http://www.worldcarfans.com/9071001....-x-launched-ja Heres one for Scheides. :) http://images.worldcarfans.com/artic...004.Mini9L.jpg |
Re: Evo X
I've been reading a lot about the X recently and have been looking at actual pictures taken on the streets. Its good looking, but the prototype was so much more aggressive. That picture is of the RS version which is really stripped down (small brakes/wheels, no wing, etc.). All the magazines and websites are saying it handles better, but slightly slower in a straight line (lap times are still improved though thanks to the handling). The Mitsu engineers have hinted that some simple tweaking of the software will really liven the car up though. I really can't figure out why Mitsu made it slower in the 1/4 mile though, it seems like with the new engine and extra technology goodies they could have done more.

Re: Evo X
AWESEOME! My big beef with this car is the added weight. Its heavy enough as it is!!! I wish they would come with an actual RS version here, as pictured above, with small brakes, small wheels, etc. Then again, I cannot live w/o 17's (at least) and the brembos. They really finish off the car.
For the record though, I hate white! (ok ok, its hawt, but black is hawter?). I can't wait to see the aftermarket unleashed on this thing. Its too bad I plan on keeping my VIII for several years to come, but there should be plenty of goodies out for this new motor when it comes time to upgrade! |
Re: Evo X
I'm glad I grabbed a 9, just not feeling that thing
|
Re: Evo X
So when is the 4G63T based purely mechanical AWD cheapo Lancer coming out? :)
|
Re: Evo X
Its more like a Subaru now, anything more then very basic bolt-ons and/or a flash and the you need to upgrade everything. I think it looks nice and should work out for mitsu in the long run.

Re: Evo X
I see a lot of potential looks-wise. i'd like to know the bore, stroke, and the specs on the stock cams.
quick somebody buy one so we can tear into it! |
Re: Evo X
You know, if its anything like the IX over the VIII, it'll probably make a solid 310whp on a DD dyno with a simple TBE and some tuning. If that's the case, I think this will be an awesome car to keep tearing up the streets!

Re: Evo X
112mm bore, 17mm stroke, 292 duration, 1.5kilometer lift @ 0.50"

Re: Evo X
Looks nice, but I still want to see the bare bones DSM style Ralliart model that they are supposed to come out with.
|
Re: Evo X
If I ever get an Evo it will definately not be that thing. I definately like the 8's the best. And no more 4g63? I dont care how cool that 4b11 is, IMO it just cant be an Evo with out the 4g63.
|
Re: Evo X
bore:86mm, stroke: 86mm
and it has a timing chain! |
Re: Evo X
I think the interrior looks alright, has anyone talked about swapping an evo 4g63 into that thing?
I would rather build up a stroker evo block then that 4B11 or whatever its called now |

Re: Evo X
I'm looking forward to the Top Gear test video, they always thrash the hell out of cars and find out what they're really capable of.

Re: Evo X
Nice vid jet! I really can't wait to see what a little american aftermarket engineering can do with this thing ;)

Re: Evo X
I would like to see how strong the motor / clutch / tranny / fuel system / intercooler / etc are compared to what we are used to. So to find the limit we buy one and bolt a GT47 on there and start breaking stuff. Open deck motors ftw.

Re: Evo X
What does open deck or semi-open deck mean anyways?
|
Re: Evo X
Open deck means the cylinders have one big coolant passage all the way around the deck and it is not supported. 4g63 is a closed deck, with just the coolant passages open. A semi-closed deck will have supports going from the cylinder to the block, but still fairly open. It should be fine for high HP though from that aspect. That is why the Honda guys put a block guard in, like so:
http://www.honda-performance.com/ima...ock-guards.jpg That turns an open deck into a semi closed deck, the 4B11T will come with something like that installed from the factory. |
Re: Evo X
Just search for pics of STi, Honda, and 4G63 short blocks. The 4G63 has a fully closed deck. Most Honda engines like a GSR(B18C1), D16, NSX, Type-R, later H22s, etc have an open deck block. To make decent power with the Honda engines, you need to sleeve the blocks, which usually involves totally boring out the stock sleeves and replacing them with a supported sleeve or one close to a semi-closed deck. The STi has a semi-closed deck design, which lets them handle some power compared to the WRX that has an open deck design and is a fairly weak motor.

Re: Evo X
pictures from Do-Luck this morning of the Evo 10 that they have in colloboration with ARC.
Parts for the car are already under development by both Do-Luck and ARC and they expect to showcase the car very soon, more than likely at the Tokyo Auto Salon. Safe to say Do-Luck is continuing its development with Evo's with products expected to be released shortly for the Evo 10, we'll before UK cars arrive even, which is great news. We can expect to see some Aero parts as well as strengthening , and cooling parts of course such as intercoolers and radiators etc. http://sumopictures.sumopower.com/5.jpg http://sumopictures.sumopower.com/4.jpg http://sumopictures.sumopower.com/3.jpg http://sumopictures.sumopower.com/2.jpg http://sumopictures.sumopower.com/1.jpg Picture of a Ti exhaust in planning http://image.blog.livedoor.jp/arcint...2/9247cfed.JPG |

I'm kinda disappointed with this car in terms of styling. I'm curious to see how the engine handles more power.

Re: Evo X
I like the addition of factory foglights.

Re: Evo X
Just to let people know, the white one is a GSR. It has black vents on it (hood and behind front wheels) and MR's have body color vents. The MR has better wheels, brakes and suspension, but the white GSR has the performance package to get the same ones. The MR also gets the silver grille and little chrome piece around the grille. MR also gets an upgraded interior and SST (think DSG with better tuning and options).
