Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

What does everyone else have that they are trying to complete at the last minute to make it to the cookout on the 26th?

I am almost done with the spyder AWD swap and just need to put in the transmission, smim, and all the hozes and wires. I am pretty sure ill have it mostly together by tomorrow but having it all tuned up is a different story so that is what I'll be doing during the week.

Got a tranny in it, wash and maybe carpet and seats.
we will see how it goes, i could just leave the car alone and wash it and i will be fine.

I will not be doing a engine a few hours before this year to get my bro's car there.
I might wash the evo

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Prolly just do a little engine detailing on the Evo and some spray detailer. I've done nothing but drive the car since Jan so no last-minute mods really necessary :) Hrm, maybe I'll do an oil change....

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Put the interior back in, finish filling the holes from where the spoiler used to be, paint the parts that I did work on for filling the spoiler holes, figure out a way to hold the gas door shut since I shaved the lock on it, put the dash back together since I gutted it, and finish making my gauge mounting plate, and hook up the gauges that go with it.

Also, I need to put together some stuff under the hood like the hood latch and radiator overflow bracket since they were nasty looking and I had to repaint them.

Other than that, probably just a wash, wax, vaccum, and oil change...

I'm hoping to get mine running today :)

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Get my tranny shipped here by god knows when, install that. Tune if time, oil change, wash, wax.

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Wash, wax.

I've given up on the oil leaks that I have. They never go away no matter how much I mess around with trying to fix them.

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Clean my car, maybe get the tune finished. Also, get it ready to sell. It might have a for sale sign on it at the cookout.

Depends on if I bring the starion or the 2g. THAT depends on happens with the 2g over the next few days...(short answer = broken/illegal)

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

I got the FWD tranny out of the spyder and am going to clean it up a bit before I put the AWD tranny in tomorrow. Then it is just reassembly of little things and a tune from there.

Cleaning transmission

Waiting for a new clutch (will arrive on the 22 even though it was supposed to be here today!!!! damn them) so that will only prolong when the engine is going to be installed and breaking in the new clutch

rewiring the battery relocation

Installing an turbo timer and a AFC

hopefully have time to wash and wax everything

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

I love to hear about the last minute projects. Keep them coming.

I'll just be happy to get my cars cleaned up. I'm done with my Stealth already. I buffed her out last Thursday and put it in the back of the garage with a car cover on it. But I still have three more to go. Ugh.

Of course, I have about one million other things I have to do this week. Its kind of stressful, but I get pumped just thinking about all the awesome Mitsus that will be there on Sunday.

later,
Curt

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

The car runs "normal" but if I push it, the ic pipe will just blow off so I need to fix that and my boost spike problems. Need to get the engine bay cleaned off. My ngk wires that were once nice and blue are now dirty with black grease. Might got to LSE next Thursday to get it tuned, possibly.

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Take my tranny apart and go thru all the seals, reassemble and put into car and take the one out of my car asap too.

JET 08-20-2007 05:19 PM

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

I got the car running decent, but the interior is totally torn apart and the engine bay is dirty as hell. We'll see how far I get, but hopefully get it looking somewhat respectable :D

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Make clutch work correctly, install wide band and TT then put interior back together.

My Cookout project is to have my car presentable by the '08 Cookout. Right now it is covered in banners and surrounded by shelves of parts. :D

Halon 08-21-2007 07:08 AM

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

My car seems to be running decently, but I've only driven it maybe 2 miles. I do have a huge boost leak somewhere though that I need to track down and fix.

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Get a new windshield and maybe fix my headliner! hahaha. or just not care.

turbotalon1g 08-23-2007 11:02 AM

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Find new shift fork pads, since my are fucked up.
Put tranny together and perform and tranny swap, or just roll there stock tranny style, but that sucks.
Also, finish up install of amp and sub. Damn spare tire hump sucks a big one.

Engine is finally in, and then it started raining....

Engine bay is cleaned up (as good as I am going to get it anyway)

New clutch and flywheel installed

need to install transfer case
rewire cas sensor
put the wiring harness back on the engine
Break in new clutch
Make sure there isn't any boost creep
See if anyone has 550 injectors
....probably more to do
Put the interior back together

Looks like an all nighter

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

I pulled off the timing cover because, I had a massive oil leak going on. I found my oil filter housing is cracked. I'm picking one up today from Kyle at MAP cause hes a good friend to me and has a spare!!! Throw that back on and see if there is any other leaks. It starts kinda hard at this point but oh well. I can work on the tune a bit. I might drive it there im not sure. I dont have any insurance on it and, the car is rather loud at this point.

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

I will be putting ebc green pads and ebs rotors on the front of the evo on sat.
I hope the 3rd set of rotors my bro order will be the right ones. the brembos that brembo said were for a evo III were a 1in to small, the 1st set of ebc's were the same 1in to small, this time they sould be right from what craig said after he talked to them to make sure. it suck trying to get parts for this fucking car. next will be to see if I can get some rear rotor's for it. Might have to get mirage ls rear rotor witch are 4*100 and redrill them to 4*114.
also a 1/2 asswd was and cleaning of the 7 colored car

Re: Last minute Mitsustyle Cookout Projects

Ya we can do that. Me and Pete were just talking about it today too. Maybe meet up in Maple Grove with anyone else looking to caravan out there. I think Ylimert wants to as well.

Anyone else want to meet up in MG at say 10:15 - 10:30ish, and caravan up there together?

So far meeting up in MG will be myself and my newest counterpart Katy in my Talon, Derek and Austin in the Green Dragon Galant, and Pete in his GTZ. Maybe just meet up right at the Menards there right next to Pete and Swifty's work.
