The concept one looked better I think |
Re: Real world evoX pics
The hood no longer goes all the way to the front of the car. Its deffinitely numbed down from what the prototype was. Its just minor things too like hood design, head and fog light design, and mirror design, but it seems to make all the difference.

Re: Real world evoX pics
Meh, I'd drive one. People will make parts for the engine to make it stable at higher power levels, so who cares what engine it has? I bet it handles nice. Maybe somewhere near to what my quest does... ;)

Re: Real world evoX pics
it does look nice. the silver does look alot better over the black
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
I think it looks mean as hell. Give them time to be modified and I think they'll appeal to more people.

Re: Real world evoX pics

Re: Real world evoX pics

Re: Real world evoX pics
All you haters it looks sweet. No I know you guys are not hating on it. But ya I agree we have a new engine to play with. They retired are 4g power plant.

Re: Real world evoX pics
It's a mixed bag look-wise. The front and rear and deliberately mean and kind of chunky. The sides and roof line are nice and smooth. I feel like they should have gone one way or the other with the looks. If it was me, I'd yank the wing and put on a more subdued front bumper and hood. It could look really classy.
And Kracka's right on the hood. It should be extended all the way to the front. The molding to fill the last couple inches looks tacky. |

Hey. yeah, you're right. Fancy me liking the looks of a lancer. It's about time, because I thought the old one was too plain jane.
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
Yeah the old ones looked plain jane but now they tried to make it into a car you'd see P Diddy getting drove around in WTF
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
Correct me if I am wrong: This is the worst looking evo ever, it has the least flexible motor, and is going to be (optional)automatic.
I don't know, but from day 1, the evo 10 seemed to be a failure. The Evolution III seems to be the best of the breed in my mind.... |

Re: Real world evoX pics
Yeah, the Evo X is a twin disk manual that is shifted via computer. It has the paddle shifters and everything on the wheel. Everyone raves about the Ferrari 360 F1, so I don't know why it is an issue with the Evo.
How do you know the new engine is less flexible? Hasn't the power band been getting broader with the later Evo's? This one will have MiVec on both cams, a shorter stroke engine (more potential to rev) and a newly designed engine. The 4g63 is a great engine, but I am sure there are improvements that could be made from the old design. Personally I love the looks of it, I have since I first saw it. It looks like a more upscale car, not the boy racer look of the 8/9. S-AWC should be sweet too. I already have my name down at Brookdale for the first one :D |
Re: Real world evoX pics
Wow some haters here! I like the look, but I will forever be nostalgic of the classic not-so-mean sleeper look of years past. I like it though, if it handles anywhere near the existing one and responds to mods in a similar fashion, I'll be happy.
The DSG is going to be amazing. If not, the whole car will suffer. Anna's VW Jetta GLI has a DSG tranny in it, and it is the coolest thing since sliced bread. It is actually nothing like Ferrari's F1 tranny in the 355's and 360's. It has two *concentric* clutches, and uses hydraulic pressure to hold one in place until it engages the other. It is also effectively two 3-speed transmissions mounted opposite of each other. When one is in one gear, the electronics engage either the gear above or below it. When the shift occurs, one clutch disengages as the other engages. Shifting on Ferrari's F1 cars takes over .10 seconds. VW's shifts in .04 seconds. Beyond that, it makes day-to-day driving a breeze, shifting from 'fun mode' to cruizing is absolutly sooooo nice. Smooth as hell. |
Re: Real world evoX pics
Current Formula 1 cars shift in about 50 ms. Ferrari production street cars shift in 100 ms. That equates to .05 seconds and .10 seconds.

Re: Real world evoX pics
I've always like the look of the new Lexus IS250, Mazda 6 and the Acura TL. I just wished that Mitsu would make a car look that good. And viola, now they have. I think the EVO X will be a huge hit. The new tranny and motor have a lot of promise too. I sure hope they put cruise control in it.
I might be one of the first in line to buy an EVO X. So for those looking for a mint condition 97 GSX, they may be one for sale later this year. ;) later, Curt |
Re: Real world evoX pics
Yes, cruise is already verified! Not to mention navigation, nice sound system, etc. Hopefully we start seeing more information about it soon.

Actually Jana would probably be looking at a Mazda 3 type of car. Something that size, with 30ish for gas mileage.

I personally only like the evo8.
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
Th regular new lancers rolling around looks clean already, so the X should make a bigger impression in person.
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
I didn't notice it till the video, but I really like how buldged out the 1/4 panels are. It makes it look really muscular.
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
I still think it's ugly and it's not even one I would consider.
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
Well it is good to know it is not a chick's car!
|
Re: Real world evoX pics
HAHAHA!
I was hoping to have a serious look into getting a X and trading in the 6 next summer. But I would really have to be impressing with the inside conforts and drive (assuming they even let people fuck'n test drive them). The look of the front end the way it's shown now just rubs me the wrong way as well. |
