Well after all of that BS with Revived racing, and placing my order for ANOTHER magnus intake mani through Extremepsi.com, i finally got it, along with the fuel rail. WOOT
Tonight install party. |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Oh, how sexual :P

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
It looks like they had a small design change though. In the pictures on all of the sites it didnt have the extra support between the runners, now it just has a bracket on both sides.

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Cool, did you settle up with the first company yet?
|
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Bitchin! Nice work, looks pretty bling!

I managed to get a total of $645 out of them but they still owe me for the AEM Wideband that they did not deliver. |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
looks pimp! I what happened to the GSX?

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Story time :)

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Blew the tranny after 2 weeks on the TCUGO and didnt feel like messing with a freakin automatic anymore. Ended up that my buddy was selling the 95 GST with a 6bolt, dsmlink and a bunch of other stuff for only $2000, Took all of my parts off of the GSX, and sold it cheap. Bought the GST 2 days after it blew up. and put on all of my parts, which is where i stand now. ;)

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
now this fuel rail is freakin huge, so i dont think ill be able to put it on until i redo all of the fuel lines, and maybe get a 255lph pump. so thats gonna wait.
|
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
lemme know if you want to get rid of that rail...

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Now that, Tom. Is some bling.... Get it all installed and wait for the next part to break!
|
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
May I ask why you decided to go through Extremepsi rather than Magnus themselves?
|
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Better price, and ive purchased from them before.
Messed up thing is that i have to modify my throttle body because the peice that rotates (on the outside of the body) hits the flange. ::FUCK SHIT FUCK:: |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
And also, i dont know where im supposed to mount the Coilpack (and the other plug.) now that the mount is gone.
|
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Make one, or I think some people sell kits to mount everything. Looks pretty sweet though.
|
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Mount the pack over by the driverside strut tower. Thats the most commen spot I see it at. Or custom a mount on the firewall.

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Well tonight i gotta go back to the stocker. had a couple problems that i need to resolve first.
First off: The manifold doesnt have a flange for the sensor on top of the manifold. and doesnt have a spot for this little capacitor looking thingy. Secondly: Im not sure about this, but does the manifold need to be grounded like the stock one? Thirdly: (this has already been fixed) but i had to shave the throttle body stop (the metal that the idle adjustment screw screws into) because it was hitting the flange on the manifold. Fourthly: The car wont start with everything on (except the sensor, and the ground strap and the capacitor thingy) Im not sure if the above is what is wrong with it. or if its something else (like the emmissions shit) and finally: the Upper IC Pipe that goes from the throttle body needs to be modified or something needs to happen, its pushing into the battery and doesnt connect right up to the other IC piping. If any of you could shed some light on this it would make me wary wary wappy. thanks Tom |

Here are some answers to some of your questions (please view attached pictures). I custom fabbed my own coil pack holder. I've had numerous comments on it. I've built a couple for other people too from the dsmlink forum. Also is a picture of where i put that little capacitor looking thingy. I've attached a couple pictures of what i did with the battery situation. I purchased an odyssey battery off ebay. The hold down bracket was modified by cutting it in 1/2 and shortening it. Nice and compact but don't leave your big amp/stereo run too long without your car running. You'll need a jump start. I believe some of the Honda batteries will work also. I modified my UICP a little bit also.

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
The honda battery that is commonly used is a Group 51 or 51R(reversed terminals) It is a very narrow battery. Maybe 4" by 10" when looking down on it.

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
What did you do about the sensor that is usually located on top of the stock manifold? Do i need to get a 3 bar GM Map Sensor, or can i disconnect it and leave it off (at least for the time being.)
Also i didnt see where you put the other Plug, the one that is usually right next to the Coilpack. (looks a lot like the MAF sensor plug.) |

That sensor at the top you are referring to is your Manifold differential sensor. I took it off and the wire harness for that just hangs unused. As for the other plug you are referring to that normally goes by the coil pack, i'll get you a picture of where i put it but it won't be until late. I have to leave shortly from work to goto a wedding rehearsal (not me). I will post a picture sometime late tonight.
Here is another picture of the coil pack holder. |

Nice looking engine bay!! (its way off topic, but looks good). Tom, you don't need the factory map sensor. |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Damn your engine bay looks sexy, I must admit that looks clean as hell.
Thanks for the help i really appreciate it. Ill look at the picture tonight of the other plug. |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Those pics actually made me realise that i forgot to put the PCV Valve back in. ::DOH::

"710" oil cap... LOL, I like that one :) That's an old photo from earlier in the summer. It's not that way now. I got crap about this once before on here a few months back. Anyway, thanks for the comments guys. I spent alot of time on the car. It pays to have a large shop like ours too that has CNC machines and tons of other machinery including a room of floor standing buffers. I'll probably run another special over the winter on shaved valve covers.
Here is 2 pictures of what I did what that connector that's normally by the coil pack. I mounted it to the bottom manifold bolt(passenger side). It's clean and works perfectly. I don't know where other people put theirs. The magnus project is one mod that creates about 5 other mods! One other mod that i can think of is that you have to extend the coolant hoses that goto your throttle body. |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
710 cap, haha nice one swanny.

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
So My car is finally running!!!
A very wierd think happened. it wouldnt start, and i couldnt figure it out. It would try to start but then instantly die. I looked down to what i thought was sparks by the manifold, but it turned out to be flames going by the heat barrier gasket, which was telling me that it was getting gas and getting spark. i was racking my brain wondering why the flames were going up into there, but realised it was probebly timing. Which made no sence because i didnt touch the timing belt. my last thought which was more of a "Fuck it, why not?" thought was to reverse the spark plugs completly So if this was the coil pack before (keep in mind i have to switch 1 with 4 and 2 with 3) |O O| |O O| 4 1 2 3 It would now be marked: |O O| |O O| 2 3 4 1 So the two coil packs were reversed Sure enough the bastard fired right up. I dont know how or why this went like this but hey, im not gonna argue as long as my car is running. The only explaination i have is if when i unscrewed the coil pack from the mounting plate then i screwed it back on facing the other way. but still that doesnt make much sence because then the holes wouldnt line up for the screws (theres 3 screws per pack) But oh well the car is runnign and im happy again, i havent had a chance to test drive it but ill see how she drives tomorrow. Thanks again for all of the help guys. Tom |
Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Onefast99GSX, I love the coilpack mount! nice work!

Re: Brown Santa Came early this year...
Oh My GOD. I am once again afraid of my car.
I drove it to work. all i can say is WOW. They say that the intake frees up 40-60 hp, i would say on my car it freed up a lot more. its insane. With all the trouble i had with this intake, i would say now that it was totally worth it. the butt dyno is really happy. I honestly dont know how the guys with more done to their car then me drive these cars on the road, i dont know if it was just because it was morning or what. i have a new found love for my car. (at least until i was 2 blocks from my work when one of my IC pipes blew off. but thats beside the point. lol ) |
