ATK. sigh.. my number was called and I was laid off this afternoon. It really fuck'n sucks due to the perks I had there, and the total comp package but all in all I figured it was coming when we hired a ton of people for a new project we ended up scrapping. I am one of many. :-(

I wonder if it was just ATK or if other gov't suppliers are having problems... I thought there was some sort of war funding bill that was destined for a veto, even by bush himeself? I will check more, but I thought i saw that on tv.

Thanks everyone. It's just time to relax today and see what's out there. I'm going to try and focus on a smaller company though, something whereI can actually put myself in a position to learn more about the company and hopefully get a feel for other areas a lot quicker.

Damn that sucks, sorry to hear, but keep ya head up, its their loss. Like MattD. said, Small private companies for the win, you can do more and hell your voice will be heard. Instead of fighting over 100 other people doing the same thing in a fourtune 500 company. Fuck the Man, Burn that building down, & find yourself a smaller company and take them to the TOP.

:( Dang Allan, that really blows.. Hope something works out for you asap. Smaller companies seem to be better about overall operation but the perks are usually not as good.

Sorry AJ. It does suck, but usually works out ok in the end. Smaller companies have good and bad points, it just depends on what you want. Have a jag bomb for me!

DAMN! I'm suprised! What's all going on with the industry? Are you all in the same type of field? My dad was a computer programmer/sr. engineer for a computer company, and was let go 1 1/2 years ago.
