Flutter Question
When driving my car and I am under low boost or full boost and I let off the throttle just right I can get a flutter or what I think is my bov to flutter followed by the usual high pitched sounds of my Type-S.
The higher the boost the louder the flutter is. If I slowly lay off the pedal I can make the it last up to 7 secs. I am wondering is that actually my bov doing that or is it not? Different forum sites say no its surge and the bov not working right. If a bov can flutter what ones will let u do so? Iv'e been led to believe the Tail can. |

you can adjust the hardness to your liking with the hard/soft dial. maybe if you mess with that you can fix some of the flutter if you don't like it, but like others have said, that's usually what they do. Mine starts to flutter faintly at like 2500-2700 rpm with a 14b.

My Evo MR BOV does the same at low RPM, low boost.

If I could get it to flutter more I'd be all for that. I am one who loves that sound. The high pitch sounds get old some days. Anyone still have an idea of what the tial is supposed to sound like?

it goes.. WMPF Wmpf wmpf wmpff wmpffff just like others. I've only heard a tial on a supra. I can't do the sound effect right, superbleeder is a pro at tial sound imitation.

Heres another Q. When you Type-s owners are at mid range to high rpms and you are coasting do you ever get a the sound of a warning buzzer kinda like a smoke detector? |

Lastly that I can think of at the moment. How do the springs inside our bovs correspond to our boost pressure? At the end of 4th and full boost on 5th I get the sound of my bov releasing or at least I think it is. What is the fix for that?
Anyone got any updated sound clips? |

Nope, the Tial is a big ass BOV, so it blows off the pressure fast.

Because you just made 0 sense at all.. Obviously rice doesn't help nor I even mention it. I haven't done a single mod to my car so idk how this makes me a ricer. If it means owning one then you are no better off than I am!

I actually ran into this problem on mine the other day, started running really crappy in 4th gear(was vent to atmosphere) and was pissing me off. But, with the windows down and doing 45+ when it normally happened, i thought i had a missfire.
Windows up, find the problem and after tightening that thing as much as i dare... i'd give my left nut, and probably my right, for a stock 1g bov that works right. |

My cousin still has one in his garage I think. I could check with him and if he does I know he's still wanting to get rid of it since after selling his to me I think he's done with em'.

Would have to figure out how to get it work, but a couple buck could be thrown his way for it if he's got no use. May go back to the old one in the future when i have the vehicle set up better. That flutter is annoying me.

The Greddy type-s is a small BOV, the flutter is the valve plate bouncing up and down and/or compressor surge, not a good thing.

Would a stock 1g work better on a 91 tt stealth you think? I've got time, and money(kinda) to get a new one. Don't need that loud "PSHSHSHSHSHSH" sound, but i do want a bov that works recirculatory.

I did some reading, it can happen at partial throttle as well, but mostly happens from WOT.
I also may have found my leak... someone didn't use Teflon tape on the vacuum fitting on the car. So tonight when i was blowing through the old one when the new one came in the mail to see what, or where, it was leaking. I find out that side of the bov that sees air is leaking, so, i start moving my hand around to find the source of the air. So, i push my hand down on the valve, was very loose. Tightened the spring, nothing was leaking. So, i blow though the vacuum line to see if the seal is leaking. Get a nice spray of metal shavings on my lips. The fitting somehow was loose, very loose. How i missed this, is WAY beyond me. So at this point i had the connection piece off, and had left the old gasket on. I tighten it, and nothing is leaking, the old Greedy is still good. So, i put the fitting piece on to test it out... leaks from the gasket. Np, i'll just use the new one that came in the kit. Got cracked during shipping, and is leaking like a siv. So, now i've got 2 working bov's, and not a single gasket in sight that wants to seal. I'll order one tomorrow probably, but i'm trying my hand at some RVT sealant as we speak. |

Get a ticket? I've been followed about half a dozen times already, was great cause the first 4 days i drove it, i got followed 3 times. Two the cops actually flipped around in busy traffic. Once i was toying with the BOV at the time. Had two guys in a truck with the windows down so i thought i'd give them something to listen to.

Oh yea I got one. The first thing he said to me was "Well I didn't pull you over for speeding. I seen that your windows look a little dark." and then came out my fav little black box :(
