Our new project car has arrived...

Big plans for this one, the plan is to bring it out either for our track event at Rock Falls on July 8th or at the shootout this year. No it will not have an LS1 swap, notice I said we will be racing at the shootout ;)

Hey, Congrats on that, i am really jealous that you found a clean shell, well was it a shell?
Either way thats a sick project and if you can hook me up with a lead on a shell that would be awesome, don't worry i don't want to copy your idea.

Well, the whole world knew about it anyways, and I want to do a project log on it, so we are going "public". And its not like everyone wouldn't know about it in a week anyways when we start doing work on it!

The car has a blown set of apex seals, and it appears to have zero compression at all. It turns over like there is NO compression what so ever. It *is* a complete car at this point though!

We'll take care of those pesky little apex seal problems though!

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

I've been looking at one of these cars pretty interesting stuff. 5spd? Is it going to be fairly stock or over the top? Looks like a decent platform.

v8klla 04-07-2007 10:12 PM

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

5 spd. Plans include BW S475 turbo and an undecided automatic trans, thus we are leaning a little more to over the top ;)

Looks like a fun project. Add a third rotor perhaps:fishing1:

Nice pickup. I'd take the LS1 over the 4 banger any day but either way I can't wait till it's done!

You're not serious about the 4 banger part are you?

I think he is referring to the 4 cylinders they are planning to swap in. Not the factory powerplant.

Looks like a fun project. I looked into putting a 4G63/4 into a starquest a while ago, and decided that it would be too much work to try and source all the parts. Good luck with everything, and I hope that whatever you have planed, turns out well.

Because the rotary motors sucks ass. Yes they flow like mad, and make silly power WHEN running. But they are too finicky. And the fact that it doesn't take too much power in those things to get them to run a damn good 1/4 mile time.

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

We will start a progress thread this week as some parts start to arrive...

And yes we though long and hard about a TT LS1 and how sweet it would be. And then we woke up and realized we are an import shop! Then we thought 2JZ FTW, but I really enjoy racing at the shootout and we all know you need a certain motor to throw down in Norwalk... Plus, it has NEVER been done before! When we get this done it will give us the national exposure we are looking for, and if we snap off a sub 10 second 1/4 mile at the same time heads will be turning...

Awesome. I can't wait to see how this comes out. Are you planning on using a widebody block, or using the adapter plate for the GM trans?

We will be using an adapter plate with the standard block. However we are having trouble deciding between the torque of the 2.4l and the rev capabilities of the tried and true 4g63. Once that is decided we can then worry about a transmission that can handle the abuse!

Pick the trans you want and that is the least of your concerns. Adapter plates are the least of your problems. A built C4 will get you in the 8s, or you can skip to a built glide and not have to worry about a thing. The built C4 will cost a bit more but it will be more streetable. I am sure you know this anyway, I am probably just preaching to the choir.

Do you plan on shifting or.......not?

We were originally thinking the turbo 400, but have since found that a turbo 350 will likely support our goals for the car. However, during this discussion the C4 was presented as an option for its rev capabilities as the chevy transmissions may not be able to support 10k if we decide to rev the piss out of this thing lol. We still want to be able to drive this beast on the street, thus the powerglide isn't much of an option...

Thanks for the input!

Chris

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

Light car, you want more rev's! With a light car like that a built TH350 should work just fine. They are pretty efficient as far as auto's go too.

I say go for the revs!

Car looks great in white.

Shouldn't be too difficult to snap off a low 10 second in the quarter. Can't wait to see it. Good luck and have some fun with it.

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

I understand why they went with the 4g63. But why not get a 6g72 ... hehehe just a crazy thought. But anyways like said before good luck hope to see it at the shoot out.

You staying with the RX's rearend or are you changing that too?

JET 04-09-2007 12:21 PM

Re: Our new project car has arrived...

Because there are 6g72's making lots of power, reliably? They have potential, but that potential has not developed yet. Make a 2.14 and call it good :D

At least for now we are staying with the stocker, as far as we know they are one of the strongest import rear ends very similar to the Supra. When that blows up then we say hello to the Ford 9 ;)

And we are considering the 2.14l as an option, however most of the big dogs (shep, rau) are still running the tried and true 4g63. I've always wondered why they don't go with the bigger displacement, but perhaps they know something we don't? The only high hp 2.4l block I am familiar with is Marco...
