TURNED BUT NOTHIN ELSE!!! got fuel.... got spark.... called it a day so tomorrow checkin compression.... DAMN!!! shoulda done a 6 bolt!!! |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
waste of a day!!!! how am i gonna know if it is crank walk???
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Did Mitsu run out of valve cover gaskets?
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Holy orange RTV...

Good luck. |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
I'd be willing to bet your timing is off, double check that all the marks line up.
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
no its good, crank sounds weak???
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Holy clusterfuck! Good luck with that one.
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
i just hate leaky valve cover gaskets.... forgot to scrape off.... i will though...
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
and clutch feels funny..... didnt bleed yet though.... i will tomorrow.....

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
6-bolt engines don't have heavier duty valves. Whatever caused that would've happened on either. I'd guess extreme detonation judging by the hole in that valve.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Build a 6 bolt and drop it in that beautiful RX7. It would be glorious.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
It's all RTV'd up where the CAM sensor goes. How does it work without a CAM sensor.
....and man is it ever RTV'd up :D |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
LOL just noticed there was no cam sensor.. Please step away from under your hood.
wow... |

Viscious, you beat me to it, but I really wanted to do this.....
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Dang I lose. Too used to the 1G setup.
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Mine is a 7bolt and my CAM sensor sits in the same spot as a 1g, right next to the thermostat housing. I guess I thought they were in the same location on all 4g63's.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
well its not cranking fast enough.... and clutch seems to not release all the way???? could it be in the clutch system????
compression is #1: 30 psi #2: 35psi #3: 25psi #4: 40psi could that be from just cranking slow???? |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
The clutch would have nothing to do with the compression numbers. You'd be testing the compression with it in neutral anyways.
You'd get slightly lower numbers with slower revolutions like if the battery was weak but those numbers are incredibly low. |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
the wheels are off the ground and when i crank in neutral, wheels spin forward, crank in gear wheels spin forward, crank in reverse and wheels spin backwards????
CRANKWALK or clutch??? |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
even with a jump, crank is still slow.... not close to sounding strong enough to start.....
|

Are you cranking with the throttle plate all the way open? Are your cams properly installed? Quote:
How about cranking with the clutch pedal pushed in and properly bled? What does it do then? |
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
bled and all.... does the same and feels really soft....

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Johnson just please step away from the car. I hope you don't work on that RX-7. That rotary is going to own you. To bad Acid Drumz is not in town. He could of gave you a hand. Now I know where my dam RTV went damn you Johnson. Good luck man. This cheered me up today.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
could it be the throw bearing in tranny??? im almost positive that the clutch is engaged....

2g clutches are bled different from 1g.

Mine is a '99 and it's the original cam sensor that's on the opposite end of the cam gear (passenger side) like a 1g -see pic of my engine
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
i wish mine did.... id a done the 6 bolt!!!!!
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
I think that even though its in neutral the wheels will spin. Do it and have someone try to stop it, it shouldnt be hard at all.
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
i did and it wasnt hard, but when i cranked in reverse, it spun in reverse???
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Of course the wheels are going to spin when you crank it over in gear. When you're in neutral, they should not spin at all. If the transmission worked before you pulled the engine, you've probably screwed up the shifter assembly where it ties into the transmission. Crank it over and play with the transmission under the car, putting it through the different gears. You should be able to find your problem there. If not, I have no clue.
|
Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
You need to figure out why you're compression numbers are so low. Recheck the timing belt. If that's good, well then you have some other problems, and that head is probably going to have to come off at a minimum.

Re: shoulda done a 6 bolt
Anyone notice the other Orange Problem.
