So how's ready for the 12-15 predicted inches tomorrow afternoon in the metro area?

santa 02-02-2004 12:49 AM

NO SCHOOL!!! i hope....

IndiEP 02-02-2004 12:52 AM

Oh this will make rush hour real interesting...

AJ 02-02-2004 12:57 AM

Yeah, If that shit hits the fan like they say I probably won't be at the shop tomorrow. Hope I don't get fired. LOL

Seriously people be safe! It will be nasty.

JET 02-02-2004 01:21 AM

Yeah, I will have to leave real early tomorrow. Craig and I had a blast running to get some food tonight though. We ripped the shit out of this parking lot! We were both dizzy as hell! I was yanking the Ebrake doing 40+. It was F'ing fun! There was also a big circle in the middle of the parking lot that was down to the pavement.

Nash 02-02-2004 08:43 AM

I didn't go over 30mph on my way home this morning from work. My car handles like shit in the snow. But I am glad we have a pretty big parking lot at work!

Jakey 02-02-2004 09:26 AM

How much snow have you all gotten so far up there?
We've only gotten about 6 inches down here so it isn't anything too serious.

.....but damn University parking lots + 4WD = Hella Good Fun!

AJ 02-02-2004 11:07 AM

The metro area is looking at about a foot.

Jana 02-02-2004 12:03 PM

Yeah, it's too bad I have a really bad headache today and couldn't go to work. ;)

But seriously, I would have spend about 4 hours on the road and to me, it's not worth it.

niterydr 02-02-2004 02:55 PM

Yeah, I shovled for 1hr in coon rapids before work, drove for 1 hr to get to work, and just shovled for 1.5 hours AT WORK.
Texas next year, or bust...f* this snow bs.

tpunx99GSX 02-02-2004 03:27 PM

I wish I got snow. I think this year we go about 1/8th of an inch (you could still see the grass in the yard)... 12-15 inches in my city would paralise us for 2 weeks probably lol. What you get in a day takes us 10 years... but I guess if you haft to deal with it all the time it takes the fun out of it.

SlimStyleDSM 02-02-2004 05:05 PM

Wanna play in the snow? Come up to Duluth, we have over three feet! :razz2:

JDM 02-02-2004 07:03 PM

I grew up in Duluth, there is only a ton of snow up on the hill. Otherwise its the same as down here. I am coming up there this next weekend snowmobiling though so hope it stays.

Was thinking about rigging up something to the front bumper, see how tommorrow goes.
Good luck to all that try to make it to the shop, I had to push cvd's beater uphill while it spun at 5k, just so it could park out of the way of the plow truck.
awd own's u!

AJ 02-02-2004 07:39 PM

When Jana got home from a tax meeting the snow plow was just through clearing the driveways. Well this left her with 3+ feet to go through to get into the driveway in 3 differant mounds. What does she do? Parks the car in the middle of the street and tell me to get it in the garage. HAHAHAHA FUCKING SWEET. The car was boosting and all 4 spinning going through that shit trying to get into the driveway. AWD does own!

SlimStyleDSM 02-02-2004 11:31 PM

Saddly, I live on the top of the hill though so I'm living it all up :fworld:

Woodbury to Rogers this morning, 3 hours and 5 minutes! I shoulda just called in. It took me over 2 hours to get from Rogers to QPR this evening.

CVD 02-03-2004 12:14 AM

Over the hour and 20 minutes it took me to get home from QPR (cheating in the carpool lane) I exceeded 30mph only twice, for a grand total of 4 minutes.

I also nearly got stuck at QPR. Fortunately, not nearly as bad as the saturn that got owned by the plow.

john 02-03-2004 10:42 AM

I was supposed to have yesterday off of work but I got called in at 2:30. I asked him how long i would be there for and he said ~2 hrs to do some deliveries. I get there at 3 get stuck driving around till 7:30. Ofcourse the fucken manager was gone so I couldn't bitch him out. The van kept getting stuck in the snow. He didn't want/let me get weight for the back of it. Then I was about to leave when the owner asked what I was going to do next. I said go home and he asked me if I could snowblow behind the store for the truck. I had to say ok and didn't leave work till 8:20 even though we close the store at 8pm.

I need to get another job. Pay sucks and I work all the time. I usually get saturday and monday off each week. In the past 3 weeks I have gotten only 1 day off (last saturday).

IndiEP 02-03-2004 06:39 PM

Just finished shoveling the end of the driveway and cleaning up the areas all packed in from cars driving over, now my wrists hurt. And the snow plow driver must be new this year cause hes been doing a great job to burring the mailbox. Our old guy used to plow the snow into the yard so there was never a big mountain when you'd come out in the morning.

Miranda 02-03-2004 07:54 PM

Emcee gsxtc 02-04-2004 12:16 AM

What is wrong with all you people that hate snow... If you dont like it MOVE. It comes every winter and everyone still complains. Its not like its new or anything. I like changes, its what keeps things not boring. Snow is nice. Driving in it, yes, does suck as times oh well.

Just tell them to shove it lol no pun intended. Yes I know in TN where I live 6 inches would close school for possably 4 days but that is because
1) we arn't prepared for this (I. E. the snow plows are just dump trucks and the drivers only use them one or two times a year ON THE MOUINTAINS!)
2) here we get alot more slushey snow that isn't as powery so the problems is the tempature will drop and make the streets ice at night.
3) we get alot more ice like I said above and have more problems

ohh did i mention the no one knows how to drive in the stuff?

Just thought you might want to know why it can snow so little and paralise a city.... I have never seen a snowblower in my life in real person just to give you an idea.

sorry for the long post but I thought I would explain.

ABV 02-04-2004 08:44 PM

That sucked the other day. I car pool with my roomate to work, and of course I had to drive, because I have snow tires and AWD. Well, long story short, instead of the usual 12 minutes it takes to get to work, it took us 15 minutes!!! That's right, it took us 3 extra minutes to get to work.

Oh wait, that doesn't suck, that was awesome!! HA HA Suckas!!! :razz2: :D
