"V"

Well after a looooong time, "V" is finally going back together. Here are some preliminary pics showing some progress. These pics were taken during test fitting of components, AN plumbing, swapping in the A1 studs, etc. Not too far off from being done.

Enjoy.

Very nice, how long before you bitch that it isn't powerful enough? ;)

Is it bad that every time I see "V" somewhere I think of this?

Fuckers, I see shit like this all the time. No I'm not selling anything. I reported their asses to ebay, auction will probably be removed soon.

So far I've seen my car listed for sale, engine assemblies, engine parts, etc, all pop up on ebay.

The force is strong with this one yes? You know I've asked my self that same question many times. I can only think of a few more things that I might need or want. Better intercooler and piping, maybe some HKS280, BC280 or FP3 cams, & Q45 TB. Maybe EMS one day, but I'm going to try and take DSMLink all the way to the limit. My goal is just to be a well into the 10's (mid 10's) street car that's fun to drive with a/c and all the goodies. Low 10's would be great, but with the weight of my car it's probably asking too much.

Well VPE went out of business so I guess it won't matter that I say what it is. Basically it's Innovative's tweaked version of a T67 ceramic-dbb turbo with ceramic coated center section and exhaust housings.

Opinions welcome on this question;

Wrap or no wrap?

I've been stuck on this one for a long time. The bling is awesome on the manifold and downpipe, but I also keep thinking about heat and exhaust wrap. Would you wrap or no wrap?

scheides 07-02-2007 09:36 AM

Re: "v"

Hrm, the bling is so hot!

I guess depends on how much you drive the car. If it's only for events and fun times, I say don't wrap it. But if you plan on some extended track days and a lot of street time, I say wrap it.

I like the 'V' movie/book reference, I thought of that as well. Great story and great car! :D

1ViciousGSX 07-02-2007 09:52 AM

Re: "v"

I like the movie too, but the "V" referrence was "V for Vicious" this time, of course. :sasmokin: whooot, hahahahaha

Main purpose is street/strip/show week end car. Yeah, it's a tough call on the wrap. If the wrap is done well though, it can look great also.

Basically it's a "one-off" that was designed by Scott @ VPE and built by AlienAuto. It's a nice piece. In hind sight, I would go with a Shearer mani if I had to do it again.

No, asshats use my car and pics to try and scam people or make them think the parts that they are getting came from me or my car.

Re: "v"

Looking good! Regarding wrap, I've done a fair amount of exhaust wrapping and as long as the wrap is soaked before installation and then sprayed with sealant once it is dry, it looks nice. Personally I prefer black wrap over the babyshit-brown wrap that is commonly used.

Please say that I'm not seeing Teflon tape on that fitting.

1ViciousGSX 07-03-2007 01:43 PM

Re: "v"

No it's not teflon tape, it's thread sealant. I made sure not to put any on the starting threads so it would not get into the turbo. But it kind of collected there as I screwed the fiting in. And that shit is messy, so I decided to leave it alone for now. Once it becomes more solid, I'll clean it up.

Re: "v"

The one bad thing about wrap is that is usually causes the pipe under it to crack because it picks up water. I would say leave it unwrapped.

Isn't that the purpose of the wrap sealant?

It fries off on turbo'd cars though.

Car looks sick there Mike. One of these years you should try making it fast, instead of just shiney. :) :)

I hope there is some room for that rad pipe to flex or you have solid motor mounts.

OUCH. :sex020:

Speaking of fast white 2g's,............... cough, cough,..................

I do not have full solid mounts, but I do have the Prothane inserts for the front/rear torsion mounts. I have been thinking about doing something different with the hose/pipe just to be safe.

If you had a 1g fluidyne in that thing you wouldnt need that super curvy SS pipe, even though it is indeed purrrdy.

I don't think a 1g radiator is a direct swap, is it?

At the time I just wanted to move from the 2g mas and didn't really have a need for a blow-thru. Once I get a new FMIC and piping I'll probably swap over.
