Well I converted

several months ago I sold the last reminence of my Talon, hopefully the motor found it's way to a good home :)
but I'm probably not going to buy another one :( to much money, unless one falls into my lap.
instead I am in the process of buying a 2007 Scion tC, my wife already drives an 06 tC and she loves it. I'm kinda bummed about not having AWD anymore but they seem to be a pretty solid car. I've heard they can also make a decent amount of power but who knows.
anybody here heard anything good / bad about Scions?

Re: Well I converted

Go out and drive a MazdaSpeed 6 is you are buying a new car and still want some boost. The Sports can be had cheap and they have all the comforts you will want, with the fun factor. PM me if you more info. Fuck toyota! :D

Re: Well I converted

I have looked at those too, I kinda like the way the tC looks although it seems that alot of those wonderful "ricers" buy them and pretend to go fast, I also read somwhere that you can slap a 16g with a few supporting mods (even a stock dsm sidemount) you can run a whopping 5lbs

AJ 11-20-2006 02:56 PM

Re: Well I converted

And you'll still be in the 15s. ;) j/k

Re: Well I converted

:: sigh ::
I know, I kinda wanted to buy a WRX but I didn't care for how they handled (the non sti the hatchback turbo 2.5 :p )
I don't know I still kinda like the idea of a tC
:: shrug ::

How much does a new TC go for?

JET 11-20-2006 03:56 PM

Re: Well I converted

I know that roof in some of them rattles really bad. Other than that I haven't heard much bad about them.

Anduinlight 11-21-2006 12:11 AM

Re: Well I converted

a brand new one with non of the "special options" goes for somthing like 17,680+/- you can add all sorts of goodies for more money (like a stock Super charger, fancy bodykit or an ipod radio) there are so many options for these things though which is kinda cool. and they did have an issue with the sunroofs shattering in like the 05 models but they said they "fixed it" in the new models :p

Kracka 11-21-2006 12:17 AM

Re: Well I converted

Thats a lot of money for that car IMO. There are better options available for less $$$ such as the Civic, Mazda3, and Impreza 2.5i.

Re: Well I converted

xB man all the freaking way FTW... But eh...them tC's don't look to bad. But I agree to much money for that kinda car. When Toyota wanted to make a cheaper car line.

Re: Well I converted

Theres a guy in Kato with a TC thats got spinners. Pretty badass:rolleyes:

I agree with every one else, look around, you can get more for your money:)

Re: Well I converted

I work for a Toyota dealership and the tC is a nice car. Drives and handles quite nice in my experience. In the earlier models of the tC the sunroof was known to have some rattles after so long but is fixed now in the newer models. The price on them does range pretty high like $17,000+ depending on the package it has. I say get something else since the price you pay for something with only 160hp is a little much when you can easily find something better. But if you're really interested in it and want some more information I can help you out.

20k gets a nice EVO! ;)

Re: Well I converted

Yea for 17k there are alot of other options Id choose first over the TC. Go drive everything else before you settle on it!

Kracka 11-21-2006 09:24 AM

Re: Well I converted

The one thing that really bothers me about the TC is the fact its primarily a high schoolers car aimed directly at the ricer market.

Anduinlight 11-21-2006 11:15 AM

Re: Well I converted

this is true, it does attract alot of ricers :(

Anduinlight 11-21-2006 11:26 AM

Re: Well I converted

haven't driven one but like the subaru impreza wagon is still 18k-26k price range :/

Kracka 11-21-2006 11:29 AM

Re: Well I converted

I just got my ex a brand new '07 Impreza 2.5i sedan with spoiler and a few other misc. options for $17, 109 after haggling. There are some leftover '06's going for even less.

AwdGSX13 11-21-2006 11:35 AM

Re: Well I converted

You should def. look into a 2003 Evolution or the subaru WRX,They have come down some in price and at least then you can rock the AWD and keep the turbo! :D

turbotalon1g 11-21-2006 12:54 PM

Re: Well I converted

Toyota rocks, allan is retarded. I love my corolla.
Yeah, listen to these guys there is so much out there for that price range, def. get out and drive some other cars before making your decision.

Anduinlight 11-27-2006 11:48 AM

Re: Well I converted

well I drove a 2007 Subaru WRX wagon :D that was fun, 22k retail if I were to go with an 06 model. that is gettin up there in price, but Boost and AWD makes me happy :P
I guess I'll keep trying until I decide

Kracka 11-27-2006 11:52 AM

Re: Well I converted

Search the lots for a brand new leftover '06. Chances are you can get it cheaper than they are going for used, plus you'll get the full warranty and a lower loan rate.

Use www.edmunds.com to get quotes from all nearby dealerships; its the best way to start shopping for a new car IMO because then you can pit them against each other and really bargain them down in price.

Anduinlight 11-27-2006 11:52 AM

Re: Well I converted

side note on the Subaru thing. I've heard they are not as reliable as the steadfast Toyota or Honduh. and that they aquire some odd problems later in life

Kracka 11-27-2006 11:55 AM

Re: Well I converted

They are not as reliable or as well built as Hondas or Toyotas, they are cheaper for comparable models. If you buy new or practically new with a warranty though I see no reason to worry. Subaru's seem to hold their value pretty well.

This is the best idea yet, I have seen them going for $22-24k brand new.

Re: Well I converted

Fuck Toyota? Please tell me you're not serious... First of all do you know who makes Mazda's? If you want a long lasting cool looking car go with the TC.

Re: Well I converted

Mazda makes Mazda's in a joint venture. If you are looking at a Tc, I would look into a Spec V too. I do agree on the Speed6 though, it is a great bang for the buck.

AJ 11-27-2006 06:07 PM

Re: Well I converted

I was fucking around when I first said fuck Toyota, but since I ruffed some panites I'll say it again, Fuck TOYOTA!

AJ 11-27-2006 06:08 PM

Re: Well I converted

Oh, and the Mazdaspeed is 100% Japan built and shipped over here. Ford does not have their normal part in the Mazdaspeed6.

Gravy 11-27-2006 07:09 PM

Re: Well I converted

Not to be hating on the Speed6, but why not look into a speed3? 14.8 second 1/4 and a 0-60 i belive in 5.8 seconds? Been a day since i read the magazine, so my mind is sliping. But i'm looking into either a WRX or a Speed3 in the months to come, the speed3's should be available at mazda dealerships by now. But i havn't checked to look.

Fully decked out with navigation package and all the toys... $24,800.

AJ 11-27-2006 08:41 PM

Re: Well I converted

the 3 is FWD and the 6 is AWD. That was enough to make me not wait for the 3 to come out.

Kracka 11-27-2006 08:47 PM

Re: Well I converted

...same engine too, except the 6 makes more power stock.

AJ 11-27-2006 09:41 PM

Re: Well I converted

It needs to, it weighs twice as much! LOL

Gravy 11-28-2006 04:16 AM

Re: Well I converted

I've read 2 mag articles that stated the 3 made more then the 6 i thought. Either way, at 3100 lbs and a FWD LSD i know it's faster then the piece of shit Ford i drive. And more reliable then the DSM.
