FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo (HTA82)
This has been a long time in testing, but Robert@ Forced Performance and David Buschur have finally brought their HTA GT35R turbo to market. *all* this is is a standard GT35R with a custom designed compressor wheel. The wheel itself is actually *smaller* than a standard 35r, and thus it spools sooner--almost 400rpms sooner on a 2.0, and power ends up hitting the same level :) On a 2.3 or 2.4, this sucker would make a great street setup.

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
The second link is for a Buschur muffler. :D

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Fixed :)

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
finally! I know alot of people on the evo forums were waiting forever and bitching :( . So for the record it's a 35R with a custom compressor and a mitsu style turbine housing?

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Here is a very nice review by Mellon Tuning about his experience with this turbo.
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?p=5064686 This thing makes me want to forgo my plans for OEM turbo power and go big....it makes me crazy! Look at the torque curve some of these guys are seeing, leveling off at ~4300rpms, that is just insane! People are actually swapping out BB T67's and seeing modest power and insane torque gains! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2.../MThornton.jpg |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
I think Scheides loves this turbo more than Apple.
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
If that were true, I would own one already!
.....a hole! |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
scheides --> :wank: HTA35R
Knock it off and by one already. |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
First of all, I agree, stop stroking this thing and buy one already.
Second, to be honest, that HP curve is kinda ugly. Looks like a Honda VTEC curve, or a supercharger curve. |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
I would really be surprised to see power gains over a dbb t67. maybe at a lower rpm range, but overall the t67 should make more power.
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
The first example is right here, I expect more to follow. Please note, not insane gains OVER a 37R, but power is SIMILAR to a 37R (37R = bb T67 slizang), and torque is much higher, which is what makes this thing amazing IMHO:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showpos...6&postcount=18 "Compared to the "37R" kit that just came off the car it's up 13 whp and 80 ft lbs of torque." Also of note, this car had the .86 turbine housing on it, and saw no power advantage over other cars with a .68 turbine housing, but spool is ~500rpms later (torque curve levels off later). ...Sorry for saying people were seeing 'modest gains' over a T67, I meant to say modest gains over a standard 35R on par with power levels of a bbT67... |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Now thats a better curve. But I'd like to see a 35R and a 37R sheet overlaid on top of this sheet. We then could see the difference in spool up and hp/tq curves. Seems a bit on the laggy side, I guess that is the .86 housing.

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Here is a graph from 9sec9's 37R'd evo(similar mods). If you compare it to the graph above, you will notice a few points
455wtq: 37R@6150rpm HTA35R@5100rpm (1000rpms earler!) @7000rpms: 37R has 455wtq HTA35R has 470wtq (about the same) @7500rpms: both at ~440wtq and ~640whp 37R: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c343/vwjeff/TP37R.jpg HTA35R: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ur/peterR2.jpg edited to add in the other turbo we're comparing here... |

Just trying to taunt you into buying one. |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Maybe next christmas, I still haven't quite maxed out my oem turbo yet...
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Same boost levels?
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
.86 and .68 A/R turbine housings on which turbo? .86 is a weird size.
The 37R that AMS sells is a little smaller than what we would normally run for a 67mm turbo, because it normally uses a little T3 .63 5-bolt exhaust housing for quicker spool. |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
dbb t67 .82 all the way baby!!

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
These last two were pretty close, yes. 40psi I believe.
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
I am still waiting to see the HTA 37R ^^.

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
More numbers...517whp on dyno dynamics (I'm pretty sure 1.0 correction factor), 2.3L, HKS 280's, 3" TBE, Meth injection, and HTA 35R@26psi

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Have you found any good pictures of the compressor wheel by itself?
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Nice curve.
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Dyno4mance went to a 7% correction on AWD cars at one point, but who knows if they still do or if that car was run with it on.
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
It looks like they pulled timing or had some detonation or a missfire around 5000-5600 and 6200-6800rpm. The snapshot file would show if a X correction was used, but that is some good power either way.

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Even if there is a 7% correction factor, that's still 483whp at 26psi. Pretty damn good power!
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
That about all I made at 26psi, I should have just bought one of these and ran pump gas.

Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Never too late, just hack off the end of that manifold you made! :)
JK, finish getting your car track-ready for spring! |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Remember this is the same guy that sells a M&W Pro-14 but puts his sticker over it and jacks the price up.
Just my 2 cent$! |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Ya, you will notice the original post says FP first, as in forced performance. Buschur merely packages it with their kits and has done MOST of the testing on this.
What's wrong with jacking up prices? If you know a better place to get something before a label gets put on it, go for it. If not, go with someone who sells something they've tested and proven to work on your platform. |

And if the moon were made of bbq spare ribs, would ya eat it? I know I would, hell I'd have seconds.
After looking at these for a little bit, they somewhat remind me off the BW turbos. Lighter wheel, extra set of fins on the compressor wheel. Do they incorporate any sort of extended tip on them? That's kind of why I'm looking for a good pic of the compressor wheel. |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
.82 garret housing w/ 2.5" outlet and Full-Race 'header'
vs . 82 garret housing w/ 3" outlet and buschur custom header....mounts the turbo down and backwards, with inlet facing towards the passenger side like a DSM. 679whp/606wtq !!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...chur/12308.jpg |
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
Very nice. What boost?
|
Re: FP/Buschur's new HTA GT35R turbo
No idea, probably the same ~40psi
