New Years Resolutions

Spill them.

Mine?

Get back into shape (other than round!).
I know people say this every year, but I am dead serious about it this year. I even helped myself get a jump start by buying a "Total GYM" this weekend with x-mas cards/money. I bought that because I know Chuck Norris won't put his name on something that is Junk, plus I had some input from friends on it (ex body guard of his). Used it yesterday, good stuff. I figure that'll get the fitness thing kicked off.

That is my major goal I have control on. I have other goals relating to the shop, the car, etc...but those I don't have FULL control over, my diet and exercise I do.

I know certain members on here said they want to get into better shape for this summer, maybe we can all help each other by planning monthly sporting activities...

Mine is to not be lazy bum and get into shape.
Also to control my temper and increase my self-control (not eating, drinking so much)

I don't make New Year's resolutions. If I want to do something, I do it all year long. Plus I hate this time of the year, Lifetime is packed with newbies trying to lose the weight, but they're all gone by March. :D

I just celebrated my 20-year mark of working out in October, I've never taken more than 6 months off from the gym in that time. I'm actually in better shape now than I've ever been. Not as strong though.

Get into better shape (I'm hitting the fitness center at my apt on a pretty much daily basis already) and avoid so much drama with the females; I've already begun the "social cleansing" as I call it.

Been exercising for a few months now... want to continue that and build my lower body as much as I've been building my upper. Other than that, save up for the Evo.... and hopefully not get into any accidents :) I think I had enough of those in 2006 to keep me good for quite a while.

See I don't really give a rip about "loosing" weight, I want to lose some inches. Actually I don't care if I gain weight.
I put this up as a reminder to some people that were "animated" about getting into shape a few weeks ago.

HAHA, that football game we had a few weekends ago is what sparked me to hit the weights and treadmill (among various other machines and equipment).

Checkbooks are nice for that, as well as microsoft money. 2 things I've found that help.

Re: New Years Resolutions

I'm getting fat. And sitting in a fucking cube all day isn't helping. People remember when I used to weight as much as a wet boot. Now I'm creap'n on the 200 mark and that shit just doesn't fly. I want to stay around 180-190, but I want less fat. To do this we are buying an oliptical machine and changing our diet.

More importantly I want to continue to not smoke. 1/1/07 makes 3 months of cold turkey quitting. I've got some ex smoking frineds that are a good help and motivation to that and jana puts up with the moodyness. If I have to select one to fail at I guess I will just have to get fat.

Re: New Years Resolutions

I've already started even though it's not the new year yet, but I want to get my life more in order. My files are randomly stacked. I've already started working on getting things organized better already. Also like Jakey said, keep track of money better. Maybe start using coupons when I can. I already upped my 401k at work, and allocated my percentages into better accounts then they were in. I started up a savings plan. Instead of spending all the money I made while traveling this fall, I threw 5k into a new savings account I setup, and setup weekly deposits into it. I've always just let my money pile up in my checking account, but that has such a tiny interest rate. So now I have some set away, and making interest.

So ya, that's pretty much my goals, just get my life more organized, become more responsible...

Re: New Years Resolutions

Well, I pretty much completed all of my resolutions from last year, so I guess I'll just carry some of them over.

Debt free. This one I didn't quite complete last year, but I'm only a few months off the mark, and I should have it done by March at the latest. The only bills I'll have to pay are rent and insurance.

Complete the MS150 in June. This will be round two for me, so hopefully it will be slightly easier than last year. For those that don't know, this is a two day bicycle ride from Duluth to the Twin Cities covering just over 150 miles. It's to raise funds and awareness for the MS society. I had a blast last year, and I expect this year to be the same, but hopefully I can get a few more people to come with me.

Complete my first ever triathlon in July. I already have one picked out. I'm not sure of the exact dates, but it's the Chaska triathlon and it's usually held in late July. It's a sprint distance, which is usually about a 1/4 mile swim, 10-15 mile bike, and a 3-3.5 mile run. Not exactly Iron Man stuff, but it will still be plenty challenging.

If I have time and the inclination, I might go back to school, but I still have no idea what I would want to go for. A part of me thinks that if this is what I really want to do, I should just pick something and jump in. Getting started is probably the toughest part.

That's about it.

Re: New Years Resolutions

Oh yeah, one more thing I completed last year. That was quitting smoking. I was the guy who couldn't go 24 hours without a cigarette. Now 362 days later I'm almost one full year without. It feels great. I'm going to kick Allan's ass if he starts again. :D Although, he's about as big as I am right now, and if this elliptical he just bought turns into a clothes line, he'll be bigger than me and could probably kick my ass. But only if he can catch me. :D

I miss biking too, I used to ride ~25 miles on a daily basis so I'm going to buy another mountain bike and start hitting the trails come spring.

I am on the "getting in better shape" boat too. I was on the right track from this fall until I hurt my knee, now I am right back where I started and I hate that. I am finally going to get down where I want, now that my knee is better.

Re: New Years Resolutions

One thing I'll say, if you like music and want to work out, an Ipod is the best thing that ever came along. I depend on it so much that if I forget it or the battery dies, I leave and just head to work. I can hardly work out without it. Makes time go by quickly when I'm doing that damn cardio crap too.

Re: New Years Resolutions

Since I've been on a big self improvement kick since Texas fell thru the shitter, I have many goals for this year.

The biggest one at the moment is getting EVERYTHING in my life in order. By the end of my first semester back at school, I want to have everything organized, and not only that, I want everything to be plain to see. In order to do this, I'm cleaning out my room, cleaning out my car, doing some "social cleansing" [as Chris called it], using a planner, and a getting all my money in order. I'm also trying to square shit off with my family; tying loose ends with my mother, spending more time with my father and grandfather, etc.

The next big thing is school. So far I'm going into it with a positive mindset. "I'm going to kick so much ass they aren't going to know what hit them!" I say every year, I'm going to hit the books hard and do the best I can, but this year that's not good enough. I'm going to hit the books full force and get at LEAST a B average. So that I can get the good student discount on my car insurance, keep myself off academic probation, AND get into whatever 4-year I decide to go to. Which leads me to my NEXT school related resolution. I need to get organized and get an appointment with the guidance counsiler and decide where I would like to go to school. Then plan my course of action in getting there. And I've decided this year, if I have to I'll suck it up and get a tutor.

I also would like to get in shape. I don't need to lose weight, but I would like to feel toned again. And not feel so lazy and out of shape. I've done a pretty decent job of cutting fast food out of my diet, but I could use a bit of improvement on everything I put in my body. I was going to run a marathon last year but it didn't happen. So this year, I'm also running a 5k.

Other than that, I just want no drama. Things are going pretty good right now and I intend to keep it that way. I don't want 2007 to suck as bad as 2006, and I deffinately don't want it to be a blur. I look back on 2006 and I'm like "gosh, I don't remember most of it! Must have sucked..."

/edit

Ahh I almost forgot the work scene! I want put of pizza! Not that flipping pizza's and yelling at drivers isn't my life's dream, but its time to move up in the world. As long as I'm kicking ass in everything else, I may as well find a kick ass job as well! I would like more money and less hours so school can REALLY come first but I can still survive. And more than anything, I want a NORMAL job. A job where I am assigned a time to come in and an EXACT time to leave. No more of this "til the rush is over" crap. I want it to be something I enjoy, and some thing where I won't come home smelling like food and have to wash my uniform 6 times just to get the dough smell out! Did I mention I'm applying to Bob's Cycle Supply tomorrow :D

My resolution is to finish few projects with the cars... and stay healthy.

Truck: injectors, boost gauge, trans temp gauge, and boost controller, sub box for the truck.

Eclipse: Wideband, clean the interior, put the stereo back in, along with a new sub box.

Self: learn how to work with fiberglass and make few sub boxes, get a welder...

Thats about it.....

I would like to see myself get rid of all of my debt, other than school loans. But I also want to get a good start on the student loans.

Pay off some CC's and continue to clear out the driveway! I'd like to get the shop moving forward again too, but work is making that difficult. Like everyone else, continue getting in better shape. I have lost 12 lbs in the last 2 months, but we need to hit the gym again. I got an Ipod nano for Xmas, so that will help!

I use my checkbook for paying 2 things: rent and utilities. It's hard to find places that even accept checks anymore.
