Pro-Kart Times??

I was just wondering what everyone usually gets up in maple grove on the indoor configuration??

The second time I went I was getting right around low to mid 22 second laps. I know swanny and the LSE crew are regulars, how bad are you beating me??

Also, my g/f went for her first time, and was averaging a very low 23 second lap for the whole night. Not too bad for a rookie, who is a girl, who never does anything with cars.

Went for the first time last week.

First round my average time was 22.892.
Second round my average time was 22.512.

Best last of the entire night was 21.568. That didn't come till the end of session 2 when I finally figured out the braking in the corners on those fucking carts.

I'm hoping to cut my average down by at least .4 seconds tomorrow night.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

It was pissing me off, since the first race was against a bunch of little kiddies.

Power to weight ratio FTL in my case. I would damn near rear-end them in the twisties, and they would pull at least a length on me in the straights every time.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

Lol, that sucks. I know once the tires heat up, you can really push it throught the turns. Wish I woulda.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

oh yeah, the first lap of the second race, the track was cold and the tires were too, I was plowing through the big sweeping turn, the whole cart was bucking and trying to understeer.

It was good.

My best is a 21.3.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

Wow, the two tracks of Pro Kart must be pretty close to the same type of track. We run low 22's to high 21's at the Burnsville location. We run league on wednesday nites.

Have they changed the track up there since last year? I ran it a while ago but don't remember the times. How often do you guys run?

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

It hasn't changed since it opened. (except they added the outdoor part like they said they were going too) B-vill changed a lot from when they first opened, uses diffrent karts, and is really slick. Their normal karts are like drift karts compared to Maple Grove's.

Hoping to break my MG karting virginity. I suck at karts, but i love driving. I wish they had the same thing but with cars.

They do, it's called NASA, SCCA, Auto-x or open track. You can rent cars and do these things, it would be the equvilant to what you are talking about. But it costs so much more.

And pro-kart is already expensive enough. I spend $70 for 2 races for me and my girlfriend.

It was a blast, but an expensive one.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

My best lap at the burnsville is 21.4xx, but I"ve been there once, raced 3 times.
My best lap at the dayton location is 20.9. John's bests are .2 faster.
My average lap time at dayton is a mid 21.
So I think we'll all try to meet at prokart at 7pm.
Maybe we should form a dsmstyle.com league?
I think power to weight might be a tops of .1 per second advantage per 25lbs, it isn't huge but there is a difference.

I'd seriously consider doign some kind of winter league.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

I may talk to them about gathering rates as well to rent the track.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

Its a lot of fun, weight is a small factor in kart racing, its more of how you apply your weight threw the corner and keeping the engine rpm up with out sliding (Dayton location).

Sorry for being off track but,
Where are these pro-kart and other kart track areas?
Also, what are the costs?

You might be able to rent other peoples "race" cars, but you can't just go to Avis and rent a car and run it. You have to own it or have the written permission of the owner to do anything in SCCA. They used to do that for rallycrosses until someone bungled it up.

Was that the old track or the new one? They just changed it about a month ago. 21.4 at the new track is very close to the fastest Knothead racer. The track record for arrive and drive is 22.1, for league it's around 21.2 or 21.3.

The old track I used to get around 20.3-20.6. I love the new track. More technical. More opportunities to pass someone in the corners.

Our league is set up on a 6 week run. You can set it up for 10 weeks also. We do about 2 30 lap races each wednesday nite in burnsville. Ours starts at 6:15. There are 2 other leagues after us.

If anyone wants to get together down on the south end of the cities to run one nite or set up a league later on, post it up or let me know.

The tracks are in Burnsville, Dayton (Maple Grove Area) and Thunder Alley is in Princeton. There might be one more around but not sure. They shut down Blaine a few years ago. That track was awesome!!!!

I guess Hill is planning on bringing a group up, maybe we should schedule 8pm?

My best lap in Burnsville was 21.2xx and Dayton was a 20.778, average lap 21.3 with 2 caution laps. I will look at my sheets and edit my post later.

Damn, I was pretty close. I averaged around a 22.3 and my best was a 22.226. I was surprisingly consistant except for the time some fucker got me stuck in the corner and the attendents didn't figure it out for like 3 minutes, there was a giant ass spike in my graph.

Re: Pro-Kart Times??

I got my first 21.9 on wednesday nite. And someone really went fast at the 200 lap endurance race on thursday morning. 20.6!!!! Of course when you run that many laps with that many karts in a short time, the track gets so sticky and the karts get so warmed up, you can't but get faster times. That's why league is always faster than arrive and drive.

I wouldn't be opposed to a winter league down here.
