First pic looked cool, but then the after shots made me kinda want to puke. I have seen well executed rat-rods, but I dunno about this. I agree with the idea that maybe some people look at these imports as our generation's "hot rods"

Re: rat rod evo

Every thing looks nice besides for that shifter. I hate to see how they shift into reverse. Unless they dropped the 5spd in there. But still that high up wow.
